When you step out of the car you are greeted with delightful smells of hickory smoke. The ambience inside just as inviting. Beer selection is on par with most establishments, specialty cocktails are limited as is their wine selection. I had the sausage and burnt end combo, while the other in my party had the grilled chicken dinner. The sausage was top notch, but that was it, burnt ends were a huge miss, completely dry and tough, my jaw is tired from chewing as i type this. The grilled chicken breast was the cut up peices of dry chicken, lettuce, tomato, 2 peices of white bread and a choice of side. Service was top notch and is really the only thing keeping this review from being 1 star. Management did seemed offended when we didnt like the chicken dinner but did eventually take the chicken dinner off the tab.

Really like this place for more than one reason. First off, the place is just cool. I love the atmosphere and décor. It’s nicely done and has that dark but elegant steakhouse feel to it. The BBQ is fantastic and there are so many menu options. Our family is partial to burnt ends and pulled pork. We’ve never been disappointed here. Lots of yummy, interesting sides besides your the usual beans and fries. So bring your pickiest eater here. I had the spinach salad which was not the norm for a BBQ joint and was an absolutely delicious surprise. It had that fu-fu salad feel that again, you never get at a BBQ place and I really appreciated the option. Door and wait staff was ever present and very friendly. Bathrooms are even cool here! Definitely will be back and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to our friends.

Visiting the area and I’m certainly not a BBQ expert however I know it tasted led amazing. The only downfall was the beer option. No IPA’s on tap and only 1 by bottle and the waitress said she didn’t recommend it. Overall a good spot, I would go back.

This place used to be a decent substitute for the great BBQ places in KC. Now it’s fallen to a level where I wouldn’t recommend it even in a pinch. The last time I went the meat was dry and had no flavor. It’s too bad because places like pork n pit in Lees Summit went under so it’s basically down to one good BBQ joint in one of KC’s largest suburbs. The only reason this place gets two stars instead of one is the beans are decent.

Hickory Pit is close to my parents house and one of their favorites. So if I am visiting and they have a hankering for BBQ that is their go-to. I toiled around a bit with their different options every time I went there never finding anything that set my world on fire except for their baked beans, seriously try those if you haven’t! One magical day, I remember it was a Wednesday, the birds were chirping and the sun was shining, a un-seasonably warm Missouri day in February. I walked into Summit Hickory Pit, sat down, browsed the menu, and I thought to myself: «I think I will try this Reuben Sandwich, it has smoked corned beef, how unique.» My life changed… I have NEVER had a Reuben sandwich as good as the one they expertly craft in the kitchen of one, Summit Hickory Pit! The smoked corned beef sets it apart from any normal Reuben sandwich you could get anywhere else! It is now the only thing I order because I refuse to be that close to heaven and order something else, try it if you are a Reuben fan. The only reason this didn’t get a 5-star review is because one of the traditional BBQ staples, the burnt ends, are not great. Not bad, not great, I prefer other places burnt ends compared to Hickory Pit’s.

I love love love the«Pit», the Summit Hickory Pit is just the best place to eat in Lee’s Summit. No only do they have great food, but really they are the nicest group of people from the owners to the servers, I am always thrilled with my service. This is what«home town» means. I also love that they change up things and add new dishes try out. I love that they have really cool and fun cocktails on the menu, Cowboy cooler yeaaa! The little shopping area is awesome also, I have found the greatest hats there ever!!!

Hit or miss, but what they do right is consistent. KC peeps are as passionate about their BBQ as they are about their sports teams. Everyone has a favorite. I’m a Gates girl. My husband loves Jack Stack. I have relatives who won’t got anywhere but Bryant’s. However ~ this place is 5 min from our house and we have popped in several times. Pros: Service is great. Friendly, attentive staff Smoked turkey is delicious! I never order turkey at most BBQ spots, but this place does an amazing job! Also their fries and corn nuggets(sound dumb, but perfect with BBQ) are really delicious. Desserts: I don’t care much about dessert, but my kids do and they always have something yummy and homemade ready to order. Sandwich combos are fairly priced and make a great fast lunch. Cons: Sausage, brisket and burnt ends are sub par. This just isn’t what they do best. That’s ok. Often the meat tastes oversmoked.

