We were there for lunch on 1÷30÷16. Normally we always lunch at McCoy Station and get a few rounds of Irish Car Bombs. Six of us walk to a makeshift bar to order them but were directed to Grizzly because the makeshift didn’t have Guinness. We ordered six of them from bartender BRIANDEVITO(last name might be misspelled). He said that he doesn’t or can’t make the drinks… telling us to go to the other bar. We told him that the other bar told us to go to you because lack of Guinness. He rolled his eyes and said«I’ll pour them but I don’t want to.» We thought that was odd behavior. He also rolled his eyes and got upset at the girl next to us who paid by having the drink charged to her room. The girl told us she has no idea why BRIAN is acting like that. BRIAN ends up pouring 5 drinks, not 6. We tell him we ordered 6, he grumbles at us then pours the 6th. We pay with 2 credit cards split evenly and BRIAN again scoffs and moans because he has to process an extra credit card. As he hands us the receipt to sign he says«Just so you know, this is the last time I’m f#@king doing this.» Basically what I heard was«Hey don’t leave me any tip.» We leave zero tip, BRIAN sees this and obviously gets annoyed with us. We usually order 3 rounds but that experience ruined our day, we didn’t bother to continue. Ruined our Mammoth weekend. We told this story to our table at lunch and coincidentally a bartender at the next table overheard and said«Yea, Brian is like that sometimes.» Why allow him to service customers when he cusses them out?! I’m not going back to Mammoth again unless something is done about this. Plenty of other(non Mammoth owned resorts)

The bloody mary’s are good here, but service can be a little slow. I guess that’s just how things are out here. Nothing really bad to say about the place, but nothing really good either.

There’s always a slight struggle when it comes to finding a seat. It’s big enough for a good crowd but because so many people are coming in from their run down the slopes, it makes it difficult to find a place to sit inside the bar area. They do not serve good there so you would need to go next door to the cafeteria and purchase your food. They do allow you to eat at the bar area so that’s good. Service can be great or ok. This is the second time I’ve come in a month and the first time we had amazing service. This time it took a little longer to get our drinks and check. But the staff is for the most part friendly. The bar has a pretty good selection of beer on tap which makes us come back to this specific bar. They have a water fountain which is nice and has a good taste.

If you’re at Canyon Lodge @ Mammoth Mountain, this bar is the go-to(and only) bar. Located on the 2nd floor, it’s typically packed and you’ll be lucky to get a seat(I rarely do). There are TVs above the bar and on the other side, you have a good view of the mountain. It’s a nice place to watch the fireworks display at the annual Night of Lights parade. Wish it was a bit bigger(the space is pretty narrow) but it makes for a good meeting place if you’re on that side of the mountain.

there must have been something in the air the night i wandered into the grizzy to find a corner to sit alone. first of all it was the night of lights and i was positioned on the third floor balcony overlooking awesome fireworks and snow pyrotechnics by the professional ski and snowcat teams. definitely the best seats to watch the show. second, to my surprise everyone started to accuse me of being a local and then wanted to buy me drinks. i offered money to the bartenders, but they said no way. wtf? i’m not a drinker, but after three beers and three shots, including some kind of «bomb» contraption, i was three sheets to the wind and telling people«no mas! no mas!». they wanted my phone number, they wanted to ride with me on the mountain… everyone was friendly and giving and telling me how i look like someone they know. it was a blast. i probably could not have ordered a better night out after a day of fresh powder off the 22. and when i woke up the next morning, i understood why they called it the grizzly.
