Not to shabby for a spot we stumbled upon. I had the falafel pita special and friends had the chicken kabob. Taste wise wasn’t bad, but overall the seats were sticky and it just seemed dirty all around. Ugh. Ah least tables were cleaned. Also can’t forgive that there is no bathroom. Ick! Where am I supposed to wash my hands? In a shopping center with free parking, next to Wahoo’s. Oh, and they’re closed now. /whomp whomp

Was at the building next door and needed something to eat for lunch. The restaurant itself looks nice inside with friendly and super fast service. I ordered the shawarma salad and it was ready by the time I paid. The shawarma was pretty bad. Possibly the worst I’ve eaten. Opening the salad and seeing grease stains on the lid was pretty unappetizing. The shawarma was filled with turmeric. I’m a fan of turmeric but this was overdone. Overall pretty bland salad. I only gave them two stars because it was ready so fast and staff was very nice.

Just took a chicken shawarma home from Chapa and I am disgusted!!! I’m not sure any restaurant has given me food that Ive considered inedible. This was was the worst experience. So incredibly dry it was like it was sitting around for days. I can’t believe they would serve food like this. Maybe because it was the weekend and they were slow… But it should have never been given to a customer. I am feeling so sick right now. They really deserve a 1 rating but because I’ve had ok food there before I was being generous. 11 dollars something for that plate. They should give it back and pay me for the inconvenience.

I believe this is under a different name now, something with the word«pita» in the name. The food was great, one of the best falafel I have had. But the service was even better! The man I can only assume is the owner was so passionate and friendly. So much so, that I wanted to make sure everyone knows about it!

They just lost a customer. I don’t know if there’s a new manager or they just decided to change things up, but the chicken shawarma plate used to be a good deal. Reasons of what change that are not great: –There’s no more salad! Why? The shawarma needs some fresh cold veggies. It’s just better with it. –they’re pita bread used to come in 2. Now it’s just 1. I don’t think having one pita bread that is oddly«fat» is a good enough excuse. –the price went up for a downgrade… So no more«Cheap-a» for me, or until things are better, thanks

Wow, people giving this place 4⁄5 or 5⁄5 stars? really? Well, i guess the same people that give this place 4⁄5 or 5⁄5 like really really greasy, tasteless food. First of all, the service is ok. I mean, I get my food as ordered… but like 15 minutes after the fact? And for some odd reason it always seems there’s a new chief in the back. Place is a hit or miss. Sometimes they have their shit together. and sometimes it looks like two maltese in a paper burlap sack trying to find the exit. Everytime i eat, at this joint, i come way feeling like my throat was coated in humus grease and porcupine quills, which literally would take me 2 liters of water(spread out over 4 hours) to get the after taste out of my mouth. Secondly, why are most of the chairs and tables really greasy? oh yeah, the greasy tables must come from the food dripping oozey grease and the greasy seats must come from the grease oozey out of someone’s butthole.

Very good food, I especially like the chicken shawarma pita, enough for two servings too! Customer service could use some improvement though

I had a really disappointing lunch here yesterday. Will be hard pressed to get me back here again. It was 90+ yesterday in Los Angeles. Chapa Grill was our destination. They were dead and it was obvious the lack of air conditioning was a major contributing factor. So we looked for the seats inside that would provide the coolest temperature. After sitting down I realized all the tables were sticky as were the seats. Someone clearly needs to scrub down this place. I ordered a falafel plate which came with two sides. I opted for the hummus and the baba ganough. My friend opted for the shawarma salad. We were provided some cheap forks/knives as another Unilocaler noted. However, cheap silverware and a tad of stickiness I can tolerate. What I struggle with is mediocre food. The falafel balls were too firm and nothing to write home about. In an Israeli neighborhood great falafel should be standard; however, here something went amiss. The rice was good as was the hummus and baba ganough. There was no bread included? Maybe I needed to ask for it. Last time I ate here there was a salad as well? My lunch here was disappointing. My friend whom had the shawarma salad agreed. This place is very close to my home so I wanted it to be better. But yesterday it had issues enough to keep me away.

This place won’t honor Unilocal’s free soft drink with purchase bc the promotion belonged to the previous owners. Or so they say. I opted for the beef shishkabob in a wrap. It’s not bad… But not great in the least. The wrap itself is quite doughy and no one likes doughy. The pieces of beef are quite large so you get a mouthful and chew for 5 minutes and then get a couple of bites with no meat whatsoever. The flavor of the sauce isn’t quite tsaziki as it’s more a thousand island color than the white color were used to. Also, where’s the authentic hot sauce? There’s ketchup and tapatio at the table.

Chapa Grill continues to go from strength to strength after perhaps a less than stellar opening years ago. I’ve been eating there intermittently since their opening. The side orders(broccoli, for example) still remain a bit overcooked(sitting in a steam table can’t help) and the rotisserie chicken is still nothing to brag about and prices continue to seem a little high. Yet still this is a 5 star review. 5 stars for things such as their Chapa Salad(shawarma), Jerusalem mix(beef, lamb, chicken), Chicken Salad(a new item for $ 9.99 that is almost big enough for 2 people with delicious marinated chicken) and juicy delicious beef kabob(pricey but oh so good). Want just hummus and shawarma? They have that on the menu too and it is good. I haven’t tried their Tilapia and I really wish they had more Lamb on the menu(the shawarma is made out of beef, so the only thing I see is the Jerusalem mix).

