Cheaper than Gaboose and better. The waitress was so sweet, gave us free dessert. Really fresh and tasty. Just like being in Seoul. Visited there 3 yrs back.

Unfortunately, I was informed tonight, while at my second visit to Da Mee Rak, that the owenership is changing. How sad for the wonderful, highly passionate family, that serves such tasty food! Perhaps the next owners shall keep their service as wonderful, but only experience will tell. Stay tuned.

NICEPLACE, people are super kind, my son loved the shrimp and the bulgogi was better than Georgia. I didnt know about the Unilocal coupon so that was a bummer, but over all affordable. We’ll be back :-)

My experience at this fine establishment was absolutely posititively impeccable. The staff, both two dashing young ladies, were highly personable and charismatic, preparing the food while also managing to enrich myself and friend with the Korean culture. After a short wait for the food, we were served with smiles and hospitality. The dishes were rich, with well proportioned servings and a delicate aesthetic. As I finish with my meal and this review, a pang of sadness fills my heart, knowing that I have to part ways with newly made friends and unparalleled cuisine. Bravo!

First time at Korean BBQ. Very good food. Waitress was very nice. I would suggest you go in after researching Korean specialties beforehand as I did find it a little difficult to know what to order. Menu isn’t very descriptive. Trying Gabose next time to compare.

Went on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty quit. My girlfriend and i wanted to try something new. The place is traditional Korean. Menu and signs largely in Korean with english translations. The host and waitress made us feel very comfortable and welcome. Very friendly. Not being Korean they helped us navigate the menu and find dishes we would like. The food was delicious. Nice portions size and reasonable pricing. Fun place to out with a group. Def worth a try if you’re in the area!

This place would score higher for me but after having been here several times before they changed management/the menu, I have to say I’m disappointed with the new changes. The food and service is still good, and the new table-top burners are nice. But they got rid of the calamari. WHY?! What’s even more painful is that they do carry calamari, but they just won’t grill it like they used to. You can still order it in other dishes I believe but it was just to die for when it was grilled. Prices are a little high but worth it.

Happy to finally see a Korean BBQ place in South Florida. Please venture, and taste a little of everything, you will be happy you did. We had the Chadol(thin marbled tender beef) the Galbi(slightly sweet-marinated short rib) Sam Gyup Sal(pork belly) Everything was delish!!! If you’re trying Korean for the first time these are tried and true picks! My hubby is Korean and we live in California. We were visiting my family, and this place was nice to find so my family could try Korean delish eats!!! Everyone loved it! What’s not to like, tender beef cuts, pork belly, and ribs??? Sign me up! We had the Bimbimbap. It’s rice with yummy veggies and a gooey fried egg on top, a definite crowd pleaser!!! Just add red sauce(Gochujang) it can be mild or spicy the amount of sauce will determine :) We had Soondubu. Softened tofu soup. The tofu is very tender and soft much like a soft mozzarella. The soup is seasoned with red pepper, garlic, tons of other amazingness, and loaded with veggies. It can get spicy but you can ask for mild if you’re a rookie :) Overall very pleased with our meal, and service was excellent!

I hail from Southern California where they have some of the best Korean food outside of Korea. So when my wife and I found this spot, we were both excited and apprehensive at the same time to try this place. We wanted to show my wife’s side of the family what Korean food had to offer, and luckily this place did not disappoint. We started off with the standard galbi, chadol, and samgyupsal trio of meats(marinated short ribs, thin beef brisket, and pork belly). There is a decent spread of side dishes(banchan) which are bottomless(free refills). And we had a hot stone pot bibimbap and soontofu soup. Both were good. And in true Korean fashion, there was plenty of beer and soju. I felt that this place was a decent representation of Korean bbq/cuisine. Not one of the many Chinese/Korean/Japanese – teriyaki/sushi, mix everything together type of places. After reading many of the reviews on here, I take it that the place is under new ownership, because the owner told us they’ve been there for only 4 months. With that said, the menu compared to many aforementioned reviews is different. So take it from an actual Korean guy to tell you that this Korean restaurant in south Florida is actually a good one. Cheers.

