Love their broasted chicken. We’ve been here at least a dozen times but today our server, who’s name I’ll share when I get it, is rude, short and refused to give us their customary rolls and crackers as we wait for our 2 broasted chicken dinners. She ignored us so long the bartender finally came over and even washed off our table. As grumpy saw the bartender about to take our orders, grumpy jumps in. Debbie was the grouch. Another couple walked over to us to ask what we thought her emotional problem was. I love the place but man, if you’re serving people, leave the the attitude at the door!

I work basically within walking distance of this great little hidden gem. My colleagues and I eat here often and bring our German colleagues for lunch when they come in during the summer. In fact we stopped going in the winter and cooler months for the most part since the best place to have lunch is the outdoor bar. In an unknown little place like Ivanhoe/Mundelien or Fundelien as I like to call it, you would never expect the vacation like seating. Shaded, outdoor bar, pool and sand volleyball. Makes you feel like you are far far away. the service is sometimes a little slow but the food is good. Not mindblowing but good and satisfying. Good wraps, nice salads, soups. Recently they had a cuban on the menu… now THAT was mindblowing… slap yo mama(as my friens says) delicious! I would love to see that on the regular lunch menu! Overall, plenty of parking, variety of choices that can go the healthy route, nice staff – little slow, and good food. Best part is the get-away like seating outside on a nice day. Will continue to entertain the Germans in this all American place.

Delicious place to enjoy breakfast on Sunday morning. Pleasantly surprised because I never thought of Crossroads as a go to spot for breakfast. It’s consistently yummy.

We had breakfast here and had an amazing time. We had a spinach and feta cheese omelette that was great. They definitely didn’t skimp on the feta cheese. One of the best in the area. The owner Jack came over and spent some time talking to us which you don’t see very much anymore. Great job Crossroads!

Typical older bar food sort of place. Service was very good in dining area. Food is served in baskets that might save the place washing dishes but makes it impossible to cut your food. Not very appetizing to cut through the single paper layer and watch your food blending with a basket weave that has been used many times. The menus themselves were worn and dirty. Bet they are never wiped down. Finally on ordering another Blue Moon that is served with an orange… They just refilled the glass without replacing the orange so the glass I received had the old piece of orange floating lifelessly at the top. I judge places by the small things… This place fails.

If you feel like hanging out in a place that is like the beginning of a Bar Rescue episode then this is your kind of bar. Nothing but drunk, rude regulars(men and women). And it’s not even like it’s only weekends when people like to go out and get crazy. I stopped in on my way home from work one afternoon to grab a burger to-go and even at 2:00p.m. on a Tuesday some regular(who had obviously had too many) felt free to speak inappropriately to me like it was nothing. It’s unfortunately nothing new when going there. They did a decent job with the outdoor addition but what about a little attention to the bathrooms? When you walk into the bar it smells like a toilet. Literally. It’s disgusting. The food is nothing to rave about. Mediocre at best.

All I’ve got is wow. This place is beyond a disaster. We were served incredibly strong drinks and the wrong kind of rum in my own drink. When a complaint was made, instead of making new drinks, the bartender said«most people like their drinks that way» and«Welcome to Crossroads». The bartenders turned and laughed with each other. Most of the patrons were clearly over served. I felt I had gone straight back to college and basement frat parties. We actually saw a group of guys pre-gaming in the parking lot. We watched one guy run into the door way and another lady bite shit in the parking lot. We ended up leaving for home to make our own drinks. Drinks were left on the table half consumed. #DUIcentral #towniebar #fratparty #imgood

The crowd here sucks and the food sucks. Unless you wanna hang out with the professional losers of Mundelein. Only people with an IQ of 9 go here otherwise this place would go out of business.

Crossroads is okay,(not bad, not great) with reasonable prices and tasty food, but I have to agree with some other reviewers… The staff are not the most personable people in the world. Would it kill you to crack a smile? The chili cheese omelette is a lot better than it sounds. Try it,.

Outside for some live music. Band was OK, didn’t have to worry about spending too much money or ordering anything to eat, or drinking too much because if you weren’t a regular and knew the bartender, YOUCOULDN’T GETSERVICE. Nice place, at least I think so, even after 15 minutes to get her attention, it took another 10 minutes for a beer while she worked all the regulars and let the 3 of us just sit there! WORSTSERVICEEVER!!!

Quick service, good food, attentive and friendly staff… you get the types of food you would expect from a local bar/restaurant. Best local place for weekend breakfast!

Now this review goes for sitting in the bar/patio not the restaurant portion of the place. It’s kind of a towny bar but not quite. The food was good and the price is very reasonable. Enjoyed the tacos, chicken were better then the beef. The mozzarella sticks are def worth a try. Service was good, the place was pretty crowded, typically a good sign. In the summer they have volleyball courts and a nice outdoor beer garden.

