Fun place to eat out in Mammoth, also since it is a brewery they have a lot of different good tasting beers, however, they were out of 2 of their house beers. I left full and satisfied.

WHISKEYCREEK, asdhfiaefajdkl;jfsd. Drinks are a BITCH to get before midnight. Line is like 5 people deep and the bartenders will do everything they can to avoid eye contact. There are also certain pockets of the bar that are not tended to at all, so if you’re standing in one of those, good luck because you’ll be standing for a while. Music was fortunately good, so that helped a bit. Let’s be honest, though, there’s not a lot of options for a night out in Mammoth. Overall, this place was A-OK, as the 3 star rating suggests; it just wasn’t great.

Alysha A was our server. Happy Hour. Pitcher of the seasonal amber 1953. Fresh Grilled Teriyaki Salmon with Mashed Potatoes, Baby Green Beans, and drizzled with Teriyaki Wasabi Glaze. Caesar Salad. Food was delicious. Service was wonderful. Food runners were quick, attentive, and on top of everything. Whiskey Creek is a perenial Happy Hour favorite.

Decent food, considering all other selections in Mammoth. Happy hour is most definitely where it’s at. I wouldn’t come otherwise. They open at 4pm, and happy hour is from 4 – 5:30. The line starts forming about 15 – 10 minutes before they open, and the amount of people lined up at the door when they let us in fills up most of the tables in the upstairs area where the bar is. Thus, if you’re looking to score a table, come early. Bar seats themselves didn’t fill up until probably around 5 or so. Service was great, prompt, and friendly. Everything that’s underlined in the menu is ½ price during happy hour, drafts are $ 1 off, and pitchers are $ 4 off. Angus steak sliders — They were okay. Meat was definitely tough. Cheese was aplenty, onions were abundant. The flavor was somewhat mushed together though. Flat iron 7oz — Good for $ 10! Cooked perfectly to medium rare as asked, and the mashed potatoes that it comes with was also good. Accompanying sauce was tasty, but the boyfriend didn’t like it too much. Tasted kind of like a sweet gravy to me. Spicy sizzling artichoke dip — Filled with cheese, comes with tortilla chips and focaccia bread. The bread is an interesting choice since it makes for a mushy mouthful, but still tasty. Spicy? Not at all. Sizzling? Hardly. It came out in a ceramic dish, partially cooled so that the edges were already solid. Overall, a decent and popular choice to fill up on grub and beer after a day on the slopes. Nothing to really write home about though.

It’s kinda hard to miss this little landmark right at the corner of the Village in mammoth Lakes, but it took me a while to stop in. While I’d love to love this place(I know a couple people who work here), my experience was a little less than stellar. Being the crux of any dining experience, the food I had here was average. The spinach artichoke dip was GREAT, but the bread served with is was mediocre. They claim it was focaccia, but it seemed like regular grilled bread strips. The crispy chicken club sandwich was very dry, and lacking in the fresh, exciting flavors that should make it appetizing. The beer battered fries are good, but the sweet potato fries were just OK. On another visit, the Sweet Po fries were much better(crispy), and I picked up the pulled pork sliders, which were VERY good. The service was relatively standard, but the waiter was very quiet and the hostess was new, so she had no recommendations. When I stopped by another time and ate at the bar upstairs, I sat at the bar(with no bartender) for quite a while until someone greeted me. As much as I hate to agree with some of the ‘décor’ critics(normally I really don’t care), I wasn’t super excited to be eating at a table that felt like my old family dining table from the early 90’s. That thing has been retired for some time. It also felt a little like a Denny’s. The upstairs bar was better. All in all, nothing special. I heard their steaks are amazing, so I’ll probably head back some time to try it out, but I haven’t been wowed so far… I’ve heard great things about the HH, but it ends so early!(5:30pm)

