First time at the Grove and the LA farmers market and I was in food heaven! I would choose the time that I am dieting to stumble upon this little gem but nevertheless I did my best to find a place that would semi stick with my diet preferences. This place is cash only so I had to go to the ATM but it was definitely worth it. When we first got there the lady at the register let us have a sample of the spinach and cheese borek. It was a little cold but delicious. She then reassured us that when we order she makes them fresh and hot. I was sold. It took about 10 mins to make and it was good! I had never heard of the dish but it was another great food adventure for me and I loved it! This is a Mediterranean inspired food joint and it really tasted authentic. As for customer service it was cool I saw all the negative comments but the lady at the register when I went was really sweet. She was even happy to tell me the name of and how to spell the fish when I asked. Overall perfect ! A must try.

This was a nice little place located in beautiful downtown Monrovia. I was surprised that we were one of the few people there for lunch on a holiday, but we came to check out the buffet. I was expecting kabobs and hummus – hummus we got, though kabobs were not included in buffet :( The buffet was essentially grilled chicken, meatballs, and a couple other stewed meats. For veggies, they had overcooked green beans, lentils, and more green beans. Hummus was aplenty, as was the baba ganoush(sp), and tzatziki. I really wish they put labels on the buffet table so we knew what we were eating. Meats: Everything was decent; nothing stood out, but it wasn’t horrible. I think one of the dishes may have been goat or something, but no one could tell. The grilled chicken was okay, though some pieces were on the drier side(mix with the hummus!) There was another stewed chicken dish that had good flavor, but the bones were completely mixed into the stew, making it a big hassle to spit out. Veggies: Overcooked. I wasn’t impressed at all. Hummus section: Hummus was light, and you can tell they definitely went easy on the seasonings(lemon/garlic) as it borderlined bland. The baba ganoush was smoky and full of flavor though. Tzatziki was also okay, though I pretty much stuck with the baba ganoush for my dipping choice. They also had a chipotle-esque flavored chili which was delicious though. Overall, I was disappointed that I wasn’t getting kabobs(perhaps I’m just culturally ignorant) and the meats were sub par. Veggies were a train wreck, and hummus bar was fine. The music sounded culturally Indian, though I can’t say for sure. I was pretty confused over whether or not I was eating Mediterranean food or a fusion… though I suppose for $ 13.95 buffet you can’t expect too much. I don’t think I’ll be back though…

Delicious Middle Eastern food stand in the heart of the famous LA Farmer’s Market. Came here on a busy weekend day and had a great overall experience. There’s a wide variety of food options at the two stands they have, from Lavash flatbreads to classic gyros and falafel plates. My only reason for taking a star off came from the lack of a «sauce» bar like at a Bella Pita, etc. I really like to lather up my food with tahini, tzatsiki and hummus, etc. Parking is rough at the market/the Grove during busy season/weekends, but otherwise shouldn’t be too difficult.

Subpar Middle Eastern dishes served up with an extra helping of attitude. These ladies are straight up rude. This place is cash only. .The sign is placed by the glass inconspicuously. You won’t see it until you are at the front ordering.. Then you’ll have to go to the atm to withdraw $. This happened to many people in line before me. How do they not accept credit cards with the amount of foot traffic that goes through here? My beef Sharman gyro was not good. Meat was super dry and the sauce wasn’t like tzatziki sauce I’m used to. My husband got kebab plate… meat was ok. Too much of that barley side dish.

If you want good Mediterranean food at about 20% higher price than the going rate in Los Angeles, plus with parking and traffic AND served by a really, really, rude lady, this is your spot. The only thing going for this place is the Farmers Market location and that the food actually tastes decent. I swear the lady must be thinking, «stupid American» when you order. And if you’re a tourist, she probably mutters«stupid tourist.» If you’re already in the area and crave a tangy ethnic dish of some culture, go to the Brazilian place 3 rows to the north.

Had the falafel plate which comes with hummus, pita bread, salad. Crunchy falafel. Hummus was smooth. Pita bread was excellent warmed up and soft.

This is THEBEST Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food in Los Angeles and outside of Santorini. I had this amazing food while on island of Santorini… I can still taste amazing flavors when I close my eyes and this place comes very close to it. Kolokithokeftedes still haunts my taste bud. I have been going to Moishe’s for nearly a decade and the food has been consistently delicious. I always get their chicken kabob combo(dark meat) with rice and Tzatziki, and I haven’t had a bad bite… NOTEVEN A SINGLEBADBITE! I also get pickled radishes and peppers, which are free. Chicken is always juicy and cooked to perfection, rice is amazing(and it is very difficult to please this Asian gal on rice) and Tzatziki… I can easily eat a bathtub of their Tzatziki in one sitting. Even their pickled radishes are pickled to perfection. Now to the controversial subject of their service… The ladies of Moishe’s aren’t exactly friendly. I believe the years of working the food booth at the Farmers Market have made them jaded. Trust me on this… They weren’t that bad 10 years ago. They have become«unfriendly» over the years. I don’t blame them… They probably need a vacation, perhaps to a Greek island. I am only giving them one star deduction because they remind me of Seinfeld’s Soup Nazi.

I walked around the whole Farmer’s Market and I couldn’t decide what to eat. Once I walked by I knew what I wanted!!! I ordered a Lamb Gyro to go. The lady even said I pronounced it correctly; my Greek cousins would be so proud. The Gyro was delicious!!! I wish I had purchased another one for later. Minus one star because it was really greasy, not sure if that is normal.