OMG I found my new home! Went there on a whim after seeing many positive ratings on Unilocal, was looking for a cheaper alternative to Gabose… but what I also found was one that was also superior… I have to happily say the reviewers didn’t steer me wrong on this one!!! Staff was the friendliest that i have encountered in a very long time. There were 3 of us and everyone was very happy. We had the chicken bulgogi and the beef bulgogi, Kalbi beef, some amazing fried dumpling, and an order of Tteokbokki(hot spicy rice cake). the sides were plentiful and kept coming. The cook even came out to ask us how it was and gave us the most flavorful and refreshing salad! I must agree with Wilbur C. the meat was a much higher quality than that at Gabose and it was also seasoned much better. my only negative and it was very small was that I wasn’t a fan of the Mochi, but part of it was that I dont like green tea ice cream. the other part was that I felt the outer skin was too thick, flavorless, and not chewy enough. but even with that THEYGETAN A! I will be coming back many more times! Thanks for the great meal!

I attended a friend’s birthday dinner here. In order to get the full experience we decided to cook for ourselves. The food was good, well seasoned and light. The staff was friendly and attentive. They explained the menu since it was our first time dining there. They didn’t seem bothered by our questions and they didn’t rush us as we dined. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

This was my first time having Korean BBQ and it was«all that and a bag of chips.» The décor-intimate and trendy. The service-good. The food-crazy flavorful. **Note: If you are dating someone that you really are attracted to, they are willing to try new foods and you can see yourself potentially having a long future with them… then this is the place to eat. So, check it… I ordered the Korean Barbecued Beef Short Ribs and the BBQ pork, which was Very very good! The flavors in the BBQ sauce are super tasty. The sides were good too and their Bubble tea was really tasty… This is a good spot to eat… I will BE back…

This place was just ok, and I had high hopes for it. First off, I love how many grill stations they have. We did not grill our own meat, so that might be where we went wrong. I came in a group of four. We ordered the seafood pancake. It was very good, but thinner than other places I have been to. They had barley tea, always a plus. The bulgogi was good, but I felt that the portion was a tad small. Also it was served on top of onions that were not cooked, even though the dish was sizzling when it came out. The galbi had the same issue with onions, and the meat was not fall off the bone. Actually quite a bit chewy. I would pass on this dish. The black bean noodle dish was not authentic at all. The sauce was incredibly thin and the noodles were of the packaged variety and not the fresh ones. The meat it came with was near impossible to chew. When we asked the server if one was enough to share, she said it was small, so we ordered two. They portion is very large, and we did not really like it, so we had two huge bowls of it left on the table when we were done eating. The banchan was plentiful. They gave us almost 10 different dishes. The banchan was pretty generic, but we were able to order seconds of the ones we did enjoy. The bulgogi came with lettuce, as some Unilocalers mentioned, we were not charged extra for it. I was however missing the rice. With everything we ordered, we did not get any rice on the side.

This is my first time having Korean food. I was skeptical at first because I’m not a very adventurous eater, but much to my surprise, it is very enjoyable! Although I do not have any other Korean food experience to compare to, this restaurant gave me a positive experience!

Solid Korean food! I ordered the pork/rice cake bokum extra spicy and that is what I got, along with six banchan plus a nice serving of kimchi. The bokum was loaded down with lots of kimchi and rice cakes with a nice amount of pork. The spice level was almost at my desired level(I know they always tone it down for non-Koreans). The kimchi was well made and had that nice tang to it. Banchan included bean sprouts with sesame, steamed water spinach, steamed broccoli with curry gravy, pickled zucchini, daikon pickle, and one other dish that doesn’t come to mind right now. Service was friendly and prompt. BBQ grill tables are available for larger parties. The restaurant is located in the standalone building in the parking lot of the strip mall that includes Minji Café.

