Love my local French bistro this place is like a second home to me I have been coming here for over 10 years. French cuisine with a Mediterranean twist. Nice wine list and Olga makes great cocktails. Some of my to go to items are the tuna appetizer, salmon and hanger steak. Great vegetarian items as well I always take a nibble of my daughter’s meal. Nightly seasonal specials are offered and whipped up by Chef Adil. Can not recommend this place enough.

Definitely check this place out. I had the Moules Marinières — steamed mussels in white wine sauce — delicious. They had a great live jazz singer the night we were there — great atmosphere, good wine list and yummy food. What else do you want?

Went here on a Friday night for dinner. Good food but not a lot to choose from. The place is pretty small and we felt we didn’t have enough table room. The Bistro Beeze drink was yummy! Also the waiter had a hard time understanding us so two things came out incorrect but they were fast to redo the orders.

Dined here 5 – 10 times. Mostly ok/average. Last was a disaster: Ordered burger medium, arrived so rare it fell apart, they took same burger(after my bite) and put it back on grill and back on same bun with no apology and critical/snide attitude. Burger was no better and they never returned to follow up. Did not eat burger, paid bill and left. Seems like this practice would be a health hazard(raw burger with bite returned to grill and back to my raw burger soaked bun). I filled out in restaurant feedback card with no reply hence this review.

Went here for New Years eve dinner. It was awesome! The food was absolutely delicious. My husband and I had a great time. It was a pre fixe menu for $ 59 a person. I started with the the foi gras… Amazing. My husband started with the lobster bisque. He loves it. I then had the ribeye and it was cooked perfectly. He had the beef stew with mashed potatoes. Needless to say… We had nothing left on our plates. The dinner ended with molten lava cake. The staff was friendly and it was a kind atmosphere.

Let me start that I am biased because I live in the neighborhood. That being said that their is many terrible places in my area that I will never go back too. So Bistro 61 happens to be the real deal. I went in there the other night. I started with the soup de poissones. The broth was TRANSCENDING. I mean it. try it and tell me otherwise. I dare you. I did not want to move to another dish. I told the owner how much I liked it. He told me all the ingredients that went into it. That was kinda of nice, but to quick to write down. :(I followed with the rabbit a special for that night. Rabbit can be dry if done wrong. This was not. It did have moroccan influences with some of the spicing. It was more then I could eat. The chef suggested to buy a good baguette tomorrow and put the shredded rabbit on it with mustard for tomorrows lunch. I did. Oh here is the kicker. I was their for happy hour. Ridiculously low priced happy hour wines. Wednesday night is jazz night and worthy cassoulet. Enjoy

Let me just start by saying I have lived in France for about 2 years and I LOVE French food. This restaurant, however, would not survive a week in France. I’m not saying the food was terrible but I’ve had better meals in my hospital cafeteria. In summary, if you’re looking for delicious French food, don’t come here, it’s a joke.

My husband and I have a business around the corner and love taking late night meals after work at this authentic bistro serving French food. As someone who lived in Paris for 10 years the frites and salade nicoise remind me of the old days and everything is always fresh and it’s service with a smile(which is different from Paris lol)…the owners and managers are delightful and always check in and chat to see if you’re enjoying your meal. I love the attentiveness of the staff and the friendly family feel. Food standards are important and for us we don’t like to wait long so the quick service is a plus. Definitely the double thumbs up. No bookings required but possibly on Saturday and Sunday nights.

Such a beautiful french Reaturant. Got a burger and clam chowder soup. The fries are thin and yummy. The music here is so mellow and relaxing and romantic. Recommend it for sure

I know many French friends who will feel insulted having this place considered to be called a French bistro. The prices are of one but the food execution was far far away from what one would expect. Best thing I can say is that it wasn’t terrible. But with $ 23-$ 32 an entrée I’ll be back there in case there is a nuclear holocaust and this place is the only one that stays open in the island. French food is all about quality ingredients and technique which are pretty much what was missing. Service was reasonable, aside from the server eagerness to clear the plates. The drinks were fair. $ 159 I should’ve spent on groceries.

We had a big group last night that was celebrating a 60th birthday. Our family has quite a few French speakers and they immediately hit it off with the french speaking manager/waiter. The wine was delish and the food was good too! I had the tomatoes and basil soup as an appetizer and then for my entrée I went with the lamb burger and spicy fries. For dessert I had a cup of Joe! Overall I was feeling the food, ambience, and general vibe of Bistro 61. Will definitely be coming back!

Attentive service, and enormous mussels with no grit or fishiness. Wonderful marinara flavor with lots of heat! Also nicely priced for UES.

Bread was stale. Complained, so they just toasted it. 10 minutes later got my lamb burger with cold buns. Fries tasted undercooked. Nothing was fresh. Menu was very dirty and old. Also, some things were cash only and others weren’t. Don’t waste your time and money.

What a great little find. Food and service are top notch. The mussels are truly fantastic, I especially like Chef Adil’s signature Curry and Coconut version. If you like mussels, the All-You-Can-Eat option is a bargain. We have also had the Linguine Alla Vongole(spaghetti and clams) which was superb. And if they have soft shell crabs on the specials, do not miss out. Again, staff and service extremely friendly. Can’t wait to go back!

We kind of stumbled onto this place after trying to stumble onto several other places following a race at the park. We were all in need of booze, and early(if I said 11 am, I’d be conservative). Luckily, Bistro 61 obliged and we were soon sitting outside sipping Bloody Marys. After a couple of rounds of Bloodies, we got hungry, as folks are wont to do, and inquired of the brunch options. Our waiter, who was French and obliging, informed us that the Internet was down, which affected their credit card machines. We all only had cash, so this presented logistical issues. We moved inside, opting for the creative but less than ideal suggestion to leave our cc numbers until the machine was up and running. I should have brought cash(if not for the race I would have), because the brunch specials were cash only. I settled for a pricey but tasty burger. So 3.5 overall but I round down due to a mixed first impression. Cheers for the bloodies, though, right place-right time.

Stopped in here for lunch(you can reserve through Opentable). Plenty of space inside, and weather was nice outside so most people were sitting there. Staff was very friendly to the kid my friends brought along, water cup was paper and highchair. Service was slower after the initial order, but consistent and friendly. As Geraldine K. noted, nice, but not memorably so. Menus were covered by former album covers, and the music mix in the background was a mix of the hits from the 80s-00s, lightly in the background. They served us quickly with bread, olive oil on the table, and balsamic when we asked for it. Not bad start — the bread wasn’t the French rock kind but the good Italian bread that sops up the right amount of olive oil(as much as possible). The chicken & pesto sandwich was so-so, nothing exciting there, Cosi’s version is probably what the order was meant to be like. The fries, though, were good, seasoned just enough to be tasty on everyone’s plate. Not bad combination with the wraps(the Panini Vegetariano and Merguez Sandwich were the two choices). The Smoked Salmon Florentine was just perfectly made eggs with a heap of sauce, a salad and onion-grilled potatoes to the side. Side of bacon was normal, nothing special here — not burnt, not too crisp, and not too juicy. Eating here leisurely seemed to be the key. Not a bad spot since we are often close to this location, will come here to try more options later, including that burger that looked like a good description. Note, the brunch specials for some reason do not allow you to use a credit card. Other orders can, no issues. And they also deliver/take-out much of the menu.