We always have a gay old time at the Whisky. I have heard the locals tell the tales of rough nights and bar fights at Whisky Creek but if you get there before the freaks come out you will be golden. And treated to a wonderful steak meal! They have the best appetizers in town! Start with the calamari. Not your average rings but nice little fillet pieces with great dipping sauces. Try it, I swear it doesn’t disappoint! And while you are enjoying that, get yourself a pint of the local Mammoth Brewery beer(or a tasting sampler which is a good alternative!). Hubby and I shared the wedge, it’s definitely big enough to share as a starter. then we split the 14oz flat iron. Flat iron doesn’t have a lot of fat so there was PLENTY of meat left for both of us. Side of very tasty green beans and mashed potatoes filled out the great meal. The kids split a plate of chicken tenders which were nicely breaded BREAST filets. Yay for real chicken! Then they each had a little dish of ice cream. I have to say that we really enjoy the food and there is always good service. They were so tolerant when I spilled an entire glass of water all over our table. And also the kids are always a mess. So we leave a big tip! :) They earned it.

The food was awesome but very pricey. My wife had tuna which she enjoyed very much. I had bacon wrapped meatloaf with golden mashed potatoes. The atmosphere was clean and cozy. The service was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

I cannot visit Mammoth without hitting up Whiskey Creek for happy hour. In the winter, it is madness and you need to be there at 4PM on the dot to snag a table upstairs in the bar, but in the summer it’s more low key and you can enjoy a more leisurely happy hour from 4 – 6PM. It’s $ 1 off pints of beer, $ 4 off pitchers, and a bunch of items on the menu are half off — not just appetizers but even a flat iron steak! It’s such a great deal, the service is excellent, and the food is tasty as well. I highly recommend Whiskey Creek for happy hour… the view of the mountains is killer too! +1 — Unbeatable happy hour from 4 – 6PM +1 — Artichoke-spinach dip with foccacia bread +1 — Beautiful view of the mountains +1 — Friendly service +1 — Yummy food

I love whiskey creeks happy hour, no mammoth trip is complete without it. Granted it is crowded during winter season but the food never disappoints and our waitress was very friendly! Can’t wait to come again next year! Favorite thing on the happy hour menu: artichoke dip with focaccia.

Went for happy hour and the locally brewed beers. We went upstairs. The place needs some paint, patching and recarpeting. Two of the draught beers were out but I did get a Real McCoy Amber which I enjoyed. We had the appetizers: the calamari, the size of a little finger, was breaded, limp and did not taste like any that I ever had. The sliders were so so. BTW, found a hair in my calamari. Ambiance = 2 Food =2 Service =3.5 it is sad to see this place, slipping away.

The Whiskey a go-go this is not… A Zagat rated 5* joint it isn’t either. A joint with HH in Mammoth, not all that common… It’s just an interesting Mammoth joint… HH is only in the upstairs bar. I haven’t eaten at the posh(for Mammoth) sit down restaurant downstairs in years. However they do serve several steaks and its tasty, but for my money’s worth, I would rather go to the mogul or the restaurant at convict lake. None the less $ 4 off a pitcher or a buck off a pint and some cheaper apps makes for a great post ski meal upstairs in the bar area. The tables and bar are all open seating so if you spot one, I suggest you jump on it… no not literally that is just too wwf-like but yeah you know what I mean… Pro Tip: In the evenings on Fridays or Saturdays they sometimes have free drinks for ladies in the bar… At night at least during the winter they have a DJ spinning with the ability to dance, granted not many are out there dancing and some that are dancing are rather scary looking. It’s almost like watching drunken camels and kangaroos trying to dance. Humps, Bumps, Pouches, Arms and Legs are flailing everywhere with a lil bit of slobber, spit, drinks sloshing around… So if you can make it here for HH and/or some free drinks then it’s definitely well worth it. If not, then its kinda ehhhh… nothing that outstanding or making me want to get out of the cabin specifically for…

If you are one of those people that ride until the last chair, then this is the perfect place to catch happy hour after the mountain closes. Although you may want to leave a bit before Mammoth closes to come grab a table upstairs if you have a big group. Happy Hour Specials: — $ 4 off pitcher or $ 4 beers. I believe Mammoth Brewing Co is brewed here so try the local beer. — Anything on the menu that is underlined, is ½ off! And yes, there are plenty of things underlined. There are multiple TVs broadcasting whatever sporting event is on. Service is super slow and does leave much to be desired but hey, we are all on a mini-vacation at the mountain so we can chill for now. We all have had a crispy chicken club sandwich, well that’s what I ordered. Was it crazy good? No, but did it hit the spot after eating PowerBars and RedBulls all day? YES! And a double YES for the price!

