Our first visit and I should have tried the Ruben. I was having a drink and decided to have the calamari. The menu stated«lightly breaded». The breeding was heavier than I am accustomed to and it was extremely salty. So salty, I was unable to eat it. When I told the server it was too salty for me to eat, she said«oh, sorry about that». It was frustrating to pay $ 12.00 for a dish I could not eat. My dinner partner had the burger and it was very good.

I love the food at Molly’s on Baxter so I tried the one on Shelbyville. Overall, Molly’s needs to do better at training its employees. Server is always subpar at the restaurants. Tonight was worse than expected. I paid $ 16 for a tiny ceasar salad with the smallest piece of salmon. Additionally, I was given a dirty martini that was mostly olive juice. Even the bartender said«that doesn’t look right.» I waited 20 minutes in total to get a drink. I won’t be back here, which is unfortunate since it is close to my house and I dine out at least four times per week.

Great place! Bloody Mary was excellent, my party ordered the Lamb meatloaf sandwich, the steak sandwich, and the Black Angus burger with cheese and bacon. All 3 were amazingly tasty, with large portion sizes!!! My question year old bottomless pit of a teenage son actually got full!!! Will definitely be back!

The manager Brendan is a really generous guy. He worked with my nonprofit to organize an event in their loft(a great event space for up to 75 folks), including setting up a speaker system and screen for the projector. He also donated 15% to our group! They are extremely generous, and our group of 50 left full and happy. Also, the spinach artichoke dip is delightful :-)

On the plus side, it’s a nice open space with plenty of televisions for sports and such, and the beer/liquor menu is extensive. Unfortunately, however, I’ve tried a couple of food items off the menu, and both were spectacularly bad. In particular, corned beef and cabbage isn’t difficult to do, and should be mastered by any self-respecting Irish Pub, but Molly does it poorly: the beef had a mushy texture, the cabbage was undercooked and under-salted, and the carrots were old, tough, and tasteless.

This location is much nicer than the one on Baxter Avenue. It has a cleaner environment, it is brighter(more windows), has a «better atmosphere»… it’s just better. It’s a great place to watch soccer. Lots of TVs, have the big screen… But the Baxter location is where the true soccer fans go… Tell you what. For a good soccer type atmosphere, go to the Baxter location. For absolutely everything else, come to the St Matthew’s location. It’s clean, it’s big, and it’s nice. Parking sucks, though.

We had a group of 10 or so last night. I had made contact with the owner to make arrangements. Weather spoiled our outdoor plan. We were upstairs in the balcony bar. Our service was superior. Our bartender eagerly fixed our groups varied drinks. The wine selection was very nice! The food was also delicious and perfect for our group. We had onion rings, Scottish eggs, pretzels, cod fish bites … all delicious. I had a fabulous burger there last week for lunch. Both times the food and service were excellent. This is a perfect little spot for a private group upstairs or a beer at the bar or lunch on the patio or any other tie you want well made bar food.

I’d recommend visiting Molly Malone’s for the pub more than the restaurant. The food here is unimpressive to me. I’ve mostly tried their sandwiches, including the Steak & Swiss, Grilled Chicken, Beer Battered Fish, and the Irish Reuben. Some are better than others, but most are average with nothing memorable or special about them. The menu selection is wide enough that you will be able to find something to try, but there are many other places I’d rather eat at around town. However, I do like Molly’s for their pub. They have a good selection of local beer, a nice patio for drinking on a warm day, and a huge four-sided bar in the center of the building. There are plenty of TVs, so it’s a good spot to watch games. Molly’s is particularly known for their nightlife, and should be a go-to spot when bar hopping in St. Matthews. It can get pretty packed on a weekend night, and the DJ usually plays good music to get people on the dance floor.

