My favorite salon. I’ve been going for as long as I can remember! I live in Connecticut and travel here to have my hair cut! I love for Carmen to cut my hair but wouldn’t have a problem with anyone cutting it who works there. For the people who are reviewing and saying the ladies are rude, I don’t think they are. They speak spanish because that is their 1st language. Get to know them, they are all very nice! If you want your hair done exactly the way you dreamed I say you give this place a try! My best kept secret :)

I am 22 and have been going here since I was 11 when they were located on amsterdam ave. I have never been unsatisfied with my hair. The customer service can be iffy at times but that is something I have only witnessed with obnoxious customers. You can bring your own products(I bring my own deep conditioner) but they have done amazing work with my hair using their own products/concoctions and over the years it has gone from being rough/coarse to soft(even when it’s not done) with their care They have also helped me transition from relaxed to natural hair the past 3 years. Pointers: For a trim or a style cut go to Carmen– she does a terrific job and it looks like she cuts little to no hair(if that’s what you want). She can also do a good eye brow wax. She also does the best blow out after Milagros. For a style cut go to Milagros(the owner) — she does an amazing thing but she always cuts a lot off… Also, she does the best blow out. She also does the best eyebrows but be specific if you want it thick or shaped a certain way, otherwise they will be extremely arched and skinny. Don’t get me wrong if you tell her exactly how you want it it WILL be amazing. For a relaxer go to Bruna or Griselle. For a color– any type: bleach, dye, rinse, highlights… go to Griselle. I make a point of arriving at 5 the latest any day and never after 12 on a sunday because you will be there forever. Side note: while every dominican hair salon CAN wash and set hair it does not mean they SHOULD. I have tried other dominican salons and they have tore my hair up. I swear by Rosalina’s and everyone who I’ve introduced it to loves it. Though I can honestly say, they often need time to warm up to your face to patiently deal with natural hair but don’t let it deter you if that’s the case. It is well worth it.

I only came to this place for Rosemary. Since she is no longer there, I stopped going. They are telling people that she stopped working but that is not true. She works at 2094 Amsterdam and takes appointments. The rest of the employees act like they don’t wanna be bothered with you or talk about you in Spanish like you don’t know what they are saying.(I was born and raised in the Bronx so I know enough Spanish to know when someone is talking about me). The only good thing I can say about this place is that they open really early 6:30 on Saturdays and Sundays and 7:30 on weekdays. So if u have a lot planned for the day, you can get ur hair done first and have the rest of the day to yourself. They do good work but for me, customer service goes a long way.

My hair always looks GREAT when I leave the salon but I bring my own products(they use cheap salon products not sulfate free) n the service is the worst. The ladies who roller set your hair rarely turns on the hair dryer for their clients. Positive comment is that they are fairly quick. The salon atmosphere can be a bit overwhelming, especially when music is playing loud. I am comfortable with the price n the results of my hair.

I want to put no stars bc every dominican salon can wash & blow, but the service is what counts and they have ZEROSERVICE! I called ahead they said they close at 6:30, I get there at 6:15 and the washer Miguelina refuses to give me a deep condition bc theyre closing. If they dont want to do a thorough job near closing then they shouldnt be open period. The lady who blew me out finished and told me to deep condition next time… uhm thats what I asked for??? there wont be a next time. Oh! almost forgot the baby roach crawling on my seat ugh just gross! what a waste of $

so I came in today… it’s been a while, whoever the lady is that washes the hair I LOVEHER… however the girl that blew my hair out was sooo rude, she really pissed me off. She asked me why didn’t I relax my hair and said that my hair was lifeless, flat, uneven etc… andI was like ummm yeah that’s why I came in to get it done, and also I keep my hair braided and I wear wigs… she kept trying to get me to cut my hair… and then I was made because they didn’t put my hair in the rollers… Rosalina…ya’ll fell off, I gotta find a new spot!

I went here today at 11:45 and I was out by 1:00! That is amazing for a Dominican salon. I would go early and not on the weekend though— this place was packed! I got a wash and set– The wash was great, my scalp is clean and she scrubbed my head hard like I like it. I have mixed, natural hair so it has a mind of its own. They were going to sit me under the dryer but the lady asked me if I wanted to get it blown out. I agreed and she started on my head and I thought it was going to take forever. But, I never knew my hair could ever be so straight.(I’ve had relaxers, weaves, braids, you name it). She did a great job. Of course, she didn’t want to trim my hair but I could have convinced her I just figured I’d do it myself. Hair looks great, took an hour and a 15, and I only spent TWENTYFIVEDOLLARS! $ 25!!! Oh, and they even deep conditioned it. I will be returning(but not too much because the heat on the hair is so damaging).
