I’m giving this 3-stars only cause my past experiences at Base Camp have been good. Unfortunately, yesterday was anything but good. I would give it negative stars if I could. Quaint place, not very big at all but always busy. Since it is so small, truth be told, it shouldn’t be that hard for a couple of servers to wait the whole place. It’s not like each person is waiting 10 tables. I was a food server once upon a time. I get it. This time, I ordered a garden scramble. She apologized for the wait. It arrived lukewarm. Some of it was hot but mostly just barely warm. No matter at this point, I’d already waited at least 20 mins for it and needed to it. Not once did she attempt to refill my coffee. The table next to us was getting a refill(different server) and when I asked her for coffee, instead of easily refilling mine, she said she’d let my server know. That never happened. Not once did she come check on us. Lastly, when it comes time to pay the bill … she inconveniently informs us that their credit/debit machine is broken and it’s cash only. Say what? In that case, put a damn sign on the door that says«CASHONLY!!!» Luckily, my friend had enough cash. I can only imagine how many other people didn’t have cash. Geez.

Good food and pleasant service. Wifi free with a strong signal. Ordered the California and a classic burger. Waitress very helpful.

Stopped for breakfast on a Monday(which was a holiday). Place was short staffed and service was poor, you could see they were trying. Unfortunate restaurants do not look at calendars and plan accordingly to staff, it’s a disservice to customers and your employees. We were a party of 12, smaller parties who were sat after us got priority with having their order taken. Frustrating. Once order placed food took a long time. Probably short in kitchen too. Some food came out overdone, toast was cold, one order sent back and never came back out… Won’t be back. Plenty of others to try in town.

Cool little find. Four of us had lunch here during a recent visit to Mammoth. The atmosphere was super cool, the service great and food delicious! I highly recommend the West Coast Ruben and the onion rings! If you’re into old rustic photography, check out the bathroom! ;)

Fun little café right on the main road in and out of town! Cool mountaineering theme with a very local feel. Had an awesome breakfast. The eggs benedict were on point and my friends’ omelets looked delicious. Even bought a cool coffee mug for a few bucks.

We came here because of the Unilocal reviews, we wanted a nice breakfast place before we headed back home. The food itself was decent, but some of our food was cold. The staff was friendly enough and we were hungry enough for us not to care. But I’m writing this review because I got over charged. We were a party of 8, everyone paid their share, I used my card and I wrote what my share was, I received my receipt and the right amount was there, I authorized 39 to be charged. I came home and almost a week later I see my bank account and notice that this place has charged me an extra 20. I did not authorize 59 to be charged from my account, they robbed me!

Would have given it less if I could. I had a flavorless burger that u had to chase with water to swallow. Hubby had fish and chips with some kind of bitter slaw that he couldn’t eat. The fish was soggy. The server was nice enough and took $ 3 off of our bill because when she asked how it was I told her terrible. We have eaten here before and it’s always been just mediocre. Last time for me.

Food was bland, overpriced, and the service was bad so there’s really no reason to come here. I came and ordered a sandwich to-go, I was asked if I wanted any sides with my order and when I asked what my options were, the to-go girl showed me her computer screen. Every side had an additional upsale of around $ 1.50-$ 1.99 so I declined. However in the 10 minutes I was waiting for the sandwich I got bored and started rereading the menu. I noticed that sides were included in the price of my sandwich so I tried to get the attention of the to-go girl to let her know that I actually would like a side if I was already paying for it. None of the staff came out because it was nearly closing time and when I finally got someone’s attention, the to-go girl came back out to tell me she’d have to charge me $ 3.50 extra ontop of the price of my sandwich for a side that should have been included with my order. I left that girl a $ 2 tip before I reread the menu and discovered the mistake. I really wish I hadn’t.

