Breakfast was so so. I expected more from a New York deli. We wanted a good bagel and omelette this was more of Denny’s quality. Should have relied on the poor reviews but tried it anyway. I would probably try something else if I was looking for a breakfast in New York.

This place has fallen off a cliff. Have had several disappointing experiences in the past 2 years or so – keep going back because it’s right around the corner from my apartment. No more. Last night, I ordered a turkey club, asking in particular that they be sure to toast the bread. Got a trainwreck of a sandwich. The bread wasn’t even browned, just stiffened slightly so that it was really stale. Barely any lettuce, which was a good thing, since what there was of it was wilted and soggy. A slice of tomato the thickness of a shirt cardboard, with a similar taste. And the bacon: crumbled flakes of what could have been oat bran. Turkey dry, tasteless and shredded. A truly revolting experience. With a side of potato salad, also bland and lifeless, my bill was $ 20.50, so with a $ 4.50 tip(it wasn’t the waitress’s fault) I paid $ 25.00 for something they do better up the street at Café 82 for about half the price. Anyone can have an off night, but things here have been going downhill for a long time, and the bottom doesn’t seem to be in sight.

Had high hopes for this institution. But it really didn’t meet my expectations. I had the«Artie’s Own Roumanian Pastrami» sandwich. I am crazy for the sandwiches at Katz and at Schwarts in Montréal. This doesn’t compare in any way. Found the waiter anoying. Glad I went to give it a try, but won’t be back for Pastrami. Otherwise, it seems to be a middle of the road dinner. Overpriced, but just a diner.

1st time came here in 2011 and fell in love with this place. Complimentary Bucket of pickles and coleslaw that was the tastiest I think I ever had. Pastrami sandwich while pricy was worth every cent. Place was crowded with families but service was very quick and courteous. Don’t get to the area much but planned and went again in 2012 for pastrami burger and same experience even my non strict kosher observer friend had to agree it was worth sinning. My last experience 4 years later was nothing like what it was on 2 prior visits. Coleslaw and pickles are still tasty as ever but serving size went down, pastrami sandwich was still very very good, service was kinda slow even though the place was not as busy as it used to. Place just kind of lost that family eatery vibe. However, if be in the area will definitely stop by for pastrami sandwich or burger.

Since I moved to NYC in 2005, I’ve been searching the city for a pastrami or corned beef sandwich that mimics the flavor of Montréal Smoked Meat. With«Artie’s Own Roumanian Pastrami,“I’ve found the closest imitator yet. I loved it and can’t wait to go back again. Katz’s, Ben’s, etc have great corned beef and pastrami sandwiches — but they aren’t the same taste as Montréal Smoked Meat(and don’t be duped by Mile End Deli).

It’s been my Upper West Side Pastrami omelette place for years. I love the staffs there who always provide super friendly services; love their cold slaw and pickles to start my meals with. The must-have besides the Pastrami omelette was the latkes. Portion is not small, but always pack it home with extra slice or rye bread for snacks.

I’m surprised this place only has 3 stars. Artie’s is amazing. Hands down the best Jewish deli on the upper west side. Pastrami there is amazing. All their food is great. I usually get the split pea soup with a sandwich and share kanish with the table. You’ll love it.

I stopped by here for dinner with my friend and her son. We were seated right away and the service was super friendly. The matzo ball soup was delicious. I had a sandwich that was completely packed full of meat for a reasonable price. Yup, would definitely return! Great little deli and great food!

This place was such a disappointment. I went with my significant other for brunch. I had a corn beef omelette with fries as my side and he had a plain bagel with butter. They got both of our orders wrong. I got these two round fried potatoes(Can’t remember the technical name for it) instead of the fries and the omelette was terrible. I had to drench it in ketchup and mix in cream cheese for it to taste tolerable.(ketchup and cream cheese surprisingly mixes well.) My significant others order was literally the easiest thing in the world and they still got it wrong. They gave him a plain bagel with a side of cream cheese instead of butter.(Which I ended up using for my omelette.) The service was terrible. The waiters weren’t attentive what so ever. On our way out, my significant other overheard the waiters speaking near our table in Spanish about another table and saying such nasty, rude things about them. It was a terrible experience. Never again!

When you think New York deli or diner I can’t help but to recommend Artie’s. Staff was very polite and welcoming. Food was fresh and for the upper west side price was in my opinion a bargain for the quality. I also really like the traditional deli New York feel it has. Soup was brought in a stainless steel cup and then poured into your bowl. For me it’s always the little things :)

I can see why this restaurant has some less than positive reviews. However, you should really be coming to Artie’s for one thing and one thing only — the pastrami! If you get anything else, you’re on your own. I would recommend sandwich I — the pastrami and corned beef sandwich. Yes, it’s $ 18 for a sandwich, but it’s literally the biggest sandwich ever. I can only eat half in one sitting so it’s really two meals. And you get free cole slaw and pickles, win! The cole slaw is super delicious too. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy, but it’s a chill homey vibe with good music playing in the background. Our waitresses are always very nice and friendly as well.