I love the food. It’s delicious and almost the same as my moms cooking. I read some reviews, and I don’t know what people are talking about. I’m not sure what kind of people raised you, but I was taught not to judge others because I simply do not know what they have, or are, going through. Look at yourself and your flaws before you begin judging others. To those who are«treated like idiots,» maybe if you read the signs or menus BEFORE ordering, you would answer your own questions. It’s like parking in a spot that says«No Parking» and asking a parking attendant if you can park there. Anyways, like I said the food is great. People complain about the pricing, but what isn’t expensive in LA?

Review is based on customer service and price. If you’re going to charge a premium for your food, have a better attitude. Food is good while the service blows. If you’re talking straight food, this place is a great Mediterranean place. A little on the pricey side, but that’s what you get when you come to the Farmer’s Market. They gotta pay their rent so they’re going to charge a premium. Not to mention, all of the tourists are going to pay as well. I got the beef shawarma which is roughly $ 10 and a small side of hummus for $ 3.50. There are plates that run as high as $ 16 – 18! I would rather go to a sit-down restaurant at that point and get served if I’m paying that much. The shawarma was pretty good — packed with beef and tasted delicious. Sauce was on point. The pita bread was a little soft and broke easily though. The«small» side of hummus was actually a pretty good portion. It comes with a couple pieces of pita bread as well. However, the service is HORRIBLE. The lady at the cash register is extremely rude. Not willing to answer your questions… she thinks you’re an idiot if you ask any type of question. Horrible… She must hate her life. Personally, I would like to be welcomed to where ever I’m getting my food, whether that’s at a sit-down restaurant, a fast-food place, or a spot like Moishe’s. If I’m not comfortable, you aren’t going to get my business. If the fat lady is taking your order, I’d look for something else to eat. There are tons of options in the Farmer’s Market. Or if you’re a brave soul and can deal with the rude customer service, food is solid.

More like 3.5 stars but 4 on their good days. Before I talk about the food, let me expound on the service here. If you easily get butt hurt, don’t order from here. The staff is even rude to other staff people. It’s funny. It’s utilitarian. You give them money, you get great food. There are no friendly exchange. No smiles. No check-ins. Maybe it is a cultural thing. Or maybe they are like a few of my aunts where everything is cool but they just don’t emote. Just don’t take it personally. Just know that you are going to be fed well and you are going to fed delicious food. I normally get lamb gyro, hummus, babaganoush, the falafel plate and dolmas. Cash only. Make sure you have some on hand because the ATMs here charge pretty high.

This review is based purely on their food, because yes, their customer service sucks. But since this isn’t really a sit-down restaurant, I don’t see the point in giving them super low ratings based on how nicely they can take your order and hand you your food. However, the reason why I only give them three stars is because: 1) The preparation was really sloppy. I got the chicken shwarma wrap and there was hummus and tazikhi sauce randomly spread all over the pita, including on the outside of the wrap. 2) It was $ 10 for a mediocre wrap, which in my opinion should really just be around $ 6. There are so many places in the farmers market to try, and I personally wanted the Brazilian BBQ place but the line was crazy long. This place is quick, and the only Mediterranean place there. The wrap was pretty satisfying, but probably wouldn’t go out my way to come here again.

This place was cash only so be prepared. The service wasn’t to great and their food was not memorable. Was 30 bucks for two. It was a hole in the wall in the farmers market and I was expecting it to be much better. I’d pick George’s in Dtla anytime over this place. The chicken was dry and the beef gyro had no flavor. The 2 different types of hummus was really good with the pita bread.

WROSTCUSTOMERSERVICEEVER!!! I see a lot of mixed reviews on here about the service. Probably encounter different workers. A lady that was obese with VERY bad hygiene took our order she looked like she was angry at life. she was SO rude… we paid sat down then my mom noticed she charged us for 2 waters. I go back up with the receipt CLEARLY in my hand and the other SNOTTY worker was looking at me as if I was speaking Martian. I said excuse me you charged me for 2 waters. The LAZY bad hygiene lady was like no I charged for for 2 this 2 that and 1 water… I was like NO you charged us twice it SHOWS it on the receipt I am holding. The Snotty worker was like SIGH sorry and handed me another bottle of water… I was watching those 2 snotty workers be rude to other customers after us. DEARORNEROFMOSHIES… HIRE A NEWTEAM… and if that is your family working there you better tell them to clean up their appearance and get a new attitude… DOUBLECHECKYOURRECIEPTS !!! ************************ FOODRATED4 SERVIVCE — 10000000000

There’s so many options at the farmers market it’s kinda overwhelming. Why choose Moishe’s? Well I do because I love their falafel. It’s actually some of the best I’ve ever had. Always fried fresh, and less than a dollar per ball it’s a fun snack while I can still get another something to round out my meal at the market. Their service however, is terrible. No one smiles, they don’t seem happy that you’re ordering. It’s like an abusive relationship and you’re scared to place an order.

Great service and surprisingly delicious! Better than your average Shwarma spot. I am so happy my wife ordered from them. Forget the fish n chips next to them. I loved how tasty and how the beef shwarma melted in my mouth. Aaahhhh!!! Soooo goooood!!!
