Came here on an unseasonably warm Wednesday after strolling through the village. Didn’t expect or see a hostess but found one after standing awkwardly trying to figure out whether to seat ourselves. The menu seems to have a strange mix of appetizers, standard«American» entrees, and then Italian food. Can only speak for the chicken tenders app which was as good as something like that can be. Would definitely come again if looking for a place to get some drinks and chat, not necessarily to eat Other stuff: really cheap drinks(¾ dollar beers, 5 $ mixed drinks) cool atmosphere three different seating areas– semi outside, across from the bar which has small round tables, and a third booth section that seemed to get more waitress attention.

Best way to sum up this place… go here if you wanna get sloshed and get a little hungry and want some bites in the process. This place took me back to my days of youth and clubbing when us girls used to find places where we could get alcohol for cheap. The alcoholic drinks are cheap and strong but all taste like they’ve come out of a pre-made ice machine. The italian food was decent. I got some pasta with mussels and for the price, I couldn’t believe how many mussels were on my plate! I’ve never seen a more generous portion at any restaurant(and I’ve eaten out quite a bit). The music was nice(enough to get you in the clubbing mood) though a little loud for what was supposed to have been a romantic intimate dinner for two. Though after a few drinks. the volume level seemed to have been just right.(Go figure!) Lol. I think this place is more suited to a group of girls or guys hanging out for a night, catching up and having some fun. Overall, my boyfriend and I decided that we would go back.

I loveeee this place. A cheap place to grab a few drinks and mingle amongst friends. Everyone here is friendly. Its usually crowded in the summer and on a late night weekend. The only thing I dont like about it is of you order at the bar you cant pay in a credit card. Only in cash. And not everyone carries cash. Oh and you must try the calamari. Its great!!! $ 5 mojitos and $ 3 shots everyday. Cant beat that!

I don’t have a clue why this place is called ASIA. But that’s what Unilocal says it is. There is no ASIA on the front door, and the menu has some kind of Italian name. Our group(mostly from Japan), was the most Asian thing in the place. Actually there is no name at all in front of this restaurantbar. It’s kind of mysterious that way. Who knows? It could be going out of business. Two of the beers we ordered(Dos XX and Sam Adams) were sold out. Our waitress Oya, from Turkey was great: friendly and accommodating. The place was quiet… and spookily empty. The food was bland, but not awful(though I did get a stomach ache). There’s not much else to say! It closed up tight at Midnight. Maybe it changes after that. –Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NYC drinkers

By far the worst meal we had while in New York. The restaurant is nice enough, but the menu is just weird. Mostly Italian-inspired, but then there are pot stickers. Or egg rolls. The first problem was the server, who was very confused while taking our orders. Surprisingly, she got only one order wrong, but as Bob said, a gratuiuty was automatically added to the bill. My companions said the egg roll appetizer was actually quite good, but the«Caesar salad» was limp romaine drenched in bottled dressing. Everyone’s entrée was bad. No flavor at all, overcooked pasta. The finishing touch was when the server plopped a can of generic grated Parmesan on the table. This is really prime real estate and deserves a much better establishment.

Now under the name ‘Asian 289′, the menu primarily Italian fare. Food was okay, but you expect much better in the village. Service was almost adequate, for which they automatically added a 22% gratuity(on a party of 2). It wasn’t the worst meal I’ve had, but with so many great choices, I doubt they will survive long… We won’t be going back.

This place is quite interesting. the décor of this place is ecelectic somewhat Asian, the menu is largely Italian food, yet they also go by the name Asian 289. It’s rather confusing, but expect to go in and have an Italian meal. The prices are dirt cheap here yet you get huge portions. The drinks are okay. The wine wasn’t that great but I have to try their cocktails which I hear are also dirt cheap. We went here really late at night, and the place was indeed packed with customers and was pretty noisy. Not a place for romantic quiet dinners, but a cheap meal that is rather satisfying.