Stopped in for a drink on a whim(they offer Stiegl on tap) while driving around the burbs. On the surface, I can see what others reviewers commented about favoring the regulars. Happily that was not the case with us. Our bartender was cheerful and welcoming. When we asked to see a menu, she thoroughly described their best offerings so we tried the chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks. The food was very good– tasting fresh and homemade, the qualities great bar foods are made of. The chicken was moist and not salty. Their honey mustard sauce was the perfect blend of tangy and sweet. The fries were hot and unsalted leaving us to season to out liking. The mozzarella sticks are wrapped in a wonton wrapper which makes them a little chewer than my liking but still very good. The customers raved about the food. We saw the flatbread which looked great. We plan to return for the broasted chicken and cheeseburger, we will keep you posted. But, I’d give it a whirl!

Walked in and saw no one seating anyone, bartender was oblivious so I got my own table around 4:30 on a Friday. Tables filled up quick with local groups drinking and carrying on. I was awaiting for my sister to join me, but no one came to ask me if I wanted a drink or if I wanted a menu. My sister turned up 10 minutes later and told her not to get comfortable because if no one showed up to greet us in five minutes, we were leaving. She headed to the bathroom. Came for the fish fry, but didn’t smell any food smells, so I thought maybe we were sitting in the wrong place — but there was ketchup on the table, so food apparently existed here. When sis came back, the friendly Hispanic bus boy gave us a menu. After flailing them around for several minutes a waitress came to see if someone had gotten us drinks, «NO» we said in unison, so she went and got another girl. I ordered a Coke and a shot of Jack, which came in a tiny cup that you would get your meds in at the hospital — $ 5. We both ordered the AYCE fried cod dinner, complete with a BOWL of NE Clam Chowder, fish, fries, and coleslaw. Chowder had nice chunks of clams, potatoes, pimentos, but was a little under seasoned. Slaw was also under seasoned. The French fries were pale, but done and not greasy. The fish was great — not dense, but flakey, nice color without being over-cooked and not greasy. Came with a big wedge of lemon and«tartar sauce» that was mostly mayo and again, no seasoning. Overall, it’s still better and a better value than Mickey Finn’s. As others said, it looks like a family place from the outside, but it’s locals waiting on regulars. The place was loud and boisterous for not even being happy hour. The Hispanic bus boy was more attentive than any waitress in the place, and certainly more friendly. Will probably be back for apps and some beers once it warms up.

My first time visiting is during the winter, I know they have an outdoor patio, pool and volleyball courts, so I can not wait to come back during the summer. We were in the sunny front of the restaurant, which was nice, but if you get hot easily I would not sit there. I had the steamed garlic mussels, that were just delivered fresh that day and they were excellent. Loved their Garlic broth and fresh buttered bread roll. My husband loves his chicken quesadilla and we both ordered a burger. They were big and juicy a very good burger. I have read this place is great for lunch and I would agree.

Truly one of my favorite places on the planet. My all time favorite food here is the mozzarella sticks(egg rolls). The atmosphere is great with the outside bar area. There is a pool, bags, volleyball, and much more. It is very rare for this place to not be crowded during the summer because it is just awesome!

I used to go to this restaurant regularly with my parents and cousins but haven’t been in years. I was excited to see they put in an outdoor bar and volleyball court so a few girl friends and I went it check it out. The bar was nice and service was fine, but we decided to just do one drink and head out. On our way out, a drunk guy started verbally harassing my friends as they waited at the exit as I closed out my tab. They were obviously annoyed but Crossroads wasn’t to blame for this guys behavior, he wasn’t even in the bar. When we finally made our way out into the parking lot this guy continued to harass all three of us. He was disgusting. But what made me write this review and guarantee I will not go back is the fact that we saw our previous bartender out there on break chatting with this drunk guy. They looked like buddies. I was amazed that the bartender was not only not kicking the guy off the property, but just ideally watching as he yelled things at my friends and I crossed the parking lot. I won’t support a place that condones that guys behavior. Ugh.

I rate the Crossroads of Ivanhoe in the middle. But, to be more specific… For Lunch — They would get 4 stars For Dinner — They would get 2 stars For Drinking — They would get 5 stars This place is really geared towards drinking and have good food which usually comes with bar type establishments. The bar area is extensive. There is the indoor bar, then they have an outdoor area which is very inviting and a great place to chat with friends. There is even a pool there to use! I personally would not come back here again during dinner. I would come here for lunch & I would certainly come here with some friends for a few drinks.