I wish I had read the reviews before I walked in the door. they have a limited menu of sandwiches and omelettes and a few other Jewish classics like matzo ball soup. nothing on this menu is cheap. I found it odd they would charge almost $ 15 for a plain egg omelette w a side of fries, but not give you toast. the pastrami was definitely the only good thing we ate here. it was juicy and tender. the place also appears to be worn and in need of cleaning, but I’m sure it’s cleaner than it looks. they definitely get a lot of the business from families visiting the children’s museum. so they are definitely family friendly.

I was running down Broadway from one appointment to the next. There were small delis and a Chipotle nearby, but I ran inside to give this place a shot. I ordered a pastrami Reuben, open-faced. It was better than average and hit the spot. Lots of cheese on it, but who cares; those sorta things happen when you order takeout from a deli! It was big enough to split unless you have a monstrous appetite. My friend got a chocolate egg cream and it was exactly as you’d expect: delicious. I got a slice of plain cheesecake to splurge. It was very average, but good enough of you’re craving cheesecake. If I’m in the area I’d come back if I’m starving. If you want a very modest and authentic NY deli experience that isn’t Katz’s or Carnegie, this would be the place.

Kind of average delicatessen. There are many other cheaper diners you could go to for a quality meal. Overall it was too expensive for what I got and I could have cooked better at home. Watched and listened to(I’m assuming) a supervisor scream at his staff the entire time we were there. I won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend.

I used to visit this place a lot more when I lived on the UWS. Lately it was due to coincidence that I was able to make a trip back here for a quick dinner. I used to love coming here for their pastrami sandwiches. I was glad to see that nothing has really changed based on my recent visit. The meat was still tasty and juicy. Portions were still large. They still had their signature complimentary cole slaw and pickles, which are always a nice addition to the meal. I added a side of fries, which was also tasty and satisfying. The service was pretty decent. The place was surprisingly quiet for dinner, but overall the food and dining experience was solid. If I still lived in this neighborhood, I’d definitely be back for more visits, but it’s good to know that if I’m in the area it’s still a great place to grab a dependable deli sandwich.

We chose this deli for brunch this morning instead of the Carnegie, how are usual standard for Sunday morning brunch. Carnegie is currently closed. We chose Ortiz Delhi because we knew they would have all of our standard brunch items. When we arrived a little after 10 on a Sunday morning, there were very few people eating and most of the tables were unoccupied. I was a little bit concern about the lack of diners but we were seated and our waiter was very pleasant. we discussed some dietary concerns and he told us there will be no problem accommodating these. We ordered omelets, bagels and lox, french toast, and blintzes. Everything was very good and we enjoyed a nice Father’s Day Sunday morning brunch.

I have been here a few times for their breakfast. Anytime I am in New York, I love going here for their breakfast menu. It is convenient and a wonderful experience. I love the décor of this place. It has a slight old-fashion feel to it; yet, it is simple. They appear to not go too far with the old-fashion part of the look, which I like. The employees appear to do great at keeping everything clean. There has only been one time that I have ever asked a waiter to clean a table after having sat down. They apologized for that incident, and they obviously felt bad. All and all, I always feel comfortable anytime I am here. The employees here are always friendly, and they appear to know how to do their jobs well. They appear to always be on top of their duties. They are almost always busy so they often do not have time for conversation, which is not a big deal. However, they are helpful with suggestions and questions I may have. The food here is delicious! This place never fails to impress me, no matter what I order. This is one of the few places where I like to try different things most of the time that I am here(most other places, I stick with the same plate majority of the time). My favorite plate here is the eggs benedict. I do not think I have ever had to wait any longer than five minutes for my plate to be served to me. It is rare that I say that about places. The prices are reasonable, considering the quality and quantity of what I get. When I am in New York and looking for good breakfast, I will continue checking out this place. This place never fails to please.

Artie’s is very much your average NY deli, nothing particularly special about it. Waitstaff were kind and friendly but the food tasted a little bland. I should’ve known something was off when the place was nearly empty on a Saturday morning. On a positive note, the potato pancakes were really good. Served the traditional style with apple sauce.

I don’t know if it’s the best, it’s New York and there is Deli everywhere. I just keep coming back, sometimes the service is off putting but others are great. The food is supper consistent too. Two different pickles, I don’t like the white and wet cabbage though. You’ll think the sandwich price is high, but they give you enough for a couple to share.