This place is hard to miss at night. It’s tucked away just off 7th avenue, right behind caliente cab. My date and I decided to check it out. We were seated quickly on a friday night. There were plenty of people, both in the dining area and the main bar. We ordered the mussels with marinara for the appetizer, it was just the right portion, not a huge bowl as more of the pricier restaurants serve. For the main dish, I had the Spaghetti Al Carbonara. The dish was so good and the portion was almost family sized. My date ordered the eggplant parmigiana. Even after the meal, there was plenty leftover to take home. The other good thing I noticed on the menu was the $ 5 cocktails and wine. This restaurant has ample seating and good for couples or groups. It can get quite loud, so if you’re looking for a quiet dining experience, this is not the place.

This place also goes by the name«Asian» or «Asian 289.» All you need to know: $ 5.00 cocktails. Probably the most glorious sentence in the English language.

I’m not sure why nobody has started a new entry for Asian 289 because I believe that is the new official name of this place. We came upon this place after looking for a place for some drinks after dinner. Most of the spots in the WV were packed due to the Final Four so our last option was either Caliente Cab Co or this place. I was drawn to this place because of the sign outside that said $ 3 beers and $ 5 cocktails all night — score! We arrived around 10PM and waited to be seated. It was kind of cool that they had a host who seated people as opposed to a regular bar where you are on your own. We thought this place was more of a restaurant but I quickly noticed most groups were just drinking — seemed the food was a secondary option for most. The crowd seemed to be lively — lots of large groups enjoying themselves. It also seemed like more of a younger crowd, presumably in or right out of college. The place was pretty crowded and I saw several people just sitting there with empty drinks(very annoying) but luckily a table all the way in the front(essentially inside the separate windowed area) were leaving. The table was very removed from the rest of the bar, but it made it easier to chat. After looking at the menu, I realized this place was very similar to a spot near my college called Yee’s Village(ah, memories) a tiki bar-like spot where we would grab cheap tropical drinks(e.g. Suffering Bastards, Mai Tais or Scorpion Bowls) and hang out with our friends either for the night or before heading out elsewhere. There were so many options! Beers, $ 5 cocktails, $ 6 cocktails and the ever-potent $ 10 «special» cocktails(e.g. Long Island Ice Tea, etc.) I ordered the $ 6 Bahama Mama and it was strong and fruity. My friend got a piña colada which did not impress her and then a sangria which tasted very strange, kind of like weird grape juice. She didn’t finish it. The service was fine but we noticed that they added 18% gratuity to our bill — even though the menu clearly started groups of 4 and more would be charged gratuity(we were only 3 people). We thought that was kind of sketchy because we could’ve easily missed it and added more tip and imagine this might be what happens to most of the drunken groups there. However, it might also be a way for the restaurant to protect itself from drunken college kids who aren’t paying attention. What I liked most about this place was the music. It took me back to the early 90s all the way through early 2000s. I’m surprised they played this type of music for such a young crowd(who were likely babies when some of it came out) but I had a blast. As the night got later, we noticed more and more drunken behavior(since we sat near the window we observed a group of young looking guys without jackets(it was in the 40s) wrestling, running around and falling all over the place) and the place emptied out(I’m pretty sure it’s a pregame spot for most people). Only 2 bathrooms(one for each sex) and they were in okay condition. Short line to get in. I would definitely come back here — especially as a pre-game spot if I wanted to go elsewhere in the neighborhood.

This is a great place for drinks. There is an extensive menu and they are only $ 5. And they are very strong. The finger food here is good. The menu is Italian and the name is Italian but the window says«Asian» and the décor is Asian.

