We are a young couple with two small children, and we regularly enjoy coming to Shanghai diamond Chinese. They are family-friendly and go the extra mile for their customers and restaurant patrons. The Decour is upscale and pretty generic and the food dishes get an eight out of 10. When I don’t get a chance to eat in, from time to time we take food to go. I highly recommend Shanghai.

So we went last night and we sat down at around 8:30. By the time we ordered and the food got to our table it was like 9. I don’t remember ever going to a restaurant with such good and fast service. The food was yummy. The orange chicken was actually bigger than I imagined but, well more for me :) I’m coming back.

Food was horrible, w/out flavor. Gen Tao’s chicken was more like sweet and sour w/old red peppers thrown in. Wife described chicken consistency as rubber cement w/wet styrofoam.

Yuck. Ordered chicken fried rice and beef fried rice to go; both were inedible. The meat was, at best, badly freezer burned. At worst spoiled. Been very impressed by the kosher food out here so far, but definitely won’t be going back here.

Thursday nights at Shanghai… always. They expect us to arrive, we expect to be there! The owners are always visible and greet us warmly. The food is great! When we walk in the waiters are already asking us if we want the usual. By the time we sit down, there is a diet coke and a beer on the table along with the yummy fried wontons(they never forget to bring my husband the spicy mustard!) We usually order Kung Pao Chicken and string beans on the side. If we have more people to share we order the Poo Poo platter(?), egg roll, wonton soup, orange beef. Everything is good, haven’t had anything I didn’t like, and if I didn’t, they would replace it immediately. Tim is our usual waiter and we’ve become Thursday evening friends over the years. It’s like going home, if that home was in China!
