We came here at around 7:00pm on a Friday night and there was live music. I had an «American Pie» cocktail with Moonshine and it was delicious. Their menu was varied and service was relatively quick. Their quesadillas were really good. This is definitely a place to start the night and then do some bar hopping as by 8:30pm it started to slow down and people left. I would definitely come back!

On my first visit to Tin Roof I didn’t know what to expect because of all the poor reviews. My friends and I meet up once a month after work to have a Girl’s Night so we were on the hint for something new. Our spot used to be 60 West but unfortunately it closed. I do miss $ 5 martini nights! We decided to try Tin Roof because they seemed to have some decent happy hour specials. My food was actually pretty tasty. Nothing mind blowing, but good. The four of us split the fried pickles($ 3) and the Queso Blanco with chips($ 5-not on Happy Hour special). Separately I also had the Del Sol Quesadilla($ 6) and three Bud Light drafts($ 2/beer). My total bill with tip was under $ 20! Now that’s what I call a bargain. I was very happy. The fried pickles had the right amount of zing & batter(not greasy/cooked perfect), the queso was white with some jalapeño pieces floating around in it. It had great flavor. Unfortunately we had to ask for new tortilla chips because our first batch had a flavor of kerosine. Eww! I think they were old or the oil was old. The next batch was ok. A few of the chips had a stale taste even though they were supposed to be fresh. The Del Sol Quesadilla(It shows Pollo Del Sol in the menu. Why they word it differently is odd to me.) was yummy! I was pleasantly surprised. It had avocado, chicken, sun dried tomatoes, queso blanco & chipotle BBQ. It came with more tortilla chips, a side of salsa & a side of sour cream. Our waitress was very nice and she did a good job with all of our orders. I guess I would come back, but more than likely will try something different next time. I’m still waiting to find«Our Girl’s Night spot» like we had at 60 West. It always felt like home. Tin Roof was totally acceptable and I’m happy I gave it a try!

I really like this place for its food and friendly atmosphere and the fact that it’s an official spot for Derby City Run Club with great food and drink specials. They also have good daily specials(like taco Tuesday’s and Sunday brunch). I’m not a fan of the night life here but it’s not really my scene. If you’re looking for post college age drinking nights with loud music and«bros» then this is your place. If not, I would say go for some food and drink specials and be out of there by night fall ;)

I’ve only been here twice and they’ve been on weekend afternoons. So I haven’t experienced the rush at night. The two times that I came with a group of my soccer teammates, the experience was Ok. The last time that I went there a couple weeks ago, the place was only about a half full during that Sunday afternoon A group of people were playing beer pong at one of the tables and a few people were at the bar which seemed to be have a large selection of drinks. I didn’t get to experience the quality of any mixed drinks however. The group that I came with was my soccer team who plays in a soccer league that happens to be sponsored by this establishment so we got a discount on beer pitchers and food. We ordered appetizers and a couple pitchers and just enjoyed each other’s company. The appetizers arrived pretty quick and while the food was enjoyable– it wasn’t anything great in flavor. Our team did try to use a coupon we had received from the soccer league but after about 15 minutes, the waitress returned to the table stating she didn’t know how to apply the coupon. Her words were«I just started a couple weeks ago and no one taught me how to apply this.» She stated that no one else there knew how to apply it either. We waited another 10 minutes while the waitress tried calling someone who might know how to apply the coupon. This part of the experience was bad because it was very unprofessional how no one at the establishment was trained on how to apply a coupon that Tin Roof created. And it left us waiting about 30 minutes from the time we handed over the coupon and were able to pay. The waitress was very nice and quick attending to us and a couple other staff were apologetic about the whole coupon issue. I would go here again but with the hope that some of the actual food is more flavorful than the appetizers we got. Not sure if I would come here at night however based on the other reviews about the nightlife here.