I just bought a breakfast to go from Base Camp. Be sure to look at my photos so that you understand my review. There are times one walks out of a restaurant swearing they will never return. Today is one of those times. I ordered the hash brown quiche. I have had it many times over the years, as I have lived in Mammoth longer than this business has existed. For $ 10.90, total with tax, plus I stupidly tipped before looking at my take-out, i would expect a decent sized portion that is not BURNED. The quiche was a tiny piece about 3-inches square, and top top was burned. Not browned: burned! And it was a corner piece making it even smaller. The English muffin was just warmed, not toasted. I had to toast it at home. I feel completely ripped off. I did open it just prior to leaving, and told the waitress/cashier it was tiny and burned. She asked me to wait a moment, went to talk to the(?)cook in back, and returned telling me «he»(who I do not know for sure), said that is how it is baked. Well, over the years I have tolerated their various sizing, but this was the first time I have been served a burnt piece and such a tiny one! They have lost my business for good, which will cut a couple hundred from their income; probably not enough to care, but hopefully this review influences others not to patronize them with their blatant, non-caring attitude.

Only came in for a to-go bfast bagel. I had the egg, bacon, swiss/cheddar bagel, which was good, but honestly, took way too long to get and was a little lacking for $ 7. The gal that took my order was very nice and this place served my purpose in grabbing a savory bfast bite to go, but I for the price and 15mins, I don’t know that I would come back if I was in the area again.

I was not a fan of Base Camp at all. I was looking forward to a warm and comforting breakfast after a few days of camping, but I was disappointed. There was a group of 7 of us and 4 of our plates ended up having something wrong with them: eggs were refrigerator cold on two of them and had to be taken back, my steel cut oats did not come with milk or raisins, and one plate was delivered to the wrong table and had to be remade. It would have been different if everything else was ok, but we waited 10 minutes for coffee, did not have silverware for a few minutes after our food was delivered, and never had a refill on water. The waiter was kind enough to take off all of our coffees for the hassles, but overall I would not come back. The menu was simple so I was surprised to find this much chaos for a meal that was not too good in the first place. Sorry, I just have to be honest.

It was a late start morning in our way to hike, stopped for breakfast hoping to get it fast, and yes, we sat outdoors in a beautiful sunny morning, service was fast, our food came in ten minutes, I ordered a veggie omelette, it was tasty and a big plate. Price was fair. I recommend it for breakfast.

Excellent breakfast! Everything was fresh and was made in-house. Don’t be scared by the price — the plates offer hefty portions. Staff was very friendly, it wasn’t busy-we got seated quickly, and food came out within ten minutes of ordering! If you’re stopping in Mammoth Lakes and need a good fuel-up before a hike, this is the place. Enjoy!

Oh Basecamp. How I love you so. I often find myself daydreaming of your cozy booths and bottomless cups of coffee. Being reunited with your deliciousness is like being welcomed into heaven. Heaven for my tastebuds. My favorite part of coming to Mammoth is knowing Basecamp will be within reach. It’s the perfect place to stop before hitting the mountain. It has truly become our basecamp. And it’s the best there ever will be. It’s a good sign when you can come every couple months and see the same regulars sitting in their same spots reading the same paper. Order anything on the menu. Yes. Anything. Nuff said. Mike(the owner) always stops by to say hello. Ryan wasn’t there this trip but it’s always awesome to see him when we’re in town. Ashley took care of us every morning this weekend and was a gem as well. You can tell the staff are happy to be here and that speaks volumes. The hospitality makes this place home away from home and keeps me coming back for more. So sad to leave this place behind but I can’t wait until we are reunited again. Until next time Basecamp. Forever and for always.

Looks like it could be a decent spot, but my experience wasn’t stellar. I stopped in for a breakfast burrito on the way to work. I was in a bit of a rush, but figured I would have time to pick up some food To Go. The cashier said it would be 5 – 10 minutes, but right after I ordered, several people walked in and seated for breakfast also. At the 10-minute mark I asked him to check on it. I heard him ask the cook to get the burrito ready(I think he must have forgotten about it). It was a full 20 minutes before he brought the burrito out(yay, I was late to work). The burrito itself was a bit below average. I think it could have been better, but he suggested I add potatoes to it, which made the whole thing very dry(and more expensive as well :/) Overall, I might be down to come back for something else(maybe lunch?).