Fiancé and I stopped by here to hang out and enjoy the sunshine. They have all of the hearty Irish dishes you’re looking for at an Irish pub. My boyfriend is a big fan of the hearty, meaty meals but I’m a vegetarian. Surprisingly, they have a great deal of options for vegetarians so this place was sort of perfect. They have a great selection of beer and house wine and an extremely attentive staff. Definitely will be going back.

Not what I expected. Visited on January 31,2015. Service was TERRIBLE! My table was 1 of 3 being occupied. The bar was busy but the waitress we had spent more time flirting with 2 gentlemen that were watching college basketball on a Saturday. She had the audacity to sit down at the table with them to chat and took us 25 minutes to order. I person in my party ordered a beer right as we sat down and it took her 15 minutes to bring it out. Not sure if she was new or not but NOT an excuse! Needless to say she got about 7% tip which is way more than she deserved. Not sure if I would ever go back unless I sat at the bar.

Canned mediocrity can sometimes be reassuring, which is why chains exist, right? On this visit, service was adequate, the food was adequate(their queso tastes like glue but other than that, right?), and really have no complaints. The cod plate I got was executed well and I like their cole slaw a lot and that’s the main reason I was in Molly Malone’s to start.

They just got a new menu and it seems much improved. It’s a little more simplified and much nicer looking. The only new thing I’ve tried so far was the fried chicken which I would definitely get again. The fish sandwich is my normal go to. They have a good beer selection and normally a beer or two on special. If you don’t get something on special the prices can get a bit high. Service has always been good for me. I go here regularly to play trivia on either Tuesday or Wednesday nights. I’m pretty sure all the other teams cheat; I’m not sure how else they beat us! Who the heck knows what the markings are called on the hind legs of My Little Ponies? Apparently everyone but me: P In all seriousness Louisville Trivia runs very good games. Scott goes to good effort to make fun categories such as tv theme song rounds and does a good job of making questions that are challenging but answerable. I’d recommend it to anyone who likes to shove it in people’s faces when others go against your answer even tho you knew you were right along.

Decent place to go and watch a game and get bar food. Beer was cold with a decent selection. Nothing crazy good nor crazy bad. Kind of what you would expect it to be. I was there specifically, for the USAVS. Portugal game, it was PACKED. My food took about 45 minutes, which the waitress said would happen, so no complaints there. They were really busy. I had the Irish Reuben, the taste was good, but the meat was cut way to thick and it was a struggle to chomp through it without destroying the integrity of the sandwich. It became a real mess to eat. No big deal if your out with the guys, but I wouldn’t eat that in the presence of women… just saying.

Dinner took over an hour to arrive People actually sat down after we drank a beer and were finally served our appetizer and were done eating and gone before we had our plates. When the food arrived to our table, my plate was Luke warm. Extremely disappointed. The Bardstown Road location has always been great. Not so much for Shelbyville Road. Manager came to our table and promised me a hot plate of food in five minutes… it’s been 10… Ugh.

Last weekend, while at Saint’s, my friends and I decided to walk over to Molly Malone’s to check it out because we didn’t make it in time for the ugly Christmas sweater gathering. We got one drink and talked by the bar. The bar was then about to close so since I had just drank an entire beer I figured I’d better use the restroom before the long drive and the security treated us like criminals. They wouldn’t let us in the restroom and said we shouldn’t have waited until the last minute and shooed us out very quickly. Not a good experience at all.

It’s an awesome bar to watch sports in. The owner is super friendly and opens the bar early for Arsenal games. Also has all the college football channels, including Big Ten Network. The food is good but a little expensive and the prices are a little steep for a beer.

With a name like Molly Malone’s I just HAD to take a detour and try some of the local brews. Not a bad choice. They have really great beers, mostly local and the outdoor seating is pretty nice. Finger foods we tried were the German pretzels with the Guiness cheese sauce-eh, it was okay; and the chicken wings-I ordered them extra crispy but they weren’t. :( Place starts hopping after 10. Great place for hanging out after a game, or for just hanging out.
