They were so nice and fast here, which was great since I brought my daughter who is young and won’t sit still for very long! Food was great too!

If I could do zero stars, I would for this visit. Sad. This place is supposed to be «quality» food. Well, back in the day it was. It’s ashame that my hubby and I had to experience this. The food was not cooked well and the coffee was nasty. Also, the small orange juice I ordered was super small… It was as tall as two syrup cups, when placed on top of each other. However the or age juice glass was super narrow! Very sad. The waitress seemed non caring. Did not agree when I showed her the pancakes were not cooked well«both times»… Yes, they brought two orders and each time was awful… The manager finally came out and she listened however I will say, she did do what I asked her to do which was to show the cook so it wouldn’t happened to anyone else! Shout out to the cooks.“SLOWDOWNANDCOOKQUALITY” this place get tons of business and they are serving this kind of food… Wow! Smh won’t be coming back…(also the pies have shrunk. For $ 12.00).

Its been many years since I’ve been to this little restaurant. Its so cute. It makes me feel like I’m in Solvang. They have a cute little patio, thats just beautiful to sit at on a sunny day. My husband and I decided to stop here for breakfast this morning around 10am. It was not terribly busy, its a Tuesday morning. The bakery is right when you go through the front door. SOOOOOO many yummy, yummy baked goods just waiting for you to stuff your face with!!! We were greeted as soon as we entered. We asked for a booth, and were quickly escorted to a table overlooking the patio. Lorena was our waitress. She was super nice, and quick. We ordered the granola french toast, and my husband got the fajita omelet. Both dishes were delicious, but not extraordinary. The portion on my french toast was huge!!! My husbands omelet was a good size as well. Neither of us finished, so we took the rest to go! The atmosphere is wonderful… the service is friendly. The food is OK. I think the prices for some of the dishes are a little up there… but perhaps they are worth it. We would visit again. Give Hof’s Hut a try. Definitely try their muffins. Any of them, they area delicious!!!

Breakfast has taken a dive here. Food servers let«hot meal» sit there under heat lamp getting cold! Cinnamon French Toast very dry no matter how much butter or syrup I poured on. This, is my mind and experience marks the downward spiral of a once good eatery? Sad.

After my 33rd visit or so I have to give Hofs a review. This place is always consistent, always clean and the service is always great. We frequent the Los Alamitos branch and it’s great. I used to coach at a local college and after home basketball games we would conjure at Hofs on Orangethorpe before it turned into a black bear diner. Even then and even at that location the experience was a great as any other Hofs location we visited. Great breakfast, The fish and chips are great as is the chicken fried steak… the milk shakes are solid too. I am not a fan of their burgers though. If you are around a Hofs and wanted sow thing tasty go check it out.

The food here has gone down hill since the last time I ate here several years ago. I normally don’t eat here but some friends wanted to go so I went. What a disappointment. I ordered the French Dip Sandwich and the sandwich was okay but the French Fries and Onion Rings were terrible. My friend said his Onion Rings were terrible too. They tasted like they were cooked hours before and heated back up. It wasn’t like we were there late at night. Not that food should suck late at night. This was around noon on a Sunday, prime time when you would think everything would be fresh. The service was okay but we did have to flag down the waitress a couple times to get more water. There are so many other restaurants in the area to choose from. Do yourself a favor and avoid this one.

This place is your classic American diner, but with a greater variety and better quality food. The food is very consistent in taste. I usually come here for breakfast with my family. Service: The staff is always friendly. The minute you walk in you’re greeted with a smile and attended right away. The wait can vary depending on the hour and day you come. The waiters are usually very attentive, but we have gotten some waiters who rarely come by our table and when we need something we have to wait a while, it’s very rare though. Atmosphere: The restaurant is very clean and it smells of coffee. There are mostly elderly people and families coming here to eat. It has a very familial vibe and is great for bringing your family here. It’s not noisy here but also not quiet. Food: Like I mentioned earlier the food is always a consistent taste. If you order a burger the first time and come back a month later it’ll taste exactly the same. I’ve tried a fair share of the breakfast foods and they’re always good. The breakfast quesadilla is my favorite. Out of the dinner food is recommend the chicken Alfredo pasta with their garlic bread. Their garlic bread is heavenly! For desert, the cheesecake is the best I’ve ever had and I cannot leave this place without a piece of cheesecake. I totally recommend this place for a nice day out with the family.

