I live in miami and drove up here to try this new spot. Must say some of the best bbq I’ve had. I am a foodie and appreciate quality food. This place has it all. Will be driving back up its worth it!

Very good BBQ been waiting for it to open passed by saw was open. Mac and cheese really good. Baked beans and cornbread can use a lot of work. Baked beans bland corn bread dry but meats were great moist. Got the combo wit ribs and brisket only gave one sauce but That was cool. Will go back to try different foods.

First time. Place is brand new. Staff friendly. Pros — This place is similar to scrubbys BBQ however The meat is so juicy falls off the bones had ½ chicken and brisket(ribs were sold out) sauce is sweet with little tangy kick. Meal comes with two sides I had Mac n cheese which was good has crumbs of cornbread mixed in. Collard greens too sweet(taste more like Oakra & tomato). Con –needs more sides to choose from. Needs southern drinks(sweet tea). Sauce should be room temperate.

The Burning Oak! It’s finally open, After weeks of anticipation and smelling the bar b q from Mcnab Rd. The delicious smell of bar b q lures you inside to a beautiful restaurant, where you are greeted by a friendly staff. The owner recommended the pulled pork sand which, and it doesn’t disappoint. I love the cornbread, it’s that perfect balance of moisture and taste. The prices are reasonable and the fact that this place is so great and local is amazing. The gem of North Lauderdale is The Burning Oak!!!

Two visits and I’m hooked. REAL wood-smoked barbeque! First visit, tried the ribs: meaty, smokey and delicious. Great sauce, too, but the rub and smoke added more than sufficient flavor. Corn bread was good(needs a little work but quite acceptable) and the coleslaw was good, too(not Shorty’s-good but good). My friend had the chicken and I could not believe how moist and tender it was. I NEVER order barbequed chicken out because it’s always dry and nearly flavorless but this was different; even the breast was juicy. Second visit, ordered the chicken; beautiful, juicy barbequed half chicken(and not one of those mutant miniature birds they serve at Boston Market — full sized!). It was delicious and I could barely finish it. The corn bread was a little better this time and the collard greens were terrific; tasty with bits of pork for flavor. Nice! My friend had the pulled pork sandwich and It was quite good, too, based on the sample he provided. ;) I may revisit this review and give them five stars after a few more visits(and when they smooth out a few little rough spots, service-wise; nothing major but a little less than perfect. No problems but not a five-star experience — yet.). In the meantime, this is definitely among the top five places for ‘que in South Florida. Kudos!

Experience 1: Decided to call a dinner audible after realizing they were finally open for business. I expected more of a BBQ smell when I walked in, so I was a bit worried how good the food would be. I ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of baked beans. The brisket was pretty good, a little fatty, but good none the less. The beans, however, were INSANE. I’ma country boy that loves baked beans and these were some of the best I’d ever had. I could have eaten the beans alone for my meal and been completely content. Experience 2: Because the beans were so good during Experience #1, I decided to go back and try something else. This time around I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and of course a side of baked beans. The beans, again, were great and the pulled pork as good as I hoped it would be. Experience 3: This is the experience that made me give it 4 stars as opposed to 5. For starters — the beans, the beans. The beans that I had come to love didn’t quite taste the same. I was already disappointed by the size of the side that accompanied the plate. In my other trips, I opted for the sandwich. I decided to go with the plate this time because I wasn’t in the mood for fries. This was a mistake, and another reason why I lowered my rating. The sandwich comes with fries for about $ 7, while an extra side will run you $ 3. The plate, priced at $ 10 comes with a side and cornbread but excludes the fries. In my opinion the sandwich is the better value if you’re ok with no cornbread. The size of the $ 3 side is MUCH larger than the side that comes with the plate and the amount of meat seemed to be exactly the same. The plate SHOULD include TWO sides and then it’d make more sense. Overall, I do like this place and plan on eating there again. Hopefully someone in management reads this and adds a side to the plate, or includes the $ 3 side portion instead of that little cup. Oh, and be sure to add your own sauce before you leave. The sauce they provide is really small. There’s DIY sauce on the tables.

