This place treated my girlfriend and I much better than a lot of the other places in the area, but aside from attentive service and great attitudes, it left little to be desired. The place is so tired, like many of the establishments in the area, but the food was inedible. There was some brown sauce on my vegetables that was so sour I only ate the steak(which had no flavor at all). We ordered pecan pie for dessert assuming it would be frozen and hard to mess up, however, the chef thought it needed a thick intricate pattern of white chocolate and chocolate in the shape of a spiderweb covering the entire plate. It kind of ruined the only thing that I thought they would get right.

My husband and I stayed at The Golden Arrow for our honeymoon. We went to eat to Generations our second day for lunch. The price for drinks is a steal(hotel guests get Happy Hour prices all day! We definitely enjoyed that!) However, the service at the restaurant is very mediocre. Our waiter took a very long time to take the order, bring the food, etc. I ordered a salad and he left so fast I didn’t get a chance to tell him he missed the dressing! I waited almost 10 minutes until another waitress saw my face and approached me and finally was able to get the dressing. The food is ok. But the service needs a lot of improvement. On a different note, we really had a great time at the bar. Both bartenders that we experience were very nice and they were working really hard. 5 stars to the bar! If you want to eat and get your food fast sit at the bar!

Horrible service had to go to the bar to get our own drinks. Waiter was sitting at end of bar having a drink. Oh and specials we were told of one! However a table next to us who had a different waiter had multiple specials. Oh had to get our own silverware from another table. Waiter came gave us water and one drink. Five tables in the place and it took over an hour for our food! Ridiculous!!!

Mediocre at Best We visited this nice looking outdoor venue that looked fairly crowded. I was concerned when we walked in and the dining area was empty but pushed on. Not to drag this on I will summarize. We were invisible to the waitress who must have said, «I’m sorry» every 5 minutes, waited a very long time to even get water, our food was over cooked(just burgers but burned despite a «medium» request) and just not good quality meat. When a waitress does not ask how how the meal was you have a clue. Despite this the bill was over $ 50.00 with tip(2 beers on the tab). Tourist Trap Thanks

We stayed at the hotel and decided to try this place for breakfast. It was very cold in the restaurant, but the view over the lake was fabulous. The portion sizes were huge, and their prices were a little high. The staff was really nice though. I did not like that they seemed to seat everyone in the same general area when the whole restaurant was open. The food came rather quickly. My fiancé did not like their orange juice and said it tasted like a capri sun flavor. He ordered some burrito, which he enjoyed and I ordered sausage and pancakes, which were very filling.

If you have 4.5 hours to wait for dinner, this place is perfect Honestly the worst dining experience I’ve ever had.

We stopped by after seeing the happy hour sign. The three dollar drafts were a steal. Tons to choose from on tap. They had well drink specials as well as wine specials. We sat at the bar where there were a few tv’s. The corner of the bar we sat at smelled pretty bad. Like an old dishcloth. It was so bad that we stayed only for a bit because the bar was crowded and couldn’t get a seat elsewhere. Also the bar is right by the door. So bring a coat since the door opens and closes a ton… gets pretty drafty. Be prepared as well if you sit by the door for the smell of people constantly going outside to smoke. They should put a sign outside that redirects the smokers to the side of the building.

Stayed at Golden Arrow resort and breakfast at Generations was included. My wife and I ate there two mornings. The food was good but the service not and we were off season and they were not busy. The first day took over 1 hour and the second over 1.5 hours with our waitress not checking with us on the food served, coffee refills, and to provided us our bill. We needed to recruit a different waitress even though our original waitress was still present and working. Overall a very poor experience.