Whiskey Creek has one of the best happy hours! Everything on the menu that is underlined is half off. They offer a vast selection of happy hour food such as appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers, seafood, and etc. Happy hour is offered in the bar, which is located on the second floor. Sometimes finding the best spots in town is by accident. My friends and I parked in Whiskey Creek’s parking lot in order to wait for our caravan to catch up, and ended up talking to some locals, whom recommended Whiskey Creek for happy hour. About a few minutes before the restaurant opened, there was already about 25 people waiting to get in. I guess you know it’s a good spot, if there’s a line prior to opening. Food: I had the Parmesan-Herb Calamari Strips and Grilled Chicken Club Sandwich. The calamari strips came with two sauces: spicy horseradish cocktail sauce and habanero mayonnaise. The sauce and mayonnaise did not have a kick, but did provide some added flavor. The calamari strips looked like fried cheese sticks, but they were delicious. The chicken sandwich was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The homemade bread was fantastic! The sweet potato fries were crispy and salted just right. The food was filling and tasty. This place offers some of the best bar food I’ve had. Side Notes Ambiance: The bar is pretty spacious and offers a large amount of seating. Since it is a bar, expect the noise level to be a bit on the louder side. Service: Our server was actually really good, considering the place was packed and she was helping with a lot of tables. Overall: With a wide selection of food being half off, there’s no reason not to try. This place offers one of the best happy hours!

My boss and fellow coworkers promised me that this place was great eating an so I skipped out on my customary $ 9 chili dog for lunch while boarding and just had two energy bars and an energy shot to get me through the afternoon session. Boy it was worth it! After a whole day of boarding there’s nothing I crave more than some comfort food — enter WC’s Baked Wrapped Meatloaf! This this is SUPERBOMB with mashed potatoes and a corn sauce! I would order it again without any hesitation. Several of my fellow boarders raved about the Pesto Chicken Pasta as well. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to try the drink selection here and will have to come back again for that. One note is that the place was not that busy and we had waiters coming by at least every 10 minutes asking how everything was. It bordered on intrusive but was still nice to see that they’re dedicated — I salute you WC staff! And remember. . YOUWANTBACONWRAPPEDMEATLOAF =)

We’ve always heard good things about this place for the years we’ve been going to Mammoth for snowboarding. Finally went to try it on a Saturday night for dinner. We were seated at the lower level, which I wasn’t too impressed about. It was a little better than a storage basement with tables and chairs(although there were booths). The service was great, and the food was pretty yummy. I had the skirt steak — asked for medium rare, came out rare… Not that I couldn’t eat it, but I still prefer to get what I asked for. Sweet potatoes fries were crispy and seasoned just right. Tacos and pasta were also wonderful accordingly to my friends. It’s a little pricey but not outrageous. Plenty of parking in the private lot.

I think this place is way overrated. I ordered the steak and potato happy hour item some local coworkers raved about and the steak was pretty small and no veggies came with it. Just meat and potato. Needless to say I was disappointed. The reviews I had read got me all pumped and excited about trying this place for the first time. I didn’t come in here on my last work deployment 3 years ago. Had I known, I probably wouldn’t have come in this time. The meat tasted great and came fresh and hot but I think that was the only good thing I could say about it. I could have eaten two and it wasn’t that cheap for what it was. The place was freezing cold like someone forgot to pay the gas bill and I left there wondering what the big deal was about it. Come on really guys? This place wasn’t all that. Yes, they have a ton of beer so if you want decent beer you have lot’s of tap options but you can find really good beer at most places up in Mammoth Lakes. Don’t forget to wear full winter gear to keep yourselves warm inside. It’s too cold to be sitting around drinking cold beverages. I’d say to get a hot drink because you fingers will become icicles if you don’t.