I’ve driven by Chapa Grill hundreds of times and have wanted to try it out for awhile. I finally stopped by for lunch today. It was pretty crowded around 12:30pm. I ordered the rotisserie chicken plate with hummus(which also came with rice and pita bread). The food was okayyy. The chicken was moist, but kind of bland. The hummus was not that good. I usually love hummus but I didn’t like it here that much. They also forgot to give me my pita bread, so I had to ask for it. Overall, a mediocre restaurant with mediocre food.

For about $ 12, I got a falafel plate with two sides, rice, and pita along with a medium soft drink. If the meal had cost $ 5 – 7, I may have given them an extra star, but for the price, the food was not good enough. The falafel was dry, and the rice, mashed potatoes, and broccoli lacked seasoning. Everything was average at best.

What a disappointment. It’s not worth going to this place anymore. I used to go to this place as it’s right next to a client’s office. I’ve been away for a couple of months, and during that time ownership has changed, as has the quality. At the same time, prices have increased. 1) It’s NOLONGERKOSHER. This is not a big deal to me, but likely is to many others in the neighborhood. 2) Food portions have decreased across the board. Lunch plates used to be delivered with two large sides. Now, smaller main dish portions(often consisting of paper-thin meat) are served on a bed of rice(apparently to disguise the smaller portions), and two small sides accompany it. 3)The quality has also decreased. It seems that with the change of Kosher status, the new owners have decided it’s OK to use more and more canned or pre-prepped and reheated items, particularly some of the veggie offerings. Pita bread — when they bother to deliver it – is served cold and somewhat stale. Previous owners generally couldn’t be bothered to warm it up either, but at least it was fresh. Anything fried, especially the felafel, is now a disaster. Anybody who has sampled felafel around the world(I have) has figured out that one of the true secrets is very hot, very fresh oil to fry it in. Go to any high volume felafel place in the mid-east(or even in London) and you’ll see them changing out the oil a couple of times a day! When done right, the balls emerge golden colored, hot and crisp. When cooked in oil that’s too old or not hot enough or both, they emerge soggy and brown. In the past they were done right. These days they’re solidly into the soggy and brown category. 4) They seem to have a serious lack of concern for delivering what is promised. Even when the menu clearly states that Pita bread is served with the meal, they seem to never deliver it. Ask for it and it will be grudgingly delivered to you, as if it were an option. If it’s no longer part of the meal, please remove it from the menu. Don’t promise it and then act like you’re doing me a favor for delivering what your menu board says is included. 5) Metal utensils and sturdy plates replaced with the cheapest possible, barely adequate paper and plastic. 6) Service was never great. I suspect the previous owner had to sell because as nice a guy as he was, he had no clue how to run a restaurant. Unbelievably the current operators are even worse. Stuff is delivered to the table at random times even when you ordered together. Stuff that is advertised on the menu is described by the staff as being«on request.» Orders are taken and not delivered. Orders are filled wrong. Staff are language-challenged and don’t seem to understand what you’re asking for half the time. In short, they act like they’re doing you a favor for serving you overpriced, poorly-prepared food. 7) From day one, this place has had a variety of stickers and posters advertising free wifi. I have never known it to exist. Not under the previous owners and not under the current ones. A question about this led to a dismissive reply from the guy who seems to be the manager/owner. Why don’t you just remove those logos rather than continuing with the misleading advertising. There are plenty of middle-eastern, Israeli, Lebanese and other similar places around town where you can get this kind of food. Chapa used to be an OK option if you happened to be in the neighborhood. These days it isn’t worth crossing the street for.

A solid 3.5 stars for this place. Came in for a quick to-go lunch and was pleasantly happy with my order. It is an order and pay first then receive your meal later type of deal. They prepare the food in the front area next to the cashier, so you can actually watch if you like, They fairly have a simple menu, but I wanted to order everything. I was really eyeing the Chicken Shawarma from the menu, but definitely did not need an ultra filling lunch. So I opted for the Sabich pita. It is a delicious pita sandwich filled with hummus, juicy eggplant, chopped cucumbers, chopped tomatoes, parsley and egg. Lotssss of eggs, actually. I figured the bottom portion of the sandwich will have less of it, but nope, every bite will have some egg in it! No biggie for me, I like egg! Mo’ protein! Service was great. They kept on reassuring my food will be ready, but I didn’t have to wait long in the first place =).

So I’m allergic to cucumber, and I ordered a falafel pita sandwich, which comes with a salad. 1. The sandwich is supposed to be dressed with hummus, of which there was far too little. 2. The solution for eliminating cukes was to eliminate the salad. Here’s a real question: should I have to pay the same for not getting a side salad? I thought about it later. You order at the counter, get a number, and they bring it to you, which is fine. The food is flavorful, cashier and servers are competent, decent prices, varied options, and the food comes out fast, which is a good thing, because this place FILLS up for lunch. Not sure why there aren’t higher ratings. Four stars seems pretty solid …

I’d just like to start with walking long distances in the heat is no fun. Unfortunately this place is just an open door restaurant and I felt REALLY bad for the guy behind the counter because of the meat-warmer thing right behind him, sending waves of heat through the air. I actually think my lead wallet melted. Anyways, the wife and I popped in here to grab some shawarma and hummus for lunch and we were not disappointed. I was a little alarmed at the prices — $ 6 for a plate of hummus and one piece of bread and $ 12 for the shawarma but to be fair, the shawarma was huge… and the hummus plate may have been expensive but it was delicious. I like this place for sure — plus there are always a ton of interesting people int and out. A good lively place for lunch!

Wow! Great food for a good price. I have yet to try something from them I did not like. The owner has always been friendly and very accommodating. He cares about customer service and keeping a good image to go along with the great food! Get the hummus plate!