This was my first visit to the restaurant. Friendly & helpful staff, clean visible kitchen. Food was appealing & tasted fresh. St. Louis ribs were tasty & cornbread was DELICIOUS! Candy bacon was ok, not exactly what I expected(not sure if smoked bacon was used) it had a distinct after taste(not a bad one, just different). Overall happy to have a good & clean bbq place in the neighborhood, will definitely recommend & visit again.

Flavor is not on point. Had the ribs and chicken combo $ 17. The ribs were kind of hard and the flavor just wasn’t there. It came w/a small cup of their bbq sauce which wasn’t that great and it didn’t even add much to the flavor. Chicken was alright. I mean, u can’t really mess up chicken. The sweet potato fries were pretty bad. It’s literally just a sweet potato sliced up in wedges. No seasonings of any type. Same goes for regular fries. The one thing that was gd was their corn bread. All in all, a gd spot to hit instead of a McD’s or Wendy’s, but I probably wouldn’t go back unless I absolutely had to.

I’m a business owner in the area; so I’m always looking for new lunch & dinner options for myself & the office. We stopped by for some BBQ& have found a new regular spot for sure. We keep our lunch breaks short, so these guys were awesome in the speed in which they had our food prepared. Its hard to find really good food, and service that’s quick and efficient too. These guys know what they’re doing! Job well done here, these guys have a great operation going. I had the brisket(very flavorful & tender), Mac & cheese(taste good & fresh), Collards(very nicely seasoned), and corn bread(my fave). Between myself and the rest of my table everybody loved the food. Highly recommend.

I ordered the sliced brisket, bbq beans, cornbread. The brisket was not smokey and little bland but it was tender albeit not quite as crispy on outside as I would have liked. Beans were decent. Cornbread was cold and a little dry. Place spotless, staff great, prices reasonable. The paper on the trays tears and gets into your food when cutting into the beef. I will return but will try something else next time.

Tom Jenkins BBQ is in a top class by themselves so please do not compare. First time customer here because I love to support local business and I love good BBQSO here’s my critique… I ordered the chicken and pork combo with sweet potato fries and a side of collards. The chicken was room temperature by the time I got home. The collards were horrible! And too much pot water served in my container. The pork was okay but overall the food seemed dry and not really well seasoned. ABSOLUTELY not happy about swiping my payment in the cashier’s cell phone.

First and last time here, sauce containers were ¼ filled. Turkey was hard and dry, ribs were all tendons. Not impressed

I am so excited this spot finally opened! The pulled pork was delicious! It was served tender and great quality meat. The staff is super friendly and quick! I also picked on my friend’s ribs and briscuit, which were both also incredible. BESTCOLLARDGREENSINTHEWORLD! I recommend this place to anyone in the Ft. Lauderdale area.

My first visit they had not opened as of yet so I was disappointed. Today however they met my expectations, mostly. Mostly because I am a BBQ snob. I run my own smoker and do brisket about every two months at home. If I take my brisket out of the mix and compare them to others in the greater Ft Lauderdale area(Tom Jenkins, Lil Reds, Smokey Bones) and others, Burning Oak Hands down better. The bigger question pending is will I be back. No doubt about it as I still have things on the menu to try and report on. Overall nice job Craig.

Being a long time fan of Tom Jenkins but hating the drive all the way downtown, I was excited about this new BBQ spot opening in northwest Broward. I’ll be honest and say that I’m not a BBQ snob. I don’t really know the difference between the variations of Texas, Memphis and St. Louis smoked meats. I just know what I like… and I like the Burning Oak. The pork was juicy, tender and full of flavor. The slaw was a little tart but the blue cheese added a nice aftertaste and I really enjoyed it. The baked beans are slightly different from what I’m use to and there is a taste that I can’t identify… I just know that it reminds me of the south. Overall, a very good meal. I’m looking forward to going back and especially trying the brisket as well as pork and slaw sandwich. Welcome to the neighborhood Burning Oak! I hope you hang around for awhile.