I’ll be upfront. St. Matthews and its typical inhabitants are not really my kinda crowd. Not to say I am better or worse than they are, they just aren’t the folks that I roll with or associate with in my day to day life. That said, I LOVETRIVIA. I and a friend were looking for a trivia night on a Monday and I saw that the Tin Roof hosted one that had a good drink special and an even better wing special(the wings were delicious). We roll in right before the trivia fun starts and even though the place is pretty full we find a comfortable spot at the bar. The staff were all very friendly and helpful when we walked in so I thought to myself, «stop being such a judgmental a****** and just have a good time.» Let me preface the rest of this by saying that this particular night was the same day that Caitlyn Jenner(formerly Bruce Jenner) debuted herself to the world as a transgender woman. Being a homosexual myself and just a basically decent and compassionate human being I, and most other folks, were very proud and supportive of Miss Jenner’s bravery to put herself out there as an example and live her truth. So… trivia starts. Questions aren’t too hard, a little fun and the crowd is tame and everyone seems into it. After a few rounds the trivia master announces the scores so far for each team, listing each team’s name in the process. The leading team decided to name themselves CAITLYNJENNER’S VAGINAMONOLOGUES. This elicits snickers from the crowd and prompts the the trivia master to say, «I’ll tell you what it’s saying… I used to be a man!» How incredibly rude, insensitive and above all ignorant. Like I said, I am gay and my trivia companion’s stepfather is transgendered so to hear these intolerant attitudes and crass jokes at a brave human beings expense was a big bummer. I had heard stories from folks before of homophobia and name calling from the crowd at Tin Roof, but I was shocked that I was actually experiencing it. I have a few friends who frequent Tin Roof and gave them the benefit of the doubt that it was a better place than that. We decided to leave soon after realizing that we weren’t really comfortable there. My friend approached a waitress on our way out and told her why we were leaving and why she was disgusted with what had gone on. The waitress was very kind and understanding and said she was personally surprised that the trivia master allowed that name to be used as he approves them all beforehand. I’m not surprised that he allowed it since he riffed on the name and made is own jokes about Miss Jenner. On top of all of this, the table of folks sitting behind us were using their waitress(either a friend or a co-worker, I’m still not sure if they were employees off the clock on their night off or just there) to Google answers for them in the kitchen during rounds. I actually heard them ask a girl at the table ask the answer to a question and saw the waitress say«I’ll Google it» then go back to the kitchen and return with the answer. I know we didn’t pay to play and it’s all free and for fun but it’s the principle. I will say that the majority of the staff were very very friendly and welcoming, especially our bartender. He said it was one of his first night shifts as he usually worked days and he couldn’t have been friendlier or more attentive. I wish the rest of our experience was as good as the one he gave us. Unfortunately, I was proven right about this place and its clientele and will not be returning.

It’s not bad. I did NOT know ahead of time that it was a live music venue, so I did NOT know ahead of time that there would obviously be a cover for such a venue. But cover is to be expected for a live music place. Since the bar is in St. Matthews and it isn’t a dive, drink prices are higher than what I like. But service was pretty quick for how busy it was and the bartenders were pleasant. The band wasn’t…great. The songs they played were to my liking. But the band wasn’t great. So I was a little cranky about having to pay cover. But I wouldn’t be against going back.

This is the worst bar in Louisville by far. It is always overrun by people who turned 21 years old the previous week or have a fake ID to get in at 14 years old. The bouncers are sexist and will let girls fall on the floor, but if a male is «swaying,» will have two bouncers aggressively escort him out. On top of that, I saw one of the bouncers get on a power high and display the utmost barbarian behavior on a female that was sticking up for one of these guys and put his hands on her neck pushing her aggressively out of the bar. He spilled her drink on her and at one point while pushing her against the guard rail, yelled, «I don’t care that you’re a girl!» I saw the whole scene and she had done nothing wrong, but stick up for her friend being kicked out for«swaying» in a bar where girls are rolling on the ground and throwing up in the corner. Unless you are looking to support a bar like this, I zero recommend going there. There are many better places to have a great time in Louisville and this place gives the whole city a bad name.

