My friend needed a buffer for a «meet-up» with a guy, so she asked me to make the trip out to Lancaster. The place was your average neighborhood bar with a relaxed atmosphere. I felt totally comfortable, maybe more so because of the camaraderie with the Thursday night Bills/Jets game. They were doing a $ 15 special for a double order of wings and a pitcher of beer. Sweet deal. My friend and I split the Cajun wings, and the charred BBQ wings and they were phenomenal. I usually like my wings plain, but I kept going back and forth between the two flavors trying to figure out which one I liked best. I might consider a trip back just for the wings. There’s a pool table, dart board, and plenty of T.V.s. No fuss, great place to go if you’re in the area.

The Green Buffalo is essentially a typical Buffalo Neighborhood Dive Bar. When I walked in, I immediately noticed how small the bar is relative to the size of the building. There is a lot of space filled with tables, but the bar itself is quite small. And of course, nobody is sitting at tables, everyone is at the bar. One negative I must share is that I did not like the odor of the place. The entire premises smells like a urinal cake. Nevertheless, I sat at the bar and ordered some grub. I didn’t feel uncomfortable there even though I wasn’t a regular. I had a 16 oz. Blue draft for $ 1.25 and no problems with dirty draft lines. It tasted fine. Can’t argue with that price. I ordered chicken fingers. A single order was $ 7.00 and the size of the fingers were large and cooked perfectly. The best part was the french fries. These were fresh-cut curly-type fries and they give you a lot of them, just as the side to the fingers. I devoured the fries. I couldn’t finish the fingers, so for $ 7 I received more than I could eat. This wouldn’t be a good place for a first date, but for grabbing a beer and some bar food, it’s a solid choice.

Average dive bar. Owner is a nice guy, however he sometimes allows smoking inside the building. I’d like to have a drink or two with my buddies and not leave the place smelling like I smoked a pack. Dart board, pool table, digital bowling. Bathrooms are a mess. I’m a classy guy who enjoys a seasonal brew on tap. Not much in tap here besides your domestics.

Local dive! It has your dart boards and pool tables and a adequate beer selection but if your a yuppie beer drinker like myself the microbrew selection is a disaster! The green buffalo is nothing special but then again are most dive bars? Stop in for a drink, watch a game.

A Lancaster tradition. Your typical corner bar with darts and pool table. But that’s a good thing! Has good pub comfort fare. And as for the owner Jimmy … what can I say … Póg mo thóin Jimmy! Gotta love this guy. He’s a character. GBP … Cead Mile Failte … Try it, you’ll like it!

If you’re from Lancaster… chances are you’ve hung out here. Either with your parents or with every other person that graduated from LHS. The owner, Jimmy Lynch, is a great guy and still tends bar from time to time. They’ve got darts, pool, shuffleboard, and… Big Game Hunter. be prepared for a bit of competition. Its a younger crowd later in the evenings these days, but still a great time to be had. As always, take care of your bartenders and they will take care of you.

why no reviews? i saw one in the Buffalo News not too long ago — great article on this place. go check the archives. great local bar — kinda like«Cheers» the bartenders remember your name and give you the full amt of alcohol you ordered — not watered down like some or paying no attention to you. Steph is a great bartender — knows how to make your drink and has suggestions on special nights(like what liquor is on sale and how to make your drink get the best value). great customer service. Jimmy — the owner — is fantastic. quite a character! the bar food ain’t bad either — better find out when the kitchen is open before you venture out. the chicken fingers, fries and pizza logs were all delicious. great place to watch a game(NFL, NHL, MLB, etc) while you get a drink and snack. 1 pool table, a couple dart boards and a jukebox round out your extras here. i go here with friends when i visit home and i never am disappointed. wide range of ages for the patrons here. check it out!