As recent transplants, we were eager to try KC barbecue and compare it to our native Texas fare. So with our two small boys in tow, we ventured out to try Summit. I was happy to discover that they did have a kids’ menu, and it had more than just your basic chicken nuggets. I would’ve liked to see this on their website before we visited, but it was a pleasant surprise since we have one picky eater. Our waiter was friendly and efficient, but new which meant we had to navigate the menu on our own. That’s fine. We chose one of the combos for two so we could sample a variety of meats. We were told that it comes with sauce on it, and we figured we would do as the Romans do. The ham and pork were very thinly sliced … seemed kind of odd to me, but all had good flavor, and the sauce was tasty. The ribs were tender and good, but since I’m not a rib person, that’s all I can say. My only regret is that we didn’t try the sausage. Maybe next time …

Too few customers at lunch made me suspicious, but my husband wanted barbeque and Unilocal had a couple of good reviews on this place. We ordered the burnt ends and sausage platter from the lunch menu, with sauce on the side. I like to try bbq sauce my way, not with the meat swimming in it. A thumbs up for the sauce, by the way. The meat portion looked small, but turned out to be enough, with sides of coleslaw, fries, pickles and bread. The meat had good taste. We always have a following when we dine out, and more customers were coming in when we left. I had checked in on another social media site and noticed some friends had eaten here. Great minds… Always pleased when we are served by a polite, friendly young man. Didn’t get his name, but… good job. We need to try the ribs.

Great BBQ and great people! I usually get the pulled pork or the French dip-both are excellent. Husband gets wings, burnt ends, sausage typically and loves it all. Fast, friendly, and delicious! What more can you ask for!

Still fantastic food and prices remain the same. Can’t beat that. I have joined their dining club and have already had a free lunch. You also get one on your birthday. Very glad they are in Lee’s Summit, MO :-)

My wife and I have gone here twice now and love it. You have to try there fried sweet corn nuggets, they are fantastic. Yesterday we had lunch here, I got there baby back rib luncheon plate and she for there puller pork backed patato. The ribs have a dry rub and then they cover with sause. Just the right amount to make them messy but not cover the smoky flavor of the meat, came with fries and beans, I really liked them a lot. My wife’s patato was crazzy, almost a 1 lbs patato covered with pulled pork and baked beans. Finished off lunch with a slice of pineapple upside down cake. We will defiantly be back again.

My Spinach Salad with Salmon was delicious. The company I shared the meal with made it better. The extra large tables makes this a great place to meet friends.

In order to justify this review one does not eat at the restaurant to understand why it is not a BBQ restaurant. Look at the parking lot at this place and restaurants in the area. Guarantee it always looks empty. Burnt ends were like rubber shock absorbers. Brisket was dry. I can make BBQ better than this and have only tried a couple of times.

Good service, fine food overall. The Burnt Ends were a bit on the dry side, but sausage was tasty, and the sauce was Kansas City Excellent quality.(It helped that the company was really good as well.) The potato and cheese casserole was a nice break from french fries.

Exhibition in «The Kansas City BBQ Tour.» This place serves their sauce warm which is a nice change. The«hot» is not really hot but has more flavor then the mild. The meat was great but they could have filled the sandwich more. The fries were not very crisp but still had great taste. They received a 91%.

Awful. Shared a platter with my wife. Had ribs, chicken, brisket, beans, fries and bread. We requested the meat dry with sauce on the side. The meat was dry alright. Bone dry. I’m guessing it was all leftovers from the dinner service the night before and just thrown into a microwave. I’ve never had bbq this bad before. The slaw was mediocre. Beans were loaded with sugar. Holy cow. The fries? Half of them weren’t cooked through. How do you mess up fries?! So disappointed. Our server was really nice, so that was a plus. The food ruined the visit though. I guess I learned my lesson. Next time we’re in town we’ll stick to Joes or JackStack.

Place was clean, staff was friendly and efficient. Had high expectations after reading the reviews, but the food was not that good. Maybe it was good when it was first sliced or pulled, but BBQ just doesn’t age well when if it’s cut in advance and reheated via a microwave. Asked for sauce on the side, but my two meat combo(burnt ends & pulled pork) came out covered in sauce. Guess they were trying to cover up the dryness of the meat. I won’t be back.
