Amy’s Nail And Spa Salon

Amy’s Nails is really great for the value and the convenience. It’s located literally right outside the 1 train. I’ve gotten a mani and pedi here done by Tony and he did an awesome job. I was in a rush and he helped me dry my nails in under 5 minutes! Sometimes there is a bit of a wait. Basic nail shop, but they do a great job.

Pretty decent of a place and definitely going to be a returning customer. As I am new to the WaHi area it was tough to find a good nail salon, but Amy’s nail salon will be my new place. I got a gel manicure for $ 22 (winter special) and Kevin did an awesome job. Color is still on over a week later. He took his time and was very meticulous with my nails and how he did them. The salon itself is nothing special and could use a bit of a face lift, but from what I saw it was clean and the staff works hard. Definitely a place to try.

I asked them as I walked in almost the closing time what time they would be closing. They took me and have two people do mani and pedicure in the same time. The job was done within about 7−9mins. Then they didn’t have me wait and dry my nails just spray the fast dry nail polish. After all, manicure nails have bubble bump and also peal in a couple days later. The pedicure normally last for weeks but this place it peal in between first week and week 2.

One word– KEVIN! This man is a very VERY skilled masseuse and he gives the cheapest and best massages in Manhattan. They do excellent job with nail services as well. Yes, the place is a dingy hole in the wall but their staff works hard and do great job! I’ve been going here for a year now and have never been disappointed. Don’t be cheap and TIP THEM WELL!!! :)

Decent place — this is my default salon because of proximity. I think for acrylic, Amy and Lily are the best. They also have a good selection of spa pedicures. They do have a good number of massaging chairs, too. I love their pedicures
I think for the prices, the services are sufficient. Three stars because the work is not always consistent and sometimes they are in a rush so make sure your filing is straight and everything looks good before you leave! I did have an instance where I had to re-​file my nails because some nails were uneven.
There are definitely better salons, but this place is clean, cheap, good number of staff/​friendly, and convenient. Also, it’s not loud — I’ve noticed most salons in Washington heights are filled with shrieking women and general loud conversations… Not conducive to relaxation. At Amy’s I know what to expect.

This is so close to my apartment and I would love to go here but the smell of mold literally made me sick, I actually started having trouble breathing after only 10 minutes and had to leave. I know some people aren’t as sensitive to mold as I am but honestly mold is bad for everyone. It makes me sad for the people who have to work there.

Three Strikes and you’re out! I tried three separate times to really like this place as it’s the closest to my apartment but the quality and service here is really sub-​par.
Final straw was waiting a while for a gel manicure because the last one I had gotten there did not last close to two weeks. I sat there and sat without having them ask me if I had gel on my nails already.
They finally came over and wrapped my fingertips in tin foil and then wanted to use the machine they use on fake nails and it just looked to harsh for my actual nails so I requested they use a normal file. She pulled it out of the drawer and filed my nails.
Then she did such a rush job on the actual gel and it just looked so bad because the gel wasn’t curing correctly and had wrinkles. I showed her when they were dry that there were bumps and wrinkles and she fixed two nails. Why would you let that fly?
I also think it was the owner who did my nails because she kept stopping my manicure to put dirty money in the register and then go back to touching my hands. She never washed her hands once and had other people’s «nail dust» on her hands which was a little nauseating.
Also– her tools were not in the sanitizer box thing, they just sat on her desk and she used them customer after customer. I asked her to use new ones and she said she didn’t have any.
Please do yourself a favor and walk either way on Broadway and find a nicer/​more sanitary place. This is just not it.

Terrible!!! Just terrible! I went in for a pedi this evening, as soon as I sat down a women began working on my feet. After she cut my nails, another customer walked in and she just looked at both of us. She told me that her appointment came in and that she needs to tend to him. I’m going to assume the women who spoke to me next was the «owner», she tells me that she has someone else for me. An older man comes and sits down and I wished I would have said something but this man was soooooooo rough! As he «clean» my nails, I cringed my teeth, I was in pain!!! He didn’t cut my cuticles nor did he clean under my nails, he didn’t take his time and he didn’t seem to care that he was hurting me. I was watching nexflix so I wasn’t paying much attention but I did noticed that he left behind some nail polish on the edge of my nail, which I thought he was going to clean before applying new nail polish. As he finished his terrible pedi, I asked him to apply MY quick dry, and he had lot to say to me. As he applied my quick dry, he began to talk to the women next to him about it! How effing rude!!! If that wasn’t it, this man stood over my shoulder waiting for a tip then he snatched the tip I gave him out of my hand and walked away without a thank you. When I got home, I took a closer look at my toes and this man didn’t clean off the pervious nail polish so now I have green and pink nail polish on!!! Not only that but my feet usually feel like a baby’s butt after a pedi but instead it feels like sandpaper. Ohhhh and one of my toes is still in a bit of pain from all roughness of the pedi! I had to finish the job at home, a job that was suppose to be done by this man! Never again will I go to this place!!! Neverrrrrr

Worst. I’ve been a customer here for four years and have seen three different owners. This management is hands down the worst. It’s quick and inexpensive, but I’d rather spend more for a lasting, well done job and better service. The ladies in here are straight up RUDE. Either they’re talking on the phone or to each other in Chinese, not paying attention to the customer. Maybe if they’d focus more on the job, the end result wouldn’t be so sloppy. Very unprofessional. Also note, Lily (does acrylics) will make an appointment with you and then make you wait an hour. Or ask you to come another day. I know I’m not the only woman that has other things to do; when an appointment is made for 8 pm and the customer shows up on schedule (7:50 pm, in my case) you don’t let a walk in take the seat. I would give 0 stars if I could for the lack of respect for my time, unprofessional behavior, and sloppy work. Go here if you’re in a DESPERATE pinch to get your nails done. Otherwise, don’t waste your time and money.

Love this place. They always take me, even if it’s late and their gel manicures last longer than when I go to more expensive places.
It gets crowded on certain nights, but it’s worth the wait. Amy and her staff are great. Highly recommend.

First Time had a pedicure and an underarm wax by one of the guys. LOVED IT omg legs rubbed really well lol took his time with the pedicure and was SO attentive with my underarm wax like he took his time tweezed and everything. Well worth the trip from Jersey
