They are the only Persian restaurant near my house. All the good ones are on Westwood. It seems as if the food used to be a lot better a few years back. It is not bad, but I have definitely had better. Also if you order the delivery it is the same guy who worked at a Persian restaurant on Beverly drive before it closed. And he is rude. He made me walk out to pick up my food once because he didn’t want to get out of the car. Oh and check out the amount of tah deeg they give when you order a full order of it.

HAIRINMYFOOD. i’ve ordered from here multiple times. both through grub hub and directly from the restaurant. i’ve had bad experiences through both. I found a hair in the food before and they were difficult with returning items but i like to give second chances. I FOUNDANOTHERHAIRINTHEFOODTONIGHT. i called through grub hub and the restaurant wouldn’t help at all. horrible.

I finally decided to give this place try. I have to honestly say the experience was very nice. Food was great, service was not bad taking in consideration the place was completely booked, the entertainment was incredible. Only one small issue which wasn’t so bad but the spacing of the chairs were to close to each other. Basically you could be sitting next to a complete stranger, now I can be wrong because there was two big birthday parties when we visited. I will be going back for sure and hope that the sitting arrangements will be different. to the owner for the entertainment. Much fun.

Shah Abbas is the kind of restaurant that you might see on Gordon Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares where he comes in and fixes everything up. Because Shah Abbas needs that… badly. This is an aging hulk of a restaurant that has seen better days, both physically, and in the kitchen. Carpets stained and dirty. Furniture seen better days. Went there the other day, and the place reeked of neglect(whether intentional or not). Not many — maybe one other couple — people in for lunch during the day. Waitress didn’t speak much English, and seemed uninterested in helping us, or explaining the menu. But we pressed on, and ordered anyway. boneless chicken, one beef kabab, and one cornish hen. We also got Barley soup and a falafel. Strangely, no matter what she was bringing, the waitress brought everything to our table on a bar cart. Seriously. You wanted a Coke — the single can would be on the cart. A piece of bread? the same. Seriously weird. Perhaps the restaurant fears for a lawsuit, or the waitress is that fragile? Food was mediocre(at best). Chicken was OK, but the beef was extremely dry, and old. Cherry rice was excessively sweet, as if the cook had used canned cherries. Barley soup didn’t really taste of anything. a bit oily if anything. You can find better within a small radius here. Not worth it at any price I’m afraid. Pass.

We arrived at 7 pm. The only people in the restaurant. We left at 8:30. The only people in the restaurant. There is a reason why. Images of a TV show with Gordon Ramsey going through a food fridge finding old chicken, old everything. The Hummus tasted like it was a week old. The chicken — God only knows how old it was. Small flies buzzing our table. Probably the most disgusting meal I have had in the past five years. $ 75 for garbage. If I could go negative 10 I would.

This is one of the worst persian resturant I have ever been there. There is nobody here except one family and on couple and four of us and I asked them to bring us bread it took them almost 40min. The ash reshte that they have is one of the worst of as well as shish kabob and zereshk polo that I taste. It is the best resturant to be empty and I would never recommend it to anybody. The service is awful and slow that you really feel irritated.

I don’t even want to give this place a star if I have a choice. 10 years ago, I’ve eaten here and wasn’t impress but at the time the people at the time that was working here we’re nice so I don’t bother to make any complaints. 10 years later, I wanted to give this place another chance bc I see the valet parking was crazy busy on one weekend. Now, I’ve eaten a lot of Persian restaurant and food. Besides the fact that I’ve eaten a lot of Persian restaurants across the world including in Iran, I’m sorry to say I’m disappointed in this place. I, myself, cook better Persian food and I’m not even Persian. How can anyone make a mistake on their own national food, the Koobideh?. It’s like us messing up a Burger. What a joke. There was 2 size of portion serve in appetizer: small or large. The waiter did not bother to ask me but assumes I want the large besides charging me for it, but we’ve ordered several appetizers, which was a lot for 2 people. There was one appetizer, kashke bademjoon, we didn’t enjoy it; and asked to take it away. I even told the waiter it needed to stay in the oven longer for it to cook and stew, his comment is to reheated up in the microwave for me. I can’t believe this. Who would tell me this?! LOL. Normally, at other restaurants, they would take it off our bill but this waiter didn’t even bother deducting but questioned me why did I want it off my bill when I didn’t take more than a taste out of it. The only positive thing about this place is that they have an outdoor patio seating for my doggy. And perhaps there’s entertainment. Not sure bc we went on a weeknight. If I had a choice w the money I’m paying, I’d go eat the next door Indian restaurant, India’s Grill. I that Indian place way better!

