Delicious! Got their swordfish and their happy hour is great! It’s a bit pricey but probably the best food I’ve had while at Mammoth:)

Back again !!! Still top notch. The gnocchi was the bomb and the bananas foster bread pudding was the best bread pudding I’ve ever had.

I had been to this wine bar one time previously and had a great experience, with fantastic wine and cheese pairings. However, I made reservations at Petra’s for New Year’s Eve 2015 and was sorely disappointed. For the $ 125 per person tab, I was expecting to at least see wine pairings for the menu items. The food on the five course menu was subpar and my party left most of it in our plates. Also, while the price did include a champagne toast at midnight, the staff neglected to bring us the champagne in time and were toasting one another with their own glasses of champagne at midnight, while my party had none. Only after prompting twice and sometime after the clock struck twelve did the waitress reluctantly bring our champagne. I was expecting a lot more from this venue.

service: Excellent, highly recommend the two pork dinner.(fantastic) salmon was very good(very well cooked). Short ribs were disappointing average with a premium price(avoid them). Crème Brule and bread pudding both were amazing.

Love Love Love this restaurant. Had a double date here last Wednesday. Reservations for 7pm. We started early in the bar and shared a bottle of wine from their great wine selection. Then we moved over to a cozy table by the window for dinner. Butternut Squash Gnocchi was a perfect appetizer. We all had a different meal; *2 Ways Pork-(our favorite) and side brussel sprouts were yummy too *Short Ribs-fall off the bone, wonderful sauce and side brussel sprout *Salmon– Salmon cooked nicely and wild rice side was unique. This was not the best dish on our table *Shrimp Pasta-fantastic combo of tomatoes and mushrooms with lots of shrimp and a simple broth sauce. It was perfect and different than what you expect if you order a shrimp pasta. Service was excellent. Friendly and professional. Was it Megan or do I have her name wrong? Loved it so much we made a reservation for New Years Eve Dinner!

My boyfriend and I were looking for a restaurant close to the Westin and I came across Petra’s on Unilocal! We decided to give it a go and were so happy we did. The minute we walked in we were acknowledged immediately by a gentleman who I think was the manager. They sat us down pretty quickly but it took a while for our server to come over to the table(which wasn’t a big deal seeing as we’re both reasonable people who were happy to not be waiting 45 minutes just to sit down– which is the norm in LA) but the manager came over to apologize and grab drinks for us. We ordered the Salmon Trio, Mushrooms, Arugula Salad, Shrimp Salad and Bananas Foster Bread Pudding. Everything was truly delicious! Our server and the rest of the staff were so pleasant and it’s such an adorably cozy place to be on a cold night. Will be back next time i’m in Mammoth!

We’ve made it a tradition to have dinner at Petra’s each time we go to Mammoth. The food is delicious by not only Mammoth standards, but also in the scheme of our most favorite restaurants. They always have some version of spaetzle on the menu and it is SO good! The whole menu and the cocktails are very good — we’ve actually enjoyed everything we’ve ordered. On our most recent visit last week we had the short ribs, the caesar salad, and the duck confit. Everything was so delicious, and the portions absolutely enormous(we ordered too much!). Lastly, the ambiance is so cozy yet a bit more upscale, especially for Mammoth. Try to get a table in the room with the fireplace! Reservations are definitely a must.

Love Petra’s Bistro and Wine Bar because they are an easy walk from the events center and gondola in the Village at Mammoth(across the street) and they are located right in the Alpenhof hotel where my family stays during their visits. «Petra’s» has a great wine selection with a staff that seems to know what they are talking about. I personally like this restaurant because it is walking distance from my home. Plenty of open parking. Check days of operation as I think they may be closed on Mondays.

Just went to Petra’s for the second time in 2 weeks and, unlike some other places in town that lack consistency, both times were spot on! We had the salmon trio for an appetizer that consisted of salmon mousse, gravlax and flaked smoked salmon accompanied by pickled radishes and cucumber and toasted pita bread. There is nothing to not like about this dish. Complementary flavors and the perfect portion size for sharing. I had the salade nicoise for dinner. A lot like the one you get in Paris but better! Seared ahi instead of tuna and no anchovies! This is the perfect summer salad. My Dad had the scallops and he liked them a lot. They were accompanied by an assortment of fresh vegetables and fava beans, which I tasted, and we’re so good! My Mom had the steak tartare, which is served in a very traditional way, and she liked it a lot too. We had peach and raspberry sorbet for dessert which was the perfect ending to a great meal. Palate cleansing and not too sweet. The whole experience was topped off by excellent service. Our server, Valerie, was attentive without being overbearing. Super helpful and genuine. My Dad is 86 and doesn’t hear very well. Some servers get impatient and ignore him but not Valerie. She spoke clearly and slowly and wasn’t put out at all. To me, that is the sign of great service and someone that likes their job. I highly recommend Petra’s. You will not be disappointed!

Amazing! The best food & service in town. Don’t worry about a thing, Co-Owner, Kirk, will take care of everything & Jon is a top-shelf server. The duck is Fabulous as is the Steak. Desserts are to die for — Hazelnut Chocolate Crème Brûlée & Flourless Chocolate Torte with Stout Ice Cream & Raspberry Sauce. Wonderful!