They’ve made the drinks $ 5 again, updated the drink menu and it’s even better!!! Not all of the food is horrible. For $ 7 I got a huge plate of spaghetti and meat sauce that was delish! The Fettuccine Alfredo is not bad either! If you’re a regular at this place, you’ll know what to order :-)

We stumbled upon this place when we were looking for a place to get a drink. We were seated quickly and handed menus. $ 3 draft beers, $ 5 and $ 6 drinks specials… hell yeah! The $ 5 mixed drinks were all good and really really strong! Pretty big size too. not just a rocks glass or a little plastic cup. Between all of us, we tried the fuzzy navel, woo woo, peach Bellini, Mamosa, and i Think something called a Blue Devil. had blue curacao and cranberry juice and something else in it… Either way those were all good an we kept them coming! They also had $ 5 glasses of wine. I had a pinot grigio to start and that was a bad bad bad decision. Now I know it was a $ 5 glass of wine so I wasn’t expecting to be drinking some 50 year old vintage or something, but that wine was terrible. Bad me for picking it, and bad me for not saying something to the waiter. Instead, I just passed it off to someone who was willing to take the bullet and got a mixed drink instead… a much better decision. Music was good, very top 40 pop, but that was ok. It got all of us in a good mood. Good place to just sit and lounge with friends. Server wasn’t the most attentive, but he did fill drink orders pretty quickly. One thing that I thought was kinda gross was when I was standing online for the bathroom, there was no door or curtain on the kitchen. I really don’t need to see whats going on in there. When we walked out of the place, we had no idea of the name of it so we looked up and saw the name«Asian.» Now, when I googled and Unilocaled the place so I could write this review, nothing came up. I had to do some serious searching to find that this place is really called«Cucina Stagionale Restaurant» but also goes by «Asian» or «Asian 289». Um, if they want people to come back they need to get their name set. I wouldn’t say I would eat there, menu looked like typical bar food and I didn’t think anything coming out of the kitchen looked that great. But $ 5 mixed drinks in the city is a pretty hard find, so that would probably be the biggest reason to return. And just to let you know, they do add and 18% gratuity onto parties of four or more. Not sure my waiter deserved any more than that…

Enjoy the moment The company and atmosphere make the difference Feel sexy and alluring Confident Top of the world Regaining control Happiness warms my heart Enjoy the moment Turning on my love light Champagne Rose is blooming beautifully A lady does not reveal her secret How to entire a gentleman’s heart Full of life once again Alive! Enjoy the moment Beautifully blushing and smiling Warm flames emitted to glow All dolled up for a night out in town Let go Cosmopolitan and martinis induces my laughter Perhaps Muppet Shots be included All night long Charmed like the Power of Three My inner sunshine rise high above from deep despair Where visibly you cannot stop your long direct gazes at me Of my mascara and seductive smile entices you to your heart’s core For I am juicy and sweet! As life is too short without having fun After my feature performance debut at nearby St. Veronica’s Church, I gathered here for a celebratory dinner with fellow poets and prolific artists. A bar and restaurant setting with a full-service bar to conjure mixed drinks plus more. I would highly recommend the pasta for the taste especially the price which fits in accord with today’s ailing economy. Albeit this business is now known as Asian 289, it continues to serve Italian cuisine with extreme minimal Asian titled appetizers of Chicken Satay, Chicken Yakitori and Gyoza. There are only two Asian entrees listed in their menu of Chicken Curry and Thai Chicken, which portrays the chefs and/or owners only knowledge of producing any Asian dishes using chicken as their main ingredient. Four stars to Cucina Stagionale Restaurant… a word of advice loose the Asian in the business name and eradicate it from your menu!

This is now called«Asian,» or something like that, as another reviewer mentioned. Which is a bit strange since the menu remains largely Italian. I had to try this place — the variation in reviews was so interesting, and I love to try a place where it sounds like I could get a good bargain. And we did get a good bargain — that was the highlight. For $ 15.95, the offer an app, entrée, cocktail or beer, coffee/tea, and dessert on Saturdays and Sundays. I had a crab cake, spaghetti and meatballs, coffee, tiramisu, and a strawberry margarita. It was nice for everything to be included for a reasonable price, so it was fun to know that each course would be followed by another. Portions are also generous, so we definitely left full! The problem was that none of the food was very good — edible, but tasted like low-quality, cheap ingredients(no mystery how they can offer those prices). The crab cake was a little greasy, the spaghetti/sauce ratio was off and the meatballs were bland, the coffee was super weak, and the tiramisu tasted like it was just sponge cake soaked in the weak coffee until soggy and layered with generic cool whip and cocoa — no kahlua flavor at all. The margarita was pretty good, though. The décor is confused and tacky, as other reviews have said… very dim lighting, turquoise vinyl chairs that look like they came from a diner or cafeteria, strange mirrors and lanterns all around. I’m all about reasonably priced Italian, but there’s quite a lot in New York — I’ll take my chances trying new places in Little Italy next time.

