But unfortunately, I noticed it was closed when I walked by this morning. There was a sign on the door thanking for the customers for their patronage.

Came here for an evening snack & drink after a rec by a friend. My bf & I split the«le burger» bc we had a snack with happy hour earlier. Atmosphere at this place is really cool. Dim lights, open windows. Looks like a romantic French bistro(which is what it is). The bartender, Olga, was really nice & fun to interact with. They have a good happy hour special with 50% off most wines & every night has a different happy hour special. Burger breakdown: –Really great meat, chef recommended it be served as medium which was a good choice –I forgot what cheese it was but it was very yummy & dodnt overpower the flavor of the burger like happens often with cheeseburgers –the«bun» is focaccia, which was good bread but I prefer a real bun on a burger I’d def come back here for a full dinner or the brunch. Very cute spot for a semi-casual date night

They have a $ 1.50 oyster special from 5−7pm. But the oysters we had were terrible and the wine tasted two days old. Bartender was nice though.

I have to say that the décor was just OK. We sat in the back outdoor area for lunch. It was decorated in a rustic French way, but minimally. The menu looked quite good and very reasonably priced. An entrée and drink for $ 15. I tried the Omelette parisienne and a pizza with chicken and mushrooms. I really enjoyed both dishes. 1. Omelette parisienne: large portions with spinach, eggs, and mushrooms. Delicious! The side salad, though was drowning in the dressing and was a bit wilty unfortunately. I think they should have added some additional items to make this a better looking salad. 2. Pizza: The crust is really fantastic. Nice and crunchy. The thin layer of cheese on top was perfect and not too heavy. You get thin slices of chicken and mushrooms. It’s the perfect size for one person. Flavorful. Overall, a really nice lunch experience.

Probably the most disgusting espresso I’ve ever had. «Segafredo» is a high quality coffee, but these guys don’t even know how to use the machine. Also, the barista guy that works on Saturday mornings seems is there to make you a favor: no smile, slapping face, no hi, no bye. Please work on the coffee drinks Marché.

I liked the Duck confit pizza … so good and tasty… Mussels with saffron in wine sauce was so good. I don’t mind going there again soon

Nice! Good food, strong coffee, quiet. Once again, Unilocal didn’t fail me. Came for an early lunch between doc Appts and got the place almost to ourselves. The«Power Lunch» menu is great. Husband got«Authentique»(crème fraische, petit lardon, carmelized onions) «tarte» and I got the«Le Poulet a Moutarde»(chicken, mushrooms, carmelized onions). They were like super thin crust pizzas and SO yummy. Meals on this menu came with a drink(soda, coffee, tea, ORWINE — it’s French, after all). Husband wanted coke, but they only had diet, which he didn’t like. I had coffee which was very fresh and very strong, which I loved, but lots of Americans don’t. Will definitely return. Can only describe décor in garden as French student apartment. Empty wine bottles, bad art, but the garden was a lovely place to sit in pleasant weather. Service was fast and excellent.

Just finished lunch here(in the patio at the back of the restaurant) and had to write a review. Ordered the«La Marché du Sud» tarte flambée . The patio space is cute, airy and welcoming without being pretentious. The tarte itself was okay(for 17 $ without tax/tip, that’s steep but it does come with duck confit, foie gras and truffle oil). So three stars out of five for décor/ambience + food. Service, however, was terrible. The server brought out our food after that of 5 other tables(who had all walked in after we were seated). She didn’t apologize for the delay and seemed unfazed by the fact that we were positively miffed. My meal, which could’ve been otherwise okay, was soured considerably due to this lack of hospitality! I hope my tip was self-explanatory . Will I go back? Probably not, but I’m sure they get plenty of business, raving reviews and tips to care for improvement. If it’s southern French cuisine you crave, Café d’Alsace or Tarte Flambée further uptown might be a better choice.

Went for lunch on Thursday afternoon and was not impressed. We ate in the«Garden» which did not offer much ambiance. I ordered the omelette special with french fries instead of salad. I don’t usually meet fries I don’t like but I did here. They were soggy. The Marche du Sud salad was pretty plain although the lavender dressing was very tasty. The desserts we also disappointing. We had the strawberry shortcake and a banana nutella pizzette. This restaurant was nothing special. One of my least favorite French spots in nyc.

I had the steak here and the cheese plate. Service is good, but the food is really medicore here for medicore prices. The food is not authentic French and is lacking much variety. I recommend go elsewhere.