After a week on the trail backpacking, my group was hungry and looking forward to a a good meal in town. The half-price happy hour pricing on some of the the entrees and the sandwiches made coming here even more attractive. The upstairs was packed when we arrived. All the tables were taken, but a string of stools on the skinny bar behind the pool table was open. The server told us it was okay to to get service there, so we did. The salads were included in the happy hour half-off deal. A nice, freshly-tossed green salad is quite appealing after a week of dehydrated foodstuffs. All six of us ordered a salad. Most of us opted for the small(6 oz?) flatiron steak plate with potatoes. [note: the double-sized flatiron isn’t included on the happy hour menu, but you can order TWO of the small steaks and still get the half-off deal. [Kudos to the server who volunteered this information!] Mind you, the small flatiron was ~plenty~ for me. A couple of the guys were big eaters that proceeded to order, then neatly tucked away, a double order of steak. The steak was served in a reasonably short time after the pitchers of Paranoid IPA brew and the(separately ordered) salads. Even though they were busy and bustling with people, the orders were served with good timing and correctly. The IPA was quite good… I liked it even though I am generally not a big fan of the India Pale Ale style. This one was hoppy, but not over-the-top. The salad was well-made and good! The steak was cooked medium-rare as I’d ordered. It was tender and entirely delicious. The mashed potatoes were garlicky and good. I have no complaints. As the place started to thin out a bit, we migrated to a vacated table to finish our drinks and have a bite(or two) of dessert to round off the evening. The atmosphere was busy, yet friendly. Maybe it was because we were pretty outgoing and affable a bunch that was starving for food & drink, but we definitely got good service and did not feel ignored in the least. I give kudos to the server that we had: she was upbeat, cheerful, and as attentive as we required. I’d definitely return to this restaurant the next time I’m in town.

I make a point to go to Whiskey Creek very time we come to Mammoth. The best happy hour for food(and drinks) upstairs. Selected dishes are 50% off. Its short 4 – 5:30 so try to get there early because you won’t be able to find seats later on. Certainly during busy times this place a bit loud… well its a bar after all. Don’t be fooled by the look of the place, you won’t get your regular bar food there instead you will see seared ahi tuna, steak, salmon, ribs or pasta dishes on the menu. Everything tasted even better after a day of snowboarding! This time i decided to try pesto pasta with grilled chicken and pine nuts. The potion was just right, the dish was flavorful not oily. My friends got grilled terriyaki salmon with wasabi mashed potatoes — just a plate presentation was already delicious looking. I had to try a bite, salmon was grilled perfectly, flaky, and still moist. Mashed potatoes. even thou sounded not appetizing to me at first because of wasabi, surprisingly didn’t have any taste of it, just a slight aroma, went perfect with salmon.

We had good times eating here this past weekend. The calamari was awesome, but unfortunately my meal wasn’t that great. Neither so many people, except Filet Mignon, that was awesome, gotta order that next time. It’s one stormy, blizzard night in Mammoth, being inside Whiskey Creek was just great, cause it’s warmer than being outside and there were lots of laugh heard from our table. I ordered: Calamari for appetizer — this was AWESOME, totally different than the other calamari I’ve ever had in my life, the sauce had a kick to it. ½ slab of bbq pork ribs — $ 21.95 I didn’t particularly enjoy my pork ribs that came with cajun corn, and sweet potato fries as the ribs were not easy to cut, the meat was just too hard. I couldn’t rate this place lower than 3 stars, because I’ve only been here once and the service was pretty good. Even tho we had power outage thankfully after the dinner was over, our bill had some issue, because I think they needed electricity to use the calculator. They eliminated taxes on our bill and I believe they forgot to include a couple of beers, but since my friends were drunk, they didn’t even remember anything. All in all, I would still come back next time to try, cause I heard this is the happening place in Mammoth, plus it’s a walking distance away from our cabin when we came. Also, supposedly there’s a fire pit where you could sit and make smores, so after a day on the slope, I think doing that would be great, so next time, I’ll surely update my review. Thank God we didn’t drive our RV here, cause there’s no space for it.