Came here the other day before a comedy show to grab a quick dinner. I used to spend a lot more time in the West Village but had never heard of this place. We actually ended up stumbling upon it because Leiderhosen was too crowded to get into. The food: Fresh salads, the tomatoes were fresh, the chicken was delicious… but it was cheap. I mean like 1995 menu prices. Glass of wine, app, dinner, dessert too I think, for something like $ 12 per person. After eating we left to go to the show, realized we were early, and came right back here to have another drink before it started. If you are in the area and hungry(or just want somewhere to hang and get a quick drink) this place is a great idea. I read below that someone said the mozz sticks are to die for… gives me reason enough to go back and try something else on the menu.

Went here for a meet-up with some friends because apparently the drinks were good and the food was good. Also I’m a bit confused is this restaurant called Asian’s now? It gets a big«Meh» from me. I would’ve been much happier going to Five Guys which is right across the street. I had the Penne ala Vodka. It was alright nothing to write Italy about. The sauce was a bit too runny for me personally. The portions are HUGE though. You can easily split an entrée with another person and still be satisfied. Look I’m easily swayed by a good drink and a reasonable price. The drinks here are extremely reasonable and a little bit above subpar. Good place to laugh with friends though, I will say that.

I found this place on my NY guide book and thought I should check it out with my friend. We had difficulty finding this place because we just couldn’t see the name on the front and passed by a coupld times. We ordered lunch special: penne ala vodka, tomato&mozzerella, tea and tiramisu. Everything is for just $ 9! It was the best Penne Ala Vodka I have ever had and the Tiramisu had the perfect amount of sweetness. Everything was fantastic! Although the restaurant seemed empty when we were there, I can see it would be a romantic dinner place. The server was nice too. I would love to go back again and order the same stuff! P. S. I have no idea why it says«Asian 289». When I went to the restaurant, the name was«Cucina Stagionale». It is an Italian restaurant.

The charm of this place is that it’s gaudy and it’s cheap. Between the asian décor, the christmas ornaments, the barroque fireplace and the Eastern European/Mexican waiting staff, this place is quite an experience. The food isn’t amazing, but it’s abundant. Their prix-fixe menu includes a salad, an entrée, a cocktail, dessert and coffee for $ 13. The cocktails list is ample, but only a handful of them are true and tried recipes; the rest are just their original concoctions. I like the lychee martini, and they make a good mojito. The staff is very nice. I left my phone here once, and the waiter held on to it and returned it to me that same night. On a separate occasion, I got a lychee martini with no lychee, and when I pointed it out, the waitress was really nice and brought me two lychees in my second drink. Overall good, friendly service. One last thing: they will always include 18% gratuity, so don’t be surprised when they bring you the tab.

I love this place! 4 dollar drinks aside, the food is actually tasty too! I had some chicken skewers in peanut sauce, a beef salad, and some other items. sorry not to specific, but it was a while ago and I was a little.intoxicated. But I recall the food being good and me and my crew ended up staying there for 4 fours, eating and drinking. The staff was kind, not the best but I didn’t care either way, I was having too much fun. Alot of tourists and locals come together here for loud laughter and good conversation, which adds a very happy and almost party-like atmosphere in the air. And did I mention the 4 dollar drinks? And they’re big too! Awesome restaurant, I will return.
