Was waiting to place a to go order today was never acknowledge. There was a server that was helping a couple in front of me but after helping them he turned around a never told me he would be right with me. I asked a lady working behind the counter if l could get some service she tapped the male server on the shoulder and motioned toward me, but then he just turned to a couple seated at the counter and took there order. The worst. I will never come back to this waffle house again at Oates and 635 in Mesquite, TX

This Waffle House has the best servers because they are so nice. It is a bit messy but it is a diner so don’t expect it to be super clean or super messy. I have been going here for a while and I love it. I’m never disappointed and greeted with nice smiles every time.

Before I begin my review, I’d like to state that I wish I could give half stars and give this place a solid 4.5! First off, LOCATION. This particular location is about a block from HWY635 on the Oates exit in Mesquite and is conveniently located facing Oates in a shopping center with generous parking space. It’s also in a very commercial area so it’s not so difficult to miss. My only concern is the size of the actual restaurant, which is really a cozy, lively diner with an exposed kitchen places right in the middle surrounded by booths and a sit up bar style area. Pretty cool. Unfortunately this is where it lacks the extra half star because this setup/layout makes it rather crammed and it can get very busy and occupied rather quick. Especially for breakfast! SERVICE: As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a host/busser who was very polite and he asked us what our seating preference was and informed us of a seating wait time. No problem. The wait was about 15 minutes, but sure enough we were seated in a booth right in front of kitchen. Nice. My son really enjoyed that since he could the cooks in action interacting and cooking. One of the cooks actually took our entire order, and very well done too! The food alone was brought out quicker than expected and nice and warm, considering the very lively environment and busy kitchen. FOOD: We all ordered the All-Star meal and it was a ridiculous amount of food! A waffle, choice of meat(ham, bacon, sausage), hashbrowns, and a biscuit for under $ 7 a pop! It was delicious, warm, and VERY filling! Try topping off your hashbrowns with the variety of add-ons they offer for 45 cents extra, which is reasonable. I had them smothered, covered, and peppered, which was literally smothered in grilled onions, cheese, and grilled jalapeño peppers. Whoa! Needless to say, we all took half our meals in to-go boxes, hehe. VALUE/PRICING: Tab was $ 34 including the drinks and $ 5-and-change tip I left. Not bad at all! I’ve spent that and more on a meal for two at other places for less food. Good deal, folks. Everything else on the menu is fairly priced for the serving size and pretty standard diner prices. Overall this was great experience and I will definitely be visiting this establishment often. Great value, even better food. I’d this place was any bigger it would be the icing on the cake. Two thumbs up, Waffle House!
