I’ve had sushi at Dakota several times and the food has always been good. This past weekend I returned again and was horrified at the service I received. The place wasn’t busy at all, yet our server seemed to disappear often and forget about us. At one point I noticed him sitting with the hostesses and chatting while we were waiting for our food an extremely long time. By the time we finally finished our meal we were the only ones left in the restaurant. It took an additional 15 minutes after he removed our plates before he returned with the check. Food would be 3 – 4 stars but the service brought the experience down to 2.

Arrived at 550 pm. Waitress wouldn’t less us get happy hour apps. French onion soup had no real onions and broth was gravy. Quesidilla tasted fried and nor many shrimp. Sushi was great.

Came with my 12-year-old picky eater son, who amazingly likes sushi. It was quiet and comfortable. Our server, Alex, was courteous, attentive and friendly, as was the man who filled our waters and brought bread. My vegetable sushi was fresh and delicious. I’m used to greasy bar food when we stay out of town for soccer tournaments, so this was a nice treat.

We have dined here frequently in the past but this visit was in June. I am not sure if their new chef is still with them but we did notice a positive difference in the menu and food. Service has always been great here for us and it was that evening as well. Food was spot on and delicious. Steak was cooked perfectly per requested.

Terrible experience. Had a business dinner with 13 people. Our company frequents this restaurant a lot. Restaurant was empty but the service was unbelievably slow, waited 20 minutes at times for drinks, had to get up and look for servers, placed food order and several times were told AFTER we ordered that they ran out of certain goods, steaks orders(medium raw, well done, etc.) were not correct. One steak was supposed to be medium and it came back bleeding. 4 and a half hours and a $ 900 bill later — will definitely not be going back there ever again.

Steak was overdone despite ordering it medium. The service was slow and unresponsive. The Cabernet(house) was not fit for consumption. Did not try the sushi

By far the best sushi in Vineland but no ones knows about it. Try the crispy shrimp and Kani or the dragon ball appetizer. My favorite place to go when I visit my family in Vineland

My husband chose Dakota Prime to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The ambiance couldn’t have been better for this evening. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more attentive. I ordered the Porter house steak, medium, my husband the scallops with mashed potatoes. We both had the vegetable of the evening, a mix of zucchini, squash and carrot strips sauteed in light oil and seasoned perfectly. The steak was cooked to perfection, a little too much peppercorn pepper for my liking, but over all fantastic. The scallops were seared to a golden brown and just slightly seasoned allowing the full flavor of the scallops to come through, yes we shared, so I know. I ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio and the wine waiter was there to refill before my glass was emptied. My husband, who does not drink soda, or alcoholic drinks, ordered apple juice. Our Waitress, Mary, went out of her way to find some for him, after being told they were out. She seemed more delighted to find it for us than we were. The overall atmosphere was fun and romantic for us. We rarely choose the higher end places and have high expectations on those rare occasions we do, if we’re spending a little extra we expect a lot, we got it. The staff was very aware of our needs at all times with everyone checking our table as they passed by. We met the owners on our way out and they couldn’t be more pleasant. We wish them great success in their future with Dakota and we recommend everyone to check it out. We WILL be back. Thanks Dakota for making our 25th a great evening.

Group of 7 of us. 500 bucks spent and the food was garbage. I will never return. Lobster tails were the size of my finger. Veggies were loaded with butter. Prices were way too hefty for that garbage. Absolute ripoff.

The longest wait for food I’ve ever jad in my life. 3 of us ordered steak, my 4th friend got sushi. His sushi came and went before we even got our meals, well over an hour wait. Then the steaks weren’t anything to rave about. I gave them 2 stars because they at leasr hooked us up with desert.

Amazing great sushi. Don’t let the exterior fool you since it’s attached to a ramada. Sushi chef is really good and sushi was fresh. Didn’t eat anything except sushi so can’t comment on anything else.

Dakota Prime is pricey for the area but the ambiance, service and food were lovely. Extensive menu; lots of variety. We shared a tasty clams/oyster app and red snapper sashimi, followed by an excellent, fresh and spicy volcano roll(Sushi chef right there preparing selections.) Hubby had pork chops, which came with potato/veg sides. The chops were tender, charry, delicious. Hearty portions too. He had two Blue Moon beers; I had glass of wine. Our bill came to $ 85(including our 18% tip). Service was a smidgen slow but attentive, friendly and efficient. We visited in December 2012 and stayed at hotel. This restaurant is a nice setting for a romantic meal or business dinner.

