Ok sushi but awful service. We came in exactly 5 minutes after the lunch special was over and we were basically yelled at for asking for it. The waitress continued to be rude and even laughed at us! Needless to say, we couldn’t get the lunch special and will never go back.

A friend and I decided to have dinner here. It wasn’t busy at the time; only two other tables were being waited on. We were seated upon arrival by a not so friendly waitress. We ordered two iced teas, which were good, and waited for 15 mins for a waitress to come and take our order. Our original waitress never name and the new one was even less amicable than the first. After waiting for 15 mins we decided to just pay for the teas and have dinner elsewhere. We told the new waitress and she never returned to our table with a check. We had to go to the counter and ask to pay. Upon paying they asked us over and over why we were leaving. Not wanting to be rude or get anyone in trouble, we just said something came up. The restaurant itself is clean and well decorated. Just wish the service was better.

This restaurant will be placed on the«never again» list. I went with my family since I heard a couple of people speaking good about it, but under my own experience it was to die for the exit door. First of all we walk in and it felt like we were not welcome. Two of the cooks and 2 of the waitresses were siting at one of the tables and all stared at us as if we didn’t belong in. The waitress that served us did the minimal of effort… She would smile with the staff, but we had to actually call her over since she basically left us on our own… The kick was that when we called her her demeanor would change dramatically. I decide to use the washroom and one of the cooks was in there… He did not wash his hands on his way out and walked right back in the kitchen!!! At the end of our meal I had to call the second waitress for the check since the waitress that was serving us disappeared. I was successful in calling her once I interrupted her video streaming. Very rude and pricy for the taste! Needless to say… I love Asian food, but I’ll enjoy it somewhere else.

We have stopped here for takeout twice on the way home from the shore. California rolls and shrimp tempura get high marks. 5⁄5 would come back again.

I went here with two business associates for dinner. Two of us were very disappointed. The other regretted recommending the restaurant. The Shumai seafood dumpling appetizer had a strange, almost off taste. The sauce it was served with simply had no flavor other than salt. My dish, the Bangkok Spicy Shrimp, was not nearly spicy enough though I asked for it as spicy as they could make it. The waitress smirked. It was spicy but did not live up to the three chilli claim of the menu, much less my request that they make it very spicy. It was flavorful and served in a crispy noodle basket. Despite the lack of heat it was the high mark of the meal. I ordered the green tea mochi ice cream for dessert. It was simply horrible. Mochi is my go to dessert at Sushi and Japanese restaurants and I love it. We also often have it in our freezer at home for a little guilty pleasure. My point is I know what it SHOULD be like. This mochi seemed freezer burned. it was mealy and nearly tasteless. What flavor it did have was very unpleasant. It left a terrible aftertaste after only one piece. I did not eat the rest of the serving. One of my dinner companions ordered the vanilla mochi and also had only one piece and simply said he did not care for it. The service was ok but the waitress did not know the menu and was given to making odd faces at us when we asked questions to which she did not know the answer. I come to this area on business two to three times per year. I won’t be coming back here. Perhaps the sushi is better than the cooked dishes. I won’t be back to find out.

Ate lunch at Kawa after reading Unilocal reviews. The sushi was very good and came with a salad and soup. The price was very reasonable, the restaurant was clean and service was very fast and friendly. The Japanese rock music playing was interesting and different but I liked it. I will return.

This place is great. Even though they do not have hibachi I still live it. It is right up there with Sakura. The ingredients are really fresh which results in better tasting sushi. The restaurant is designed very nice in the a Japanese theme with seating of different kinds. Very clean and professional establishment.

The food was very very good. The edamame was the best I have ever had. The sushi rolls were very good and my friend got chicken teriyaki which he said was excellent. I think what shocked me was the price. Our bill was like $ 32 for dinner? You can’t eat at crapplebees for that price and this was good quality food. No question when I am back in the area to visit I would eat there again.

They should take the Thai off the menu. This is not Thai food. It is drippy American style Thai. None if the complex flavors that make Thai food delicious. Just sweet and sour.

This is a great sushi place with very quick service, especially on takeout. The sushi is flavorful and delicious. Their lunch specials are a great value for sushi($ 10.50 for 3 rolls, soup, and salad). Also, my boyfriend always gets the Pad See Yu and it is quite tasty, as well. Definitely my go to place for sushi around the area, but there’s not too many others to compare to, so I’m sure there is better out there.