I finally got around to trying Da Mee Rak. The reason I have delayed, is because of the wide variation in reviews, and the changes in ownership, I was hesitant to try, but I finally decided to just throw caution to the wind, and try it out for better or for worse. Here are my observations: Pros: 8, count’em 8! Korean style BBQ tables. Very friendly,(& beautiful) Korean ladies staff. Affordable option to Gabose. 8, count’em 8! Korean style BBQ tables. Meat was superior to Gabose, & half the price. Lettuce & Mushrooms & Onions for the meat. 8, count’em 8! Korean style BBQ tables. Dedicated Korean restaurant /menu, no sushi, a pet peeve of mine. Do one thing & do it well. Parking & location very convenient. Cons: Banchans were OK, not bad, just OK, could use improvement. Salad same, OK, not bad, but not stellar. This place definitely has potential! Like I said, it is an affordable option to Gabose which is priced out of sight for regular Korean BBQ visits,(at least for me) like for lunchtime & it is not crowded. I was told the restaurant has been opened for 13 years, under different mgmt. Current owners are a Korean family that were previously in the Korean supermarket business in Hollywood. On my visit, there happened to be a large group of Korean ladies, like I guess the local Korean women’s auxiliary? First it was a group of five, then like 10, and they kept coming in, by the time I left it was like 25! I think the staff was kinda caught off guard, but I was encouraged by this meeting of so many local Koreans, & at the same time was amazed at how many Koreans are actually making S. Fla home. Thankfully I had already put in my order. This was at lunchtime BTW. The meat here was the star attraction. It was tender, flavorful, and marvelous on the gas grill table. Could not have been tastier. One suggestion would be to include green onion along with the mushrooms for grilling, it is kind of like a MUST for the BBQ. There were a meager amount in the salad. Charge for it if you must, but make this an option. I tried both the Kalbi and the Bulgogi in one sitting, & I ate EVERY last morsel. As for the banchan, I would like to see eggplant, radish kimchi, yellow daikon, and drop the broccoli. Your banchans are critical to the meal, focus on improving these. Overall was very happy with the meat, I am giving 4 stars will definitely return for the full Korean BBQ experience. ATTNMGMT! — — - please, PLEASE take note of the suggestions, they are constructive criticism, I believe Da Mee Rak has potential to be really fantastic. Hope to give 5 stars next few visits.

I sauntered into Da Mee Rak and quickly noticed I was the lone gunman aiming my sights at their menu. As I scanned it for targets a group of uncharacteristically boisterous Asians burst through the front door. There were so many I had a flashback of a gambling/feeding frenzy I’d witnessed at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino craps table. You thought that game was just for 40-tippin’, bleezy smoking thugs from South Central.WRONG.Koreans run dem 7s and 11s. After a bunch of apologetic bowing the host pointed toward the NE corner of the plaza. More on that later, right now let’s get to my experience. Usually I don’t eat alone like I’m Steven Glansberg…
…but my windows were getting tinted nearby and I had some time to kill. Here’s how I did it – Banchan — more like ‘blandchan’. I’m not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I’d only eat these complimentary veggie apps if I needed more fiber in my diet AND there was a global shortage of Fiber-One bars. Dubu Buchim — pan fried tofu was lacking the crispy outer layer I’m accustomed to but the accompanying seasoned soy sauce was bo$$. Daegu Chigae — seafood stew in a deadly spicy broth. Daegu means cod and that fish was well represented. In fact I had to keep checking my mouth for fishhooks because my soup shared two characteristics with the ‘chumsicle’ that makes frequent appearances on shark week – 1. previously frozen 2. full of fish carcasses There were so many racquetball-sized pieces of fish I could’ve sworn they were trying to get rid of it. Plus I felt like I was going through some aboriginal initiation ceremony because I was getting repeatedly stabbed around the face and mouth with fishbones. I don’t expect to find that many in a soup, and I consider it laziness on the part of the kitchen staff. The broth, mussels and shrimp were all on point though. Gyeran Jjim — I said put-an-egg-on-it and they listened –
An egg is just a delicious unfertilized bird. Mix a yolk with beef’s fibrous ‘tendoncies’ and they’ll be best bros. So what do you do with all the left over whites that don’t belong in Bibimbap(meaty fried rice) or Yukhoe(steak tartar)? It’s whipped into an omelet with scallions in a hot pot filled with beef broth. Fluffy, savory, and best of all… compliments of the chef. Korean BBQ — They excel at this, but I feel like that’s like saying you’re really good at drawing circles with a math compass. Do-it-yourself BBQ restaurants have been around since Genghis Khan was shooting arrows from horseback; it’s not that hard to do well. After packing up my substantial leftovers, I draw my phone to use my $ 5 for $ 10 Unilocal Deal. The server that’s even more mild-mannered than Prince after a deep-tissue massage, a cup of chamomile tea, and a xanax let out a loud gasp. I watched him scurry around the restaurant asking everyone deal? or no deal?. After he called the owner I was told, no deal! Apparently in the time that I purchased my gift certificate and redeemed it, DMR had changed hands. There are ten Korean restaurants in Broward, the majority are peppered around the area where Lauderhill, Plantation and Sunrise meet. It’s closest we’ll ever get to NY or SF’s Korea-town but DMR is perfectly acceptable if you’re getting anything that walks. I’d steer clear of anything that swims. Rony Mō and the gabby gamblers can agree on that and they didn’t even risk a meal there. Your best bet is to hit-up Minji’s in the NE corner of the same plaza.