Keine Wiederholung geplant.

At the start of a lazy weekend and wanting a great dinner experience, we Unilocaled it and thought we found just the spot. Nope! This place was a miss… Two things save this place from a one star rating: the fantastic bread, and the fact that they turned down the very bright lights to improve the ambience when we asked. Kinda funny to be sitting next to a fireplace and couches in a cute log cabin kind of room, with bright lights glaring down! Our waiter was stoned out of his brain… Actually pretty sure he still will be for a few more days, even if he doesn’t have a single puff more! At least that is the best explanation we could find for his complete lack of personality and zero sense of good service. The bread was the best part of the meal; we hardly ever eat bread but finished the small basket(and were not offered more). The crab cakes were so terrible we each took one bite and needed a palate cleanser to get rid of the horrible taste of the fishy, unspiced mush out of our mouths. The manager came to our table to apologize, he said the chef tasted them and said they were not spiced enough. Good PR move, but still they should reevaluate this menu item! Our steaks were tasty although overcooked… They arrived medium rather than medium rare. We ate them rather than send them back for fear a replacement would be worse. Perhaps it was an off night for both the chef and our waiter, but our experience here was mediocre on all counts.

Excellent service by John! We sat on the couches by the fireplaces, had 6 half glasses of wine for wine tasting. The best wine was the house red. Tasted their duck confit(ok better without the beans), pork belly(ok, top portion has s lot of creamy fat which was interesting and mouth coating), baked Brie(incredible!), crab cakes(bomb), smoked salmon plate(I was hoping for a plate of cold smoked but it is a trio, actually pretty good when all combined). YA house red is so good that we got a bottle. Great place for a romantic dinner with food that is unique and yummy.

Pleasantly surprised by this spot! In general, the dining near the village doesn’t have me thrilled, but the food and unique drinks here will probably have me coming back for more. I had to wait a month or two, since they were closed in the off-season, but when I finally got in I was met with a quiet, romantically lit interior. Sadly, I don’t remember which entrée I had; I just remember that I really did enjoy it. The specialty cocktails were also very good. I’ll be back next time with my parents or a date– this is a cool cozy place to bring someone for a quiet dinner :)

Excellent food from a local restaurant. There are not to many restaurants in the Mammoth Village but we were referred here from our concierge from the Mammoth Mountain Inn, we told him it was my birthday and I wanted to go somewhere nice and thats one of the 4 places he referred us. The food was cooked perfectly and we had a very friendly waitress. We started with a mushroom soup and then split the Pork entrée and it was a perfect amount. Then we had crème brûlée for dessert. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a nice romantic quite place for dinner.

Tried to go in for après ski wine and a bite to eat… Not a single table was sat and we were told they are completely reserved and we couldn’t be helped. What is it with restaurants doing this? «We are fully reserved until January 2nd.» Owner and management: is this how you intend to manage your establishment?

Came here with a group of 9 to celebrate a bachelors party. Seeing all the high reviews we thought we would be in for a treat. But were we wrong. I got the New York steak dinner and it was super salty and overcooked(I ordered it medium rare). If you want high blood pressure and a salty meal, come here. If not, stay away We ordered some appetizers too. We had the duck Confit, it was okay but nothing to rave about. The pork belly was the only thing that was above average. We also got the mushrooms which was good, but not amazing All in all considering the price and taste, totally not worth it. I wouldn’t come back

We were staying one night in Mammoth Lake, but it was easy to understand that it’s not a place where it’s easy to get a good quality for money restaurant. Petra was a good choice, even if the price get also this«mammoth premium». What decided us is the quite short food menu. In Europe, it is a good way to judge the quality of a restaurant: you can’t have fresh ingredients to prepare 30 different dish every night. We were 4, and after sharing the shrimp cocktail(I don’t like cucumber, but it was fresh) and the olives + nuts(very good), two of is tried the scallops, my BF had the steak and I took the pork chop. No disappointment at all! The scallops(4 per plate) were huge and perfectly cooked(meaning still a bit rose inside). The marinated steak was amazing while my pork and it’s broccolini was full of flavor. We continued with desserts. A little min for the cannelé that was heated which create a crispy crust around it, not the best for that kind of pastries. The crème brulée and the key lime pie were delicious. We drank two wine bottle with that, from a huge wine, with a lot of choice by glass. We went for Californian wine, and if we except the first Pinot Noir bottle that was tasted corked and promptly replaced, the wine were good and quite reasonably priced. As European, we are always surprised by the American service. Most of the time, I consider the small talk and commercial smile to be fake, and I don’t like that. Our waitress here manage to avoid that. She was super friendly, very efficient, but not too present. She knew how to serve wine. If we except the habit of taking away the plates of some people at the table when others are still eating(something considered as very rude in some EU countries), it was perfect. For all that, we paid 70 $ tip included per person. This price tag could call for a more refined gastronomy, but doesn’t seem like outrageous to me.
