The food was bland and waaaaaay overpriced. The service however was excellent. For lunch, we had 2 small beers, 2 teas, Bratwurst, spicy sausage, schnitzel burger and a schnitzel plate. The total came to ~$ 75 for not much food at lunch. Eh.

This is my second time at King Ludwig in Leavenworth! You need to try their PORKHOCK! Part of the skin is so crispy that makes the meat so tasty. The portion is big so be prepared to share it with a family member or friend. We ordered the combo with pork hock and sausages. The sausage on its own is pricey so the combo is a better deal. I don’t like the cabbage too sour for my taste. I would not want to eat pork hock every day but it definitely worth to try. We went during Thanksgiving weekend. It was quite crowded in Leavenworth because of the lighting festival. We started dinner early around 5:00pm so there wasn’t a long line. We noticed the line started piling up around 6:30pm. Outside was so cold that evening so we were glad that we got in early to enjoy the dinner. There was a live band in the dining room that was a bonus entertainment. All in all I think I will go back the next time I visit Leavenworth and will also recommend this place to my friends.

We had a late lunch here on New Year’s Eve yesterday. The restaurant had quite a few empty tables, but we still had to wait a while(10 min or so) to be seated after being briefly acknowledged when we came in. Our server wasn’t very attentive. It was not busy at the time. After taking our order and delivering the food, she checked on us once. Refills for drinks were never offered. We had to ask someone else for the check because we never saw her again after that brief check in. The food itself tasted alright, but a few hours later 2 out of the 3 of us got violently ill.

This place is well equipped to handle a large party. The food, unfortunately, left much to be desired! Portion sizes were good, but the food was bland, the schnitzle was properly cooked but bland, and the spaetzle was overcooked and bland.

It’s not great, but there’s never any wait time for a seat. Those two might be directly correlated. We tried Mozarts and Andrea Keller but both places were saying over an hour for two people and we didn’t have much time. We came here and ordered the Bavarian ham hock and a sausage. The sausage was WAY too expensive for $ 7. Like, embarrassingly expensive. The ham hock came with red cabbage that was cooked a little too long, kraut, and potato salad. Everything needed some more seasoning, especially the ham. The ham was well roasted and fairly tender, but there were parts that were difficult to chew. The meat is REALLY fatty, so if you are watching your weight then definitely avoid this. Props for the service, everybody was very helpful.

Tried this based on Unilocal reviews. Ordered the ham hock. It was huge! It easily fed two people plus the kraut on the side. The inside was tired looking and the service was a bit slow. However, the food was good and plentiful.

This is a such a fun place! My boyfriends brother had his rehearsal dinner here. Everyone had a blast. King Ludwig’s is located in the Bavarian Village of Leavenworth. While we were here, the whole town was decorated for Christmas. It truly felt right out of a Christmas movie. King Ludwig’s serves authentic German cuisine. The restaurant is decorated with bright floral baskets and German décor. There is a main stage with musicians in costumes playing. There is also a wooden dance floor. Our dinner was all family style. We had a feast. We were served the King Ludwig’s platter. This included rotisserie chicken, pork, German sausage, potato salad and a bunch of other things I’m forgetting! Everything was amazing! The atmosphere itself is fantastic. The band is so entertaining and involves the crowd with their songs. This was such a memorable night for everyone involved. Everyone left very full and satisfied and with a ton of laughs!

Came for lunch a few weekends ago during Oktoberfest. We found a great parking spot, which was right in front of King Ludwig’s and decided to go in for lunch. The interior is very dated as are fixtures, tables and tableware. The servers are all dressed in «Bavarian» attire and were pretty polite in getting us seated. I ordered the Leberkäse and my wife had the Bavarian Bratwurst. Both dishes came with two types of kraut and«Bavarian» potato salad. My Leberkase was ok. It had mediocre seasonings and the serving size was adequate. The winekraut was too sour for my taste but the rotkraut was more manageable. The potato salad was quite bland. My wife’s brat also lacked flavor. I can’t say I’m the biggest fan of German food and our meal at King Ludwig’s didn’t exactly raise their stock.

Extremely disappointed in the food we had at King Ludwigs. Spatzl pasta looked and tasted like scrambled eggs… Jäger schnitzel was covered in mushroom gravy that looked and tasted like the gravy from a school lunch room. Red cabbage was inedible. Had 2 bites and got the hell out of there!

Was surprised they weren’t crazy busy during Mai Fest in May. I’m glad though. I was seated immediately and ordered the ham hock plus a Belgium white. Service was pretty good, the entrée arrived in good order, the beer was forgotten but quickly remedied when I asked about it(nicely on both parties). The ham hock, OMG, it was amazing. I wanted to be alone with it and tackle with with my bare hands. I didn’t care for the sides — two kinds of kraut and a cold potato salad. I liked the bottles of mustard and spicy(!) horseradish however. The Belgium white beer paired perfectly with this meal. But the ham hock was awesome. It was sticky, crispy, soft, flavorful, etc etc. Since I only JUST arrived to town, I didn’t want to have a food coma, so I had about 1⁄3 of the hock before packaging it up for later. This is definitely a required stop if you’re in Leavenworth!

Service: 9⁄10 Food: 8⁄10 Location: 10⁄10 The German ambiance and setting was pretty neat. The food was good. I recommend looking at photos here to see what you like. They were pretty busy during lunch time, so expect to wait a couple minutes. Not too painful of a wait! The food seems authentic, so the flavoring is very plain. I would ask for a recommendation on what they like to get so you have their best dish.