Food was an hour late, my group was given a sloppy appetizer to keep us from complaining so much about it being late… Thanks I guess? We get our food and my order was wrong, 1st waiter apologizes but the 2nd waiter wants to argue with me about how I didn’t order what I ordered. Then less than 2 minutes of getting our food waiter puts a check down on the table. Uh-ooookay? Then five minutes go by and one of the waiters asks my cousin if she wants her food taken away… What the heck was that about? And then we find FOIL stuck on a piece of tahdig(fried rice.) Maybe she was trying to take that foil away? Hah. That was great. I posted a picture of that, so be sure to check that out. Questions for the owner: why did we have two waiters? Have you thought of training your staff? Have you ever considered that MAYBE the reason you have to resort to getting COUPONS for your restaurant is for crap like this that turn customers away? EDIT: someone else mentioned dirty utensils, that was true. Others have mentioned that the food wasn’t so good, that is also true. Persian food is itis food, not lets-just-go-somewhere-else-food.

I’ve have never dined at the restaurant so I can’t relate to the negative experiences other talk about. I did order for delivery today and I will be ordering again. The chicken kabob was tasty. Plenty of rice and veggies.

As a full blooded Iranian and a lover of Persian food, I’m quite disappointed with the quality of food this place is serving. I love to support my fellow Iranians, but not when the food and service I experienced is less than average. I ordered simple, yet popular dishes — Joojeh Kabab(chicken on the bone) and Soltani(1 skewer of Ground Beef and 1 Filet minion, marinated and skewered) and both were at best, average. You can imagine, I have eaten at most every Persian food establishment in the city of Los Angeles, as well as grew up on home cooked Iranian food. I know what’s good and what’s not. This, was not good. The Joojeh Kabab was way over cooked, soggy and had an over abundance of lemon added to the marinade. To their credit, the Kabob Koobideh was decent and worth it, but the Barg(Marinated Filet Minion meant) was dry and had no flavor. The Persian rice was OK and was not fluffy. My biggest quarrel with this place was their salad. Instead of ordering an additional portion of rice, I asked for salad with my chicken. My salad consisted of a couple tomatoes and a bunch of romaine lettuce. At most Persian restaurants, you will Persian Cucumbers on the salad. This had NONE. Please see the image I posted. I removed the tomatoes, so you could see how much lettuce there was. This is not a salad. This is lettuce. To their defense, their salad dressing was tasty. Last, but not least, the service here is horrible. My BF picked up our order and the lady at the counter was on the phone the entire time that he was picking up and paying for the order. If this is what we got from takeout, I can only imagine what the service would be like if we actually ate there. For the price that they are charging for their dishes, they really need to improve on the quality of their ingredients. Persian food is always served in big portions, so it’s understandable that they are charging higher, but not when the food quality is sacrificed. Sorry to say, I will not be dining at this place anymore.