I’ve been to other Hof’s Huts before but it’s been a while. Took the family to try this location and was looking forward to seeing their menu — Little did I know, that was about all we’d see. We were seated pretty quickly, which was a plus. We’ve never been to this location and as we were led through the restaurant towards the back, I was surprised to see how much seating this restaurant has. Pretty nice décor, but a bit dark for my taste as lighting was pretty low. It was pretty crowded so I was happy to get seated. We were given menus so we started to look over our choices. This is where things turned for the worse. No server asked to take our drink order… not even after 10 minutes of waiting. Not one employee came to our table to ask us how we were doing or offer any type of service. There were lots of servers and busboys around, too. They just happened to be at other tables or standing next to the beverage station, chatting among themselves. I tried to get there attention to no avail. All four of us looked around to see if any worker looked our way and nothing… still no one. After 15 minutes of waiting, I sought out a busboy to ask for our waiter/waitress(I don’t know if it was a guy or gal since no one came by to let us know who it would be) and he said he’d get help. Another 5 minutes… nothing! I finally went to the hostess at the entrance and told her of our situation and the manager happened to be there so she apologized and assured me we’d get our orders in ASAP. By this time, we realized we couldn’t wait any longer and we would just leave. It would take too long to get our food and we had to be somewhere. It actually felt like we were being discriminated against. After reading some other reviewers complain about the wait, this location needs to make some changes. Too bad we won’t be back to find out.

Going to Hof’s is always a pleasant time. Whatever they do, they do well, their bakery goods and any of their entrees are always good quality. Hamburgers are awesome as well as sandwiches, breakfast you can’t beat, onion rings to die for, so the place is a constant winner in my book. I’ve been going there for over 50 years.

Had breakfast here at 7am on a Saturday morning. the restaurant was quiet. Only 2 other tables in the place. SERVICE : Sonia was my Server and she was excellent! Very intuitive/attentive service. She poured the coffee for me when the cup was half full and gave me extra napkins. When I asked about the French toast she was informative. I thought she was lovely. FOOD: Meh. The French toast was delicious! Two thick slices that were crispy just as described on the menu. I ordered my eggs over medium and they were more like over easy. I like a runny yolk but I don’t like when the egg white is runny too. I’ve heard eggs are the hardest thing to cook. I didn’t eat my eggs. I didn’t send them back because I work in the Service Industry. I never send food back. I made the mistake of ordering my bacon crispy. It was super hard! Like brittle petrified bacon. Think bacon bits that you buy at the store but in strips. I did appreciate that I got 4 strips with the combo. I ate the bacon even though I didn’t care for the texture because, well. it’s BACON! Even when bacon is bad, it’s still good. I love bacon. I will definitely return and make adjustments accordingly to my order next time. TIP: The weekend breakfast rush begins at 8am!

Service was okay. I chose Steakhouse Burger which was sadly a horrible burger. Buns, tomatoes or could say everything inside was not fresh. Adding to this, awful taste of very«oily» onion straws with A1 sauce. Needs improvement while this burger is under«Gourmet Burger» menu.

I reviewed this place about 18 months ago and didn’t like it. They sent me a gift card to return and try again, so we did. Thanks to the management, that was a nice gesture. The service was much better, but the food still left something to be desired. My GF had the tuna melt which was okay but very thick. So she could only eat half and To-Go boxed the second half. She noted that the french fries were very poor. This time I had the Sliders under the Burger Menu, they were small and the onion rings were very big. Now perhaps I just prefer an onion ring that is much smaller, and holds together… But the size of the ring must make it difficult to keep a breading on it. These just fell apart and were equally as tasteless. Just like last time. On the sliders, I asked for the Thousand Island dressing on the side and got an extra helping before the plate arrived, so Great service. But the slider buns are square and its perhaps just another perception on my part, but the patty should be the same shape as the bun. They weren’t. Jus’ looked like they were chopped up from a larger pattie and served up on the smaller buns. I just don’t get it; «if it doesn’t fit, just quit.» Made it past fifty without getting fat, because we steer away from dessert. Same thing this time, so I can’t say anything about the pies(which look great on the way in). But this place just is not for me. I noticed who was seated as we entered, and who was there when we left. The clientele got considerably more overweight the later it gets. But that’s to be expected because people who overeat, too late in the day, tend to be heavier. So if you want an American heavy food menu, this place is a fairly nice place to eat, not too noisy, but nuthin to write home about. Not recommended. Tricked me twice, shame on me.