My fiancé and I stopped in at our favorite neighborhood happy hour spot, Marche du Sud, recently after not visiting for a month or two. We experienced a whole new happy hour experience and tapas menu. We were a little disappointed that the $ 1 oyster special is no longer available on weekdays anymore(it is still available on weekends), but loved the new tapas menu and also the new half price wine special for happy hour! We had always wondered why there was never a special price for wine during happy hour, so this was a pleasant surprise! Ben and I love coming to Marche du Sud because it is convenient, pleasant, and always has exceptional service and food. It is almost like an addiction, because we want to go all the time! The new tapas menu is an amazing update to the menu, because we used to order pizza and an appetizer and leave it at that. We loved how there was much more of a selection of small plates on the new menu, so we could try more of a variety of items instead of sticking to our go to items. The mini French pizza was delicious and crunchy with the thin crust pastry-like dough that Marche du Sud uses for their other pizzas. This version was more simplified for the tapas menu, but extremely delicious and gave into my craving for one of their pizzas without having to order the regular size pizza. The marinara sauce was light and went perfectly with the gruyère cheese. The fresh herbs on top added crunch and freshness to each bite! The Poelee de Poulpe, which was sautéed octopus, was our favorite dish! It was sautéed with garlic, cherry tomatoes, and fresh herbs and was extremely flavorful. Also, there were plenty of garlic slices in this dish that my fiancé and I appreciated since we love garlic. At least we both had bad breathe together?! The octopus was perfect in texture and slightly charred on the edges which made the meat very flavorful and mouth watering good. The Shishito peppers were very delicious! They weren’t exactly the hottest shishito peppers, but that is all based on luck, so we will let it slide this time! They were topped with truffle sea salt which added a lot of truffle flavor to each bite. I wanted to lick the paper they were sitting on after we were done because of the rich truffle flavor. The Boulettes de Boeuf en Cassolette, which was beef meatballs in tomato sauce were very moist and tender and cooked perfectly. They sat in a clay dish with tons of tasty marinara sauce, which was the perfect dip for bread when we were done :) The meatballs were flavorful and seasoned so that they had a little bit of a spiciness to them. They were delicious! The Croquettes du Marche was one of the two croquettes options on the tapas menu. We originally were going to order the Goat Cheese Croquettes, but based on the suggestion from the bartender we decided to order this version with pork, onions, and fresh herbs, served with chipotle mayo. They were quite delicious, but probably our least favorite of all the tapas we ordered. They were lightly fried and almost like a savory donut. The chipotle mayo was a great pairing to this because the creaminess of the mayo moistened the fried croquette while the chipotle made gave it a little bit of a kick. I already can’t wait to go back and try some of the other items on the new menu paired with the half off wine!

I love March du Sud(MdS). Sure there’s better Frenchy fair littered around the city but I don’t think you can find quite the same feel. The staff is not good they are consistently great. Prices are reasonable and the menu offers a nice variety of choices to keep you coming back. And by the time you’re done sampling the entire menu, you will be missing the first dish you had and thus the beginning of a pleasant perpetual gastronomic cycle. I’m especially partial to MdS on a spring evening where an abundance of local lively millennials tend to hold court. One can sit back and basque in the energy while enjoying mussels or a tarte flambé or better still both.

This review is based off their tarte flambées and service. Marché du Sud… how I wanted to like you. I’ve been here 3 times, each time hoping that the previous time was a fluke and this will turn out to be a solid neighborhood option.(What can I say — still slim pickings in this area). Re: tarte flambées, I’ve had the L’Authentique and La Marché du Sud. The flavors are decent. However, in both cases, the crust was a little too. chewy, there was a slight squirt of oil in each bite that left me feeling a bit oily and greasy after eating. For these, I’d recommend checking out La Tarte Flambée ~30 streets north. On one of my forays here, the waiter was absolutely aghast that I would ask for(if memory serves me) the La Champignons Frais without the lardons. He very strongly urged me to reconsider, then redirected me to an iceberg salad he said was amazing. I am partly to blame — I allowed myself to be swayed; I then was served a $ 14 cut of iceberg lettuce on a plate. Re: service, it is very, very slow, even though all 3 times, our table was one of 2 or 3 in the entire restaurant. You have to be proactive about wanting to order, wanting a refill of water, wanting the check… etc. tl;dr: even in this area, there exists better options.

After seeing the employees(skinny blonde girl that stinks like smoke) smoke in front of the restaurant then go inside and handle/prepare food and greet customers makes me want to throw up. Blonde girl… your hands, clothes, and hair reek of those nasty cigarettes. It’s unsanitary when it comes to food and beverage service. As an ex smoker, I know you truly have no idea how bad the smell is.

Airy nice place. But coffee was served cold at 330 pm on a Saturday brunch. Food was delicious.

This place was pretty good. They have a nice garden area in the back. They have a pre-fixe where you can order an entrée and it comes with orange juice and tea or coffee. I have to admit, I’m a sucker for pre-fixes(and I think it was only a couple dollars more than if you ordered just the sandwich, so it’s worth it), but I decided I wanted a sandwich from the a la carte menu instead. I ordered Le merguez(lamb sausage sandwich), and it was quite tasty! It didn’t look like a very large sandwich but I was satisfied when I was finished and I enjoyed the salad that came with it. My friend tried the omelette and that was quite tasty too. Service was friendly and our waters were refilled quite often. All in all a decent brunch place to check out if you’re in the neighborhood. I would go back and try one of their pizzas.

I love their pizzas. I was a little disappointed that the server didn’t know if the pizzas are premade or made to order when I asked him if I can get the seafood pizza without the leeks. By the way, I end up ordering it with the leeks. The rest of my meal wasn’t worth mentioning. I would just stick with the pizza!

The tarte flambée is delicious and so fresh. My boyfriend bought me here and we tried two different once — both satisfied our tummies. It’s a bit pricey here.

Party of five, seated in the back once someone at the meat counter noticed us and ushered a waitstaff over(they were mulling about in the side of the store that wasn’t open to enter at… huh). When you walk in, a long bar to the left and some seating in front and in the back, and a walk to the back reveals a covered(with AC if necessary) spot for larger parties to sit. Drinks included a wine list and oyster special($ 1 from 4−7p), and daily specials. We tried the 5 kinds of cheese/meats(any 5 for sharing, $ 25, you can also do 1 or 3). The comte was good, the jambon wasn’t worth it, and the goat cheese was good. Coppa I liked(but others said too hard). The last one was a cheese(not as familiar) that was too salty for me. Bread was fresh and olive oil had three wonderful full olives to munch on. The main course was Le Burger. It was burned too much at the edges to be enjoyed, though the salad and fries helped fill the meal out. Overall service was a little spotty, but once we ordered they stayed out of the way other than refilling the water. Opentable available for this space. You could get in a decent date here, and if you like French food more than I do, the duck wasn’t bad according to my friends. The pâté was a nice rich touch on top of it. May try the pizzas later, since people seem to rave about them, and I’ve never tried French-focused pizza.