It was ok. The most memorable part of the experience was that our server was not friendly. She was very short with us, did not answer questions and did not like out humor. My party of four are natives of this area, however we’re all NYC transplants. The food is poorer quality then the cheapest Thai delivery place anywhere north of Trenton! We ordered three lunch specials, the pricing was adequate, the food was bland. The sushi small, the Pad See Eww was eww, Garlic Shrimp was mostly filler veggies, Pineapple rice was ok… Don’t ask for curry chicken with it… The server will get pissed! Oh, but the Tempura was decent… Nice and crunchy! :-) If you come here again, get the tempura.

Typically when I am in this area I get Jamaican food. I wanted something different and someone recommended Kawa. I got the Pad Thai Lunch special and for a $ 1.00 more I got the Tom Yum Gai soup Tom Yum Gai– nice flavor if you like a little kick to your soup. Very good. Pad Thai– this was terrible I would NEVERCOMEBACK they are ridiculous. The pad thai was sticky and cold. I told them I didn’t want this that I am sorry but I didn’t like the flavor it is not like Pad Thai i have had in the past and they said that’s your problem. If your not our culture you should ask because you don’t know anything. Reallly? Lol i will never spend a dime here again

This place is as three stars suggests: ok. It’s clean, the interior is decent, and the food tastes ok. There is better sushi out there, but it’s not near Millville. I’m a creature of habit when it comes to sushi and not too adventurous. Usually I get the cucumber roll and the salmon & avocado roll. Pretty cheap prices, but not the prettiest or best sushi. Beats no sushi though.

Kawa is a conundrum. The sushi is some of the best in the area, the lunch specials are an excellent value, the area is clean and has a great ambiance, the menu is diverse, and the staff is very friendly. The atmosphere is perfect, and not what you would expect from a restaurant in Cumberland County, or from looking at it from the outside as it is housed within a strip mall. The space is immaculate and kept in pristine condition. I have sampled almost their entire sushi menu, including delicious specialty rolls that they rotate in and out of the menu, and a lot of the other asian inspired dishes as well. The only thing that makes me hesitate in giving this a perfect score, is that the Thai, in my experience, is terrible. I have not ordered the Thai food here in over two years, so maybe that has changed, but it was not acceptable to my palette the last three times I ordered it. There are not a lot of Thai Restaurants in the area, but that is no excuse. If I had ordered the Thai the first time I went to Kawa, I would have never returned. That said, if you stick to the rolls and other half of the asian menu, you will be pleasantly surprised.

I have eaten here twice now. First I ordered take out with six coworkers. I was surprised to see they prepared our order exactly as we requested(and we are quite the picky bunch). Their sushi was great and the thai food was also pretty good. I had the pineapple rice and it was to die for. Then I went there for lunch with a different coworker today. They have a 3 sushi rolls for $ 10.50 special that includes salad and soup. It was really good. It was pretty empty for lunch so service was fairly quick, we were in and out in less than an 45 minutes. I am definitely a fan!

This is definitely the best thai and sushi that Cum Co has to offer. I know that doesn’t make it sound like much but trust me you will leave with a happy full belly! 1) Great curries that are spicy without overwhelming curry flavor 2) Cool booths that you sit down into. Hard to explain just check it out 3) Good for take out and to sit down and eat. 4) Bangkok pork is AMAAZ!!!

Kawa just opened this week. The restaurant is lovely inside. They have regular table seating, seating at the sushi bar, and then traditional floor and pit seating where you remove your shoes and sit on cushions. The servers are very attentive but aloof. The setting is asian/urban chic and very pleasant. I’m not a big fan of sushi and went to Kawa for Thai food, but I really enjoyed the sushi I had. As a matter of fact, I’d be more inclined to return for the sushi rather than the Thai. The Thai portions were small for the price and the food was only mediocre. Any of the hot foods that came from the kitchen were not really that great. All the meats I ordered were overcooked and tough. The flavors were good but not great. I have to disagree with Jeffrey’s assertion that the Thai is authentic. It’s not. It’s a Japanese interpretation of Thai, and it’s very lackluster. Despite the great ambiance, I won’t go back. The Thai food was just not good enough. With a great Vietnamese place right next door, I don’t know why I’d bother… it wasn’t awful, but it just wasn’t that good. Two and a half stars.
