Have you ever been out after prom and just needed to blow some energy, because you’re all dressed up and you have no where to go?! As a high school teacher about to marry another high school teacher this happens to us 2 – 3 times a year. Our post chaperone prom night took us to several bars on Bardstown road. The Backdoor(per ushe. And where I could have chilled all night), Cumberland Brews(where when we got there it was about 1:30 and they were doing last call. I thought it was derby season?), and then the Planet. The Planet, is snuggled on Bardstown road, across from Cumberland and RCD … with multi colored lights shining from its space, music videos playing on the 5 tv screens, karaōke, dancing, and white wall to wall décor… And no cover. What doesn’t sound appealing about that?! Bardstown Rd. Was a bit dead for a Friday, but we weren’t ready to throw in the towel just yet at 2 am so our evening to us to The Planet. There was one other party who was exiting as we were coming in, and three lovely bartenders behind the bar. The ambiance was welcoming and the place was pristine. There was also no one in there;) But apparently they have dance parties on Friday night from 9p– close. I love to dance. But tonight, with the crowd being thin they said karaōke was an option too. I love karaōke. Our group managed to pick several songs that they could play(it was very impromptu) but they said they have an «official karaōke dude» another evening who comes in… They were just doing this because it was low key dead and who doesn’t love a little impromptu karaōke? So we got a few drinks, sang a ton of songs and danced my way through 2,000 steps. Before we knew it, it was 330 am. Holy smokes! Needless to say, the evening turned into a fun night filled with a lovely bar that was accommodating and fun. My friends had fun dancing and singing and so did I. I would love to go back on a night where they have people and see what kind of crowd frequents this place… Or do they have one? Hm. #illbeback

Amy mixes a tasty Cosmo, music is Dean Heckel, Jennifer and Marge are FAB hostesses. It is a great evening at The Planet!

Wish I had a bar like this in my hometown. It reminds me of my favorite bar in college. Really relaxing and fun at the same time. A must see for all queer female tourists in the area.

Brunch at The Planet is awesome. Simple menu that rotates makes it interesting. Oh, and it’s cheap! Less than $ 10.00 per person with owner-friendly service and a comfy spot to be… can’t pass this up.

Great bartenders. Friendly owners. Live music, DJ and/or karaōke most weekends. Usually free; occasionally a $ 5 cover. Great atmosphere and clean bathrooms. Windows are opened during good weather with nice sidewalk seating still in view of entertainment.

Decided to try this place out because Louvino was insanely busy. I was extremely happy we went. The décor is modern and completely white. I think this might become a problem with food and drink spillage, but it looked amazing. I was in love. Walking into the bathroom is like walking into Marie Antoinette’s personal bathroom. I felt amazing just being there. The food was divine. I consider this place more of a bar then a bistro. However, when you taste the food, you realize it is so much more than that. My party tried the nachos, quesadilla and the pizza. All three of them are largely portioned so the 3 of us had plenty to eat. While we enjoyed some food and adult beverages, we participated in trivia. Trivia added to the atmosphere and everyone at The Planet that evening began joking with each other and hanging out because of it. I loved the experience, food and general feel of The Planet. I would honestly go back just for the quesadilla and stay for some drinks.

Went in there and the canned music was so loud we left. I do like to be able to have a conversation with the person I am with

Great ambience and friendly owners and staff. I love the décor and 80s videos. I love that they have ginger beer and our appetizer was very good. Great place to hang. The owners obviously care about their customers. The blue lighting is awesome :)

I was ready to write a thorough review because I really love this place, and especially the owners, but Scott M basically wrote my review! I agree with everything he wrote. Especially with regard to the owners and the hope that the Planet becomes a fixture in the Highlands and helps us keep Louisville weird for many years to come(and classy at the same time). Keep doing what you’re doing Marge and Jennifer!

Visited the planet this past Saturday night for a cocktail. Didn’t realize I was hungry until I saw the couple sitting nexr to me eating a hot brown panini so i ordered one. It was excellent. Great price and took leftovers home. Service was friendly and fast. Really liked the atmosphere. Laid back. Nice to go to a place where the chairs are so comfortable!

Sophisticated yet open and friendly. Every detail has been attended to and not just the outstanding food and impressive drink collection. The chairs, the teaspoons, the wine glasses, the décor. The best Sauvignon Blanc in town, surpassed only by the attentive service. I don’t usually gush, but this place is the bomb and I’m so proud it’s in Louisville. The music is exceptional and showcases lots of local talent. It’s a «everyone knows your name» type place with a Manhattan feel. The menu changes regularly so it’s surprising that the food is exceptional every time. We love it and go regularly.

Not sure about the«Bad Review’s» but I can tell you from our experience… This place is GREAT. LOVE the ambiance, the music/video’s they play I LOVE… Maybe I am dating myself, but it’s always something that makes me think of good times in my past. And it can be changed at the drop of a dime if you ask!!! You will NOT find two owners who care more about your experience while in their bar than Marge and Jennifer!!! Now for the food… IT’S OUTSTANDING!!! I am aware of the limitations the kitchen has and for Chef DIVA to be able to put that kind of food out is UNBELIEVABLE!!! Everything we have had is out of this world!!! Plenty of Vegetarian options for either dinner or a quick snack. This is my wife and I’s new«Date Night» destination! You will not find a more knowledgeable Bartender and they make everything fresh(Juices, ect…) outstanding cocktails, with specials all the time. Really I can not say enough great things about this place… other than the fact it isn’t closer to our house, but I would travel to get here any day!!! If your looking for a great place to go for a romantic date night or looking for cocktails before hitting the«Scene» this should be on your«List». Hope and believe it will become a fixture in the Highlands for many years to come!!!

My husband and I went there before dinner on Valentines Day. The place was fairly empty and well staffed. We waited awhile to even be acknowledged by the bartenders as we sat right in front of them at the bar. The female bartender who initially greeted us totally disappeared for about 15 minutes to change the music(you could see her from where we were sitting), so eventually another bartender took our drink order and seemed to struggle making a highland mule and several minutes later we got that and the bourbon on ice my husband ordered. The place is very dated(crappy 80’s music videos like Steve Winwood playing on the tvs– and I’m a child of the 80’s).the whole vibe is boring and unfriendly and the service horribly slow. Save your $$ for Hideaway Saloon or Roux, or Time and Space.

Can only review service, atmosphere and drinks we had as we did not get a table or eat. Stop by on Valentine’s Day evening before our reservation at Asiatique. Décor is very dated. Feels a bit like an 80s theme. Even worse was the«love» themed videos playing which included Steve Winwood, Huey Lewis and more. Bartender gave us their cocktail menu then disappeared for a while. Minimal beer selection, minimal bourbon selection. Just not memorable or fun.