Good sushi. Service was slow for this party of 14, but it was a holiday lunch, so it was okay! The restaurant was enjoyed by all. We had a variety of dishes from the lunch menu and everyone loved their food. I will definitely go back.

Why did I come from Egg Harbor City to Vineland for sushi? Especially when I’m 10 minutes away from the zillion sushi/seafood/steakhouse options in AC? Because Dakota Prime is THAT good. Last night was my second time dining here, and it was just as spectacular as the first. It was boyfriend’s birthday and I wanted to take him somewhere for a really delicious, romantic, and relaxing meal. Dakota was the first place that came to mind. We were seated by the lovely hostess in a huge half-moon booth, which was perfect because boyfriend and I were able to sit right next to each other and PDA all night. Romantic, check. Also, it was a helpful seating arrangement when I wanted to eat his food. Our server, Sarah, was absolutely delightful. She was pleasant, knowledgeable, and funny to boot. I told her we’d prefer to wind down with a drink first before placing our orders, since I can’t drink with meals. She was completely cool with that and brought out our drinks: pomegranate martini for me, Bud Light for boyfriend. An entire warm/cold sake list, a martini menu, and a wine list, and he gets a Bud Light. I digress. My pomegranate martini was superb: it comes with a sidecar so you’ve basically got a refill for the price of one drink. Sarah remained attentive but not pushy, and she was around to take our dinner orders once we finished our drinks. As a note, the first time I came here was in September, and Jenn was our server then. She was equally skilled and sweet. What does it say about this place and the service that I remember somebody I interacted with for a meal 6 months ago? Relaxing, check check. Boyfriend ordered off of the steakhouse menu: tomato and mozzarella salad, the 16oz prime NY strip, and a side of creamed spinach. I chose from the sushi menu: the dragon ball appetizer, yellowtail sashimi, and a Japanese hoagie. The dragon ball appetizer was better than I anticipated. Two large-meatball-sized balls of spicy tuna mixed with tempura flakes, enveloped by luscious fresh avocado. Yea, it was that good. The texture was divine and the tuna was fresh as could be. It was so good, boyfriend, who hates avocado, was digging in! His tomato and mozzarella salad was outstanding; absolutely exactly the way it’s supposed to be done. We call this«caprese» in my house, and we eat it frequently with dinner. The whole point of caprese is to showcase the sweetness of the tomato and the fresh-and-creaminess of the mozzarella, and that’s precisely what the chef at Dakota does. Simply but perfectly seasoned with salt, pepper, basil, and olive oil. After cleaning our plates, it was about a 10 minute wait for dinner, which I appreciated. I wouldn’t have minded waiting longer either, the food was that good and we were having that much fun. Boyfriend’s strip was done to a perfectly juicy rare, and topped with oreganata crumbs and provolone cheese, over a Guinness stout sauce. I would never ever think to pair those three ingredients on a steak, but dear sweet baby Jesus this was delicious. The steak literally melted in my mouth, the oreganata and provolone gave it a flavorful texture, and the Guinness stout sauce was the extra point. It was served with Red Bliss mashed potatoes(skins still on!) and a vegetable medley of tomato, onion, and squash. Again, I’ve eaten this in my own kitchen many times, and it was spot-on. I didn’t try his creamed spinach, but it looked delectable, and boyfriend would have said so had he stopped to take a breath during this meal. My yellowtail sashimi was plump, juicy, and buttery. Three pieces of thick yellowtail sashimi, and I read on the menu that an order is 2 pieces, so thanks for the hookup Sushi Mike! The Japanese hoagie, now, that was a work of art. Get ready for this: tempura shrimp, tuna, blue crab, scallion, cucumber, and avocado inside. Spicy mayo and eel sauce on top. I transcended reality eating this. I actually unlocked another dimension. And parts of it actually tasted like a hoagie, which was really neat! Delicious, check check and check! Sarah was attentive and efficient the entire time. We really wanted to try the desserts, which looked OMG good, but there was absolutely no room left at the inn. Boyfriend is allergic to chocolate, and they had plenty of options for him to choose from, even though he was stuffed. Drinks, appetizers, entrees, and sides all together came to $ 100 before tip. I cannot for the life of me imagine how another reviewer could make a comment like«when they charge the prices they do in Vineland…» What?! This place is a beacon of light in Vineland. Maybe I’m just used to eating in AC and being upcharged for every blessed thing, and always leaving feeling like I was robbed. I will gladly take the drive to Vineland for a meal this fantastic any day of the week.

