Hotel North Woods, an Ascend Hotel Collection Member

Hotel Staff: The hotel staff was very accommodating. Unfortunately our group arrived two hours later than we were supposed to due to traffic and a clogged charter bus bathroom. So we arrived a little after midnight. Check-​in was easy and we were greeted with a smile. Our lift tickets were distributed that night by Joe. He tried to maintain a friendly demeanor, but he was struggling. I felt for him though because it was really late. I’m sure he wanted to turn in for the night.
Rooms: Hotel North Woods has very nice rooms. The décor is cute and the beds (as well as the pull-​out couch) are very comfortable. They put a lot of effort into the renovations. The bathrooms are spacious and nice; I like the soap! However, the water pressure is pretty low in the showers. So it just took a little longer to get clean. Also, the water can get pretty luke warm as the day goes on, so I took it upon myself to wake up around 6:30AM to get a steaming hot shower. Very soothing. The alarm clock in the bedroom had bluetooth, so we cranked some tunes with ease. I couldn’t get our TV to work, but that just forced us to go out and explore the town.
Food at the Hotel: The breakfast was not impressive. The only thing worth acknowledging is the variety of juices (orange, cranberry, and apple). The breakfast was below average; there was just eggs, potatoes, bacon or sausage, english muffins, and toast (the toaster was provided). It would have been nice to have some fruit, yogurt, or cereal. There were no vegetarian options. Tea and coffee was available (there was a coffeemaker in the room, too).
The Shuttle: The shuttle to White Face Mountain leaves a block away from the hotel. The 8:13AM was full so we missed it. There were no taxis available (only two in the whole town) or Ubers (they just don’t exist). Luckily we had our charter bus. I am not sure why, but the shuttle back to the hotel took over an hour. The driver said the route changes in the afternoon. Be sure to get all the information.
The town: Olympic village was very cute! The people were very nice and provided such a great small town vibe. There is a fudge shop, ice cream shop, popcorn shop, and great restaurants. The activities range from dog sledding to ice skating to taking the shuttle to White Face Mountain and skiing for the day. I was surprised some of the stores and things were open so late, too!
Nightlife: We went to Roomers on Saturday night. We were surprised how much fun it was! The DJ that night was great and my friends and I owned the dance floor. Definitely something fun to do for the 20-​somethings.