Went to Shah Abbas with two friends and we all had great experience with Persian food. It was different and I always enjoy the adventure of trying new cuisine. The restaurant has a elegant looking sign outside, the only downside is it is located on the 2nd floor of an older bldg so the stairs to the restaurant didn’t look too appealing. It was nicely decorated inside. There was a party there, this place is certainly good for hosting events as it is a roomy restaurant. The menu is big and I liked the fact that there were many choices and I was not restricted to kabobs and could try the authentic Persian food. I had the bademjan stew with tomato, eggplant, garlic and saffron. served with lamb shank. there was not much meat which was great as I am not a big meat eater. The meat was tender and the dish was flavorful. My friend ordered fesenjoon: Walnuts stew cooked in pomegranate sauce served with chicken. According to the waitress, it takes hrs to prepare the sauce, I have a reason to go back to the restaurant so that I can try this dish. My other friend had Shish kabob and enjoyed it. The server who originally from Iran was very sweet and polite, she made our dining experience superb and unmatched. She also gave me the impression the Iranian people are very warm and pleasant. The music was a little bit too loud for conversations, nevertheless, i did enjoy listening to different kind of music.

They are lucky to get one star! Horrible service, our waiter was high and forgot what we ordered and was very weird. The food was below average. Iranian food is not suppose to taste like that! Horrbible — don’t go there. Go to Daryan…

Went here after the bazaar for some hookah. When we first asked if they had hookah they weren’t sure. The host asked a staff member which said of course they do and took us outside to the patio. They sat us down and gave us a hookah. I tried my hardest to get some smoke out of the hookah but nothing would come out. I asked if they could fix it and they said they weren’t sure. They asked me if I could fix it myself but they were trying to light the coals on the fire-pit. When i tried the hookah it hurt my throat and it hurt for a few days afterwards. Only upside is that they didn’t charge us and they seemed friendly enough.

If I had a chance to not even rate this a star I would. This place is appalling, disgusting, and traumatizing. The service was the most horrible thing I have experienced. First off, they wouldn’t t seat us outside because it was to warm. The glasses were dirty and the waitress, said no that is how the cups are, ¾ cups had lipstick stains and smudges. The water looked like toilet water, so warm. She brought out a «free salad» but on the menu it said it was part of our entrée. My daughter, a 10 month old baby dropped a tomato, the waitress came back and brought a vacuum to clean under our table, she didn’t want their disgusting once a different color but now filthy carpet to get dirty from a couple pieces of tomato. I asked her to leave and she could tend to floor sweeping after we leave, she mumbled something under her breath. Our food comes 45 minutes later, and at this point I am fuming and my husband was ready to walk out. The food came, it looked like someone chewed on it and spit it back up. It was cold, the meat smelled and looked discolored. We were hesitant to eat so we told the waiter this food looked like it was leftovers from the day before. She gave us attitude and said she will take us to the back and we can see the kitchen. She was trying to lead my husband into the kitchen. We got up and left. At the door, I assume it was the manager, was on the phone yelling at there driver that got a address wrong. She kept shooing us with her hand. After that we just left. The only thing I regret is not sticking around and giving that restaurant owner a piece of my mind. This place sucked real bad. I am not a fussy or picky customer but this experience was a experience from hell.

I was there a few months ago and I was so traumatized by the experience that I suppressed the memory, which came hurling back today when I searched Unilocal for a nearby restaurant and came across this listing. It’s very close to me, but I wouldn’t eat their food again even if they were cooking it in my kitchen. I went there because I had a coupon and because I love Persian food — or the Persian food in Westwood. Like others have written, the place was empty, which should have been our first clue. The server was lovely, but we lost the ability to hear her when the«entertainment» started a few minutes after we sat down. It was like having dinner at an off the Strip bar in Vegas — way off the Strip. Or attending a talent show in the disco-lit cafeteria of the High School for the Shouldn’t — Be — Performing Arts. The food was miserable. Bland, but not entirely tasteless, which was not a good thing: the taste of the food was equivalent to the taste of the singer. I think she was doing the Persian versions of the Macarena and Toad the Wet Sprocket’s Greatest Hits. We had a broad sampling of their food, mostly because we had to hit the $ 100 minimum required to use the certificate. Which the manager was pissed off about. I’m horrified that the memory of dinner at Shah Abbas has come back — hopefully after writing this review and reliving the experience, my mind will see fit to repress it again.