Not a fan. The first time I made a visit I was with three other people and we were seated at a high-top that unfortunately was next to the stage. We were asked to order food, and right after the good was delivered we were told we needed to move because they were taking our table away to make room for the live music. … you didn’t think to tell us this when you sat us? The food want even anything to brag about, it was substandard bar food. I made a second visit with a friend when he wanted to go see a band that was playing. It took a while to get a drink but at least I got one – it is for that reason alone that I have this place one star.

Service was slow which seemed odd to me and my friend because there were two servers and maybe 4 tables at the most. When folks come in there for lunch and they’re dressed in dresses and ties, they’re obviously on lunch breaks so it would seem the servers would have a greater sense of urgency. The food was pretty good, but I was only there because there was a 25% off special and we had to go there to get our Tap and Run entries anyway. I’d probably go there again late at night to drink beer with friends and/or to hear live music, but not just to dine. The pizzadilla is a neat concept, but I’ve made better ones at home honestly.

No wonder they already have a low rating. Ruined by birthday event due to catty young bartenders who threw my friend out of the establishment. They need to learn how to run a business and keep the customer FIRST as opposed to the employees egos!

I would like to see Louisville go in this direction. No reason Louisville can’t be a better country music scene, based on turnout for any country act that comes to town it’s always a hit. As for Tin Roof, the food is just ok. Not bad bar food, but definitely not somewhere I would go specifically to eat. Good drink and wing specials. Monday all you can eat wings $ 10 then wash it down with one of five old man cans for $ 1. Thursday they have the largest plastic cups I have even seen in a bar, 32oz for $ 3. I think they have a special every night, but those are my favorites. Music here is usually pretty good, live act I believe every night. They bring in some up and coming acts. Only down side is the sounds system. It is literally so loud you can yell across the table and still have to repeat yourself a few times to be heard. No way to have a conversation when the band is playing. Not sure why they crank it up so loud, Nashville bars do not do that and the bands sound great. We usually head outside so we can actually hear what is being said. Seating is another issue, on a busy night forget about finding a seat. If you got so lucky to get a seat, be warned after a certain time, tables and chairs are moved to make room for the dance floor. This location would be a lot better in a bigger building with a bigger outside. Since it is st matthews it would probably cost a fortune for the size location to do TinRoof right. They have made changes to try and make more room, got rid of several booths which were just in the way. All of this being said, TinRoof is my favorite bar in St Matthews. Decent music, good drink specials, nice size dance floor, and friendly staff, oh I almost forgot it is the only bar where we actually feel safe in St Matthews. It could be improved, but for now it’s the best thing going in St Matthews. Note: If you want to blend in better wear you boat shoes and polo… or you can always rock your plaid whatever.

I love the open-air concept for visiting with friends and listening to music while enjoying a drink, but this place is loud. The the band was loud, the music played on the band’s breaks was loud, and the people crowded into the place were loud. I don’t know if it was acoustics or what, but I was yelling at the person next to me and could hardly concentrate on what they said due to the noise. Not pleasant. I beat a retreat as quickly as I could Great décor and indoor/outdoor concept. Just too stinking loud to be any fun.

We went in for a drink and the place was packed and so loud that we could not hear ourselves think let alone talk to each other! The bartender was friendly, but overall it was just sooo loud! We looked over the menu and it looked decent, but I will have to go back another time when it’s not so loud.

I was excited to try this place but my excitement turned to disappointment. I stopped by for happy hour and the served did not even mention it. Service was below expectation. My sandwich was less than appealing. The shrimp was rubbery and had no flavor. I did not stay for the music so hopefully it makes up for the food.

I was super excited to see what this Tin Roof was all about, unfortunately, it was a total bust!!! Food was terrible, should have known from the appetizer that the sandwiches were going to be bland and dry as well. I took 2 bites of my sammy and pushed it aside. The server told me I must have ordered the wrong thing and to try something else next time. Next time? There won’t be a next time.

Bad food and worse service. Wine was served in a shattered glass. Waitress replaced it but was indifferent. Sandwiches were high fat and plain. Fries were extra salty. The food seemed like it was straight out of the Sysco packaging with limited seasoning or preparation. Service was so slow. Will not go back.