Have eaten here several times and am always satisfied. Sushi is excellent. Really, really excellent. The thing that stops me from giving five stars is the fact that they grill their steaks instead of chargrilling them. This is a personal preference, however. But I did miss the grill marks on my ribeye.

We were heading out with friends of ours for the evening. We couldn’t decide where to go and somehow stumbled over here. We had all heard good things about it and decided to give it a try. While I did not rate this very high, it was okay. It’s just that in Vineland, when one charges the prices they do, if they want us to return, they’re going to need to do more. I had the ribeye. It was pushing $ 30. It was cooked fine. I can cook a better ribeye at home for a third of the price. My buddy’s porterhouse sounded great, but left me wanting. I am happy I didn’t shell out the $ 36 for it. Well, actually I did. We skipped the sushi just because it so didn’t seem to fit in with steaks. The two foods(steaks and sushi) seem like totally different experiences to us. Nothing impressed us here. Nothing was bad, but nothing said, «Oh, you have to dine here.» It was a pricey meal for average food.

Really glad we stopped there… We had a phenomenal meal here. The sushi was great. I got the«hoagie» and it was delicious. Everything was phenomenal including the service. I was really glad that we stopped by for dinner after reading the other Unilocalers

My husband and I moved from San Francisco where we had a sushi restaurant down the street that we loved and went to all the time. It was sad that we didn’t have a good place in Vineland to get sushi so when Dakota Prime opened we were hopeful but not confident that it would be good. Thankfully we were pleasantly surprised, the sushi is very good. Really everything we have ordered has been good but my new favorite is the Sweet Potato Roll, don’t let it fool you, it does’t sound like much but the crunchy sweetness wrapped in rice and nori, oh my I want one right now! Give it a try, it is a place that we order out or sit in often. The Steak part of Dakota Prime we haven’t tried yet but have heard good things.

Excellence in Vineland! This place really took me by surprise. Best of Both worlds, a Steak house and Sushi Bar! Atmosphere is Romantic and Cozy. I decided to do the Sushi Aspect this time due to the fact my Son was in an Asian Mood. Impeccable Service, 5 Stars. The Knowledgeable Server was Prompt, Helpful, and Courteous! I started off with the Norwegian Salad. A combination of Smoked Salmon and Fresh Avocado in a Tasty Sauce. My Son had Vegetable Sushi Fresh and Tasty. The Rolls were warm and FRESH! Our Glasses were NEVER empty! I then had the Shrimp Tempura Roll which had an Asian Mayo and the Roll was Very Good! The Owner came to all the tables insuring everyone was satisfied! I had been to this place years ago. Since then It did a 360 degree change. This place is WORTH the TRIP! I’m anxious to stay at the hotel. Dakota Prime is located within the TOTALLYREMODELEDRAMADAHOTEL! When Celebrities Play the Theater in Vineland, They Frequently Stay here. At the Time of this Review, B.J. Thomas was a Guest at the Hotel. There are two other restaurants located within this hotel. Speedway Café and Harry’s Pub. The Pub had Live Music and a Vibrant Bar Scene. Dakota Primes prices were LOW! There are Several Popular Chain Restaurants within the area! You’d be a FOOL spend more money for a Chain Restaurant when you can Have a Fine Dining Experience Cheaper! Can’t wait to go back!

I travel a lot to Vineland. I stayed at a hotel steps away from this restaurant yet I avoided this place for a couple months just because the restaurant is located inside a Ramada Inn. Big mistake. Don’t avoid this place. The steaks and sushi are both really good here. Sushi rolls run from $ 5-$ 13 and steaks run between $ 20-$ 30. If you are looking for a decent place in Vineand to eat sushi or have a steak, this is the place.