UPDATE05÷18÷15− I have raised my review stars from 2 to 3. I was contacted by Brad Hofman regarding my review, something that rarely happens today. I’m glad that the better companies out there are following ratings, and that they are passionate about making the necessary adjustments toward a better customer service experience. After all, that is what keeps the doors open and people employed and patrons satisfied. Having successfully been through 20 years of my own business, I recognize and admire efforts I personally would have taken. Again, this particular review is based on the quality of food, NOT the level of customer service, at this location. There is a difference! Thank you, Brad! ________________________________________________________ I really wish I could offer more stars than two, but my honesty prohibits me from doing so. The quality of food used to be better at this location. Tonight’s Yankee Pot Roast was horrible, as if it was Stouffer’s or something. Not even, let’s try Swanson’s. There were exactly three pieces of lean roast that were discernibly pot roast; the rest of the meat was almost like chunks of cube steak, and this is no exaggeration. The mashed potatoes were lukewarm, as was the creamed corn… but the corn kernels were crisp which was different from past creamed corn sides I’ve had. Strange. Tonite was the second time I’ve attempted to put Hof’s back on my frequent list this year… and I regret to report that simply will no longer be patronizing them any longer. Its a shame, because there are very few places left that serve up good americana comfort food. I have never experienced poor service here, at all, throughout the years. For this reason, I offer two stars. Parking is still a bit problematic, but not as bad as during the day when other adjoining businesses are in full swing. My apologies, Hof’s… but I’d rather keep all the good memories I have of your great food and service from 2012 and before. Mahalos, for the good memories.

When it comes to food and atmosphere this place is your average one step up from a diner, good olé american chain restaurant. However, this particular location has very very very nice staff! They are so nice that even when I walk in 10 min before closing(I know, I’m horrible) with a group of 6 – 10(I know, it’s just getting worse) and we want to actually sit down and eat not just takeout(okay, we have occasionally been the customers from hell) and then order dessert 30 min after closing(the waitress should have slapped us) I am so pleased to report that not only did they serve us, they gave us AMAZING service. And we’ve done this one multiple occasions(yep, I’m officially on the restaurant naughty list this year). So even though this place would normally receive a 3, they get an extra star for exceptional service. To management: give the tues/thurs closing staff a gold star.

I haven’t been here for a while and I think I know why. The food was so so for breakfast. I have definitely had better as far as healthy omelets go. The vegetables were fresh, but they were drowning in melted cheddar cheese. Not exactly what I consider healthy myself, but I survived. The hash brown I got which I thought were going to be «Those potatoes», were soggy on the inside and slightly burned on the outside. Needless to say, after a few bites I left them alone. The only thing healthy about my breakfast was the side of fruit I ordered. The price was reasonable but given the quality, I definitely got what I paid for.

We gave Hofs Hut another visit in another location. The food was excellent but we were seated across from the kitchen. The loud comments in spanish by the chef’s(they had 4) in the kitchen were not pleasant to listen to. Especially for someone who understands the language. The server and other staff were pleasent and did a fair job, she did offer us cut fruit instead of bread as a side which was refreshing. We both had the Chicken Walnut Salad which is very good. The Hofs Hut that seems to be the best so far has been in Torrance as far as décor, and food. All of the servers in all locations seem very aloof and not involved with the serving process.

BIRTHDAYMONTH=BIRTHDAYCOUPONS=HAPPYRODNEY BOGO breakfast/lunch/or dinner entrée Hof’s Hut in Los Alamitos is a surprisingly large restaurant, with the dining area almost being in an L-shape. Not one to let a good coupon go to waste, Hof’s seemed like just what was in store for dinner. Bread was included with our entrees, of which we chose garlic. Can’t go wrong with garlic anything! Bread was thick, crusty & had the delicious garlic butter slathered on top. I only had a few nibbles here & there, seeing how I try to limit/avoid bread, but it was good. No lies from me. Wild caught Cajun-Jerk salmon, w/loaded potatoes & rice pilaf While smaller than I was expecting, the Cajun-Jerk salmon was oily & flaky. I would’ve preferred a more assertive Cajun-Jerk seasoning to it, but I was happy with my plate. The loaded potatoes w/bacon, cheese & green onions were hearty & the rice pilaf had a remarkable flavor to it. Double porkchops A double-down of tender porkchops, on top of cinnamon apple almond stuffing & steamed veggies. The porkchops were a winner, this coming from a lover of all things pork. Enough to feed even big appetites. The cinnamon apple almond stuffing was fluffy & had a delightful sweetness to it. The steamed veggies made the meal«healthier». Time for the birthday boy to have his cake! With a choice of chocolate or carrot, the celebrant & carrot cake connoisseur went with the latter. Very sweet, very rich with the icing & sprinkles, the carrot cake was pretty good. I’m slowly whittling away at it, being kept in the fridge with a bite or 2 each day, because I’d feel so bad if I were to inhale it in 1 go. Nice ending to a great meal. Service was good. We weren’t wanting in anything. The booths where we sat, near the restroom, were comfy. Parking is in a private lot, shared by a few businesses. The front parking may be occupied, but there are spaces available in and around the center. Hof’s Hut, thanks again for another year of birthday BOGO freebies! I enjoy dining at your restaurant & hope for continued good business for you. Considering you’ve been around for so many years, you’re a reliable spot that I can count on when I dine out. Highly recommend! NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM

HUF’S HUT saves the day! I used to eat here a lot back in the day but like most chains I lose interest, the food changes, cook changes, I find something more appealing or interesting to eat. Not sure what happened but I don’t come here anymore for one reason or another. So it’s Saturday night and I’m hanging out with GOTEB and we decided we want dessert. I want to try something new and GOTEB wants the same olé thing, no surprise, no guessing what it is going to taste like, just the old standby. I swear she folded her arms, squeezed her eyes shut, stamped her feet and then held her breath until I gave in! What a brat! I should have just let her turn blue, pass out, drag her to the car and then did what I wanted. Instead I compromised like an adult and took her here to pick up her dessert and then went to get what I wanted somewhere else. GOTEB was dead set on strawberry pie being that strawberries are in season. I hop out the car since I was treating and go in to get her individual pie which is really big enough for 2 people. They were out! Hip, hip, hooray! All they had was banana cream pie with strawberries on top. I went back to the car and told her secretly hoping she would just say, ok I’ll get something from the place you’re going to, but NOOOOO she sent my butt back in for classic apple pie and ice cream. Of course they had it so I had them heat up the pie and put the ice cream into a separate container so it would NOT all melt together in case she didn’t want to eat it all. She LOVED it! The ice cream was French Vanilla her fav and she savored every moment. Before I know it she had gobbled it all down on our way to pick up my dessert. SCORE! GOTEB was a happy camper no more tantrums! I swear I feed her so much she is more like my child than a FRICKINFRIEND! Anyway the service was GREAT! The gentlemen that helped me was SUPERPATIENT as I schlepped back and forth to the car to see what GOTEB wanted like the hired help! While I was waiting for my order another service person asked if I needed anything and I told them I was already being helped. It was REALLYNICE that I WASNOTIGNORED! From what I can recall SERVICEHASALWAYSBEENGREATHERE! I will most likely be back if GOTEB has her way again. Rope and a muzzle may be her next birthday gift! lololololol!

My friends B-day just passed, she’s on Hof’s Birthday list and got a post card for a buy-one-get-one deal. She wanted to go out for breakfast /brunch and we decided to go to this Los Alamitos location as I’ve never been. SERVICE: It was bit busy that day, so we had a 20 minute wait for a table after putting our name on the list. Once ready we were taken all the way to the back of the restaurant, wow this place is bigger than I thought! Our server Candi was awesome! Friendly, helpful, checked on us quite often and wished my friend Happy B-D too! FOOD: Pops went for the Denver Omelette($ 9.49): and a banana nut muffin: Pops would make a lousy Unilocaler because his answer is always the same when I ask how his meal was: «Good». I decided on Eggs Benedict and added spinach($ 10.39 + $ 1.59) : Yes I know I could have ordered«Benedict Florentine» but I also wanted the ham. Hof’s makes a really good benedict too! The hollandaise sauce is SOGOOD compared many others I’ve had! 4.5 stars. I also ordered a yummy Honey Bran muffin too($ 2.59): Quite good as always. The B-day girl wanted Fish & Chips($ 12.49): She REALLY enjoyed them and after having a taste I have to say I’ll have to order this next time, it was VERY tasty! We also got a special freebie dessert for the B-day girl, a carrot bundt cake! Just out of the fridge so it was cold, but tasty even though the icing was too sweet. OVERALL: Another good meal at a good restaurant with consistently good food and service.