Second time to Generations restaurant. This time invited son and his family to join us on our trip to Lake Placid. You can read my initial review of Generation rest. in June/2015. We stayed at Golden Arrow where they give you two complementary breakfasts with your stay. Service was SLOWER than SLOW. Was told that they were under-staffed. Some walked out while waiting to be seated. We would have as well if it had not been for the complimentary breakfast. First time at Generations in June, we were treated like kings and queens. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for this visit. I have never been treated so rudely by someone in a restaurant. We had a total of 6 adults and one six year old at our table. We are friendly and personable to all. Both times that we had been at Generations(back in June) and on Oct. 13th we had been informed that along with the complementary breakfast we also could get juice and coffee. We asked and they informed us that there were free re-fills on both the juice and coffee. In fact, since we are coffee drinkers, they put a pitcher of coffee on our table. So, on our second morning having breakfast, we expected no less. That being said, during the course of our breakfast on our second morning, our server was told by Victoria(management) to tell us that we would have to pay if we wanted anymore pineapple juice, because I think she said that normally people don’t get that many re-fills. WOW! For Victoria’s information, I personally only had ONE re-fill. My daughter only had ONE re-fill, and the other adults had TWO refills. I appreciate the high cost in food and waste in the restaurant industry, but REALLY??? If you don’t want customers to have free re-fills then you should inform those working in your restaurant of your policies. It’s so absurd… like telling someone at a dinner buffet that they went up to the buffet line too much and if they do so again that they will be charged for another dinner. Without tourists and guests, I might add, you wouldn’t have a job. It is going to cost you much more than the cost of a pineapple, because I will think twice about going back to Lake Placid, or about staying at Golden Arrow, and I will definately not want to return to Generations. I am not accustomed to being treated in such a demeanoring manner. Learn to treat others the way you would like to be treated. Perhaps you should change job careers and work as a warden in a jail with prisoners. There was no excuse for the manner in which you addressed the situation. I am making every effort to post what happened to my family and I on every site, so that I may warn unsuspecting guests of what they may encounter should they choose to dine in your restaurant. Secondly, insult to injury, my son’s egg’s benedict was cooked incorrectly, and it had to be sent back to the kitchen. My egg’s benedict was also cooked incorrectly, but I said nothing and just ate it. My daughter’s pancakes were cold, and on top of that, even though she told the server that she was a vegetarian and wanted the bacon on a separate plate so that she could give it to her niece, they had it on the same plate as her cold pancakes and so it was sent back. I can deal with the slow service, but the rudeness and attitude and how you treated us, is appauling. Our waitress didn’t expect a tip, and was aghast when we offered her the hefty tip that we did. She wanted to give it back to us, perhaps out of regret because of how rudely we were addressed over the re-fills, and also because of the food not being up to par and having to be returned. Whatever her reason, we told her to keep it, she deserved it, because she did serve us. Perhaps she lied, and blamed it on Victoria. Maybe she was just tired of serving so many guests while being under-staffed and perhaps she made up a story about no more re-fills. It really doesn’t matter. It happened, and it shouldn’t have. Brian, Logan, where were you? John, are you still a supervisor? If so, I hope you read my review so you know what happens to your customers.

Close to our motel, arrived at 720pm for dinner we were seated and waited on in a timely manner. The server was pleasant, however forgot to ask what we would like to drink, and didn’t inform us of the specials. We ordered apple bisque as an appetizer it was lukewarm when arrived, and resembled a creamy apple pie in taste, salad was very good however. Started our order at 725pm and the appetizer and salads came at 745pm. I ordered the Jagerschnitzel and she ordered forever wild with shrimp. Our entrees arrived at 0800pm, our entrees we warm not hot, on the Jagerschnitzel the Brussel sprouts could have been cooked a little longer, potatoes and tomatoes we nicely cooked the pork was average in taste not much in seasoning. The forever wild was warm very little if any pesto, shrimp was plumb and tasty. Didn’t order any dessert no room, atmosphere was nice, little on the chilly side.

My husband and I stayed at the golden arrow for our anniversary and we loved the hotel! We went for dinner and were seated and waited 15 minutes and no one ever came to wait on us… It was also not busy at all so we took our business elsewhere. We went back for breakfast because the hotel gave us free breakfast and it was better service but not great food. Would definitely stay at the hotel but don’t recommend the restaurant.

My wife and I had lunch here on Labor day weekend 2015. Pros: — We were seated immediately. — Views of the lake are decent. Cons: — The waiter took our order, wrote it down on paper, read it back to us to make sure it was correct, and still brought us the wrong order. I ordered the pulled pork tacos with just pork and lettuce. My wife ordered the BLT without mayo, tomato, and lettuce with regular french fries. We received everything we didn’t want on our food, and they even gave my wife sweet potato fries instead of regular french fries. — The service wasn’t great either. We couldn’t ask for drink refills since we hardly encountered our waiter. Overall, it was a poor experience and we wouldn’t recommend it. Our orders were completely botched and the service was missing most of the time. There’s a handful of great restaurants in the Lake Placid area, avoid this one.

I go here quite often and I always end up leaving frustrated with the service. We asked for hot sauce and butter but never got it. We watched the server walk right by the hot sauce right after we asked and he never showed up again. Also, we never got an order of pancakes. The food is usually good but this time we got pancakes that tasted like they were sitting under a heat lamp all morning. In conclusion, food is good but the service is horrific. This review is based off several meals at the restaurant.

Very nice place to have a bite or a dinner. Server was very attentive and friendly. Food came out in a timely manner and was hot and good. Prices are very much within a couples budget. $ 4.50 export bottles. Can’t wait to come back. The jalapeños are good and hot.

We came here for breakfast after a 5 mile run on a Saturday morning. The service was awesome and the food was amazing. The french toast was delicious especially with a hint of orange. The maple syrup, however, was very liquidy and lack the maple flavor, which I found absurd.

We had breakfast here on a Wednesday. The food was excellent, my wife and I had omelets and my son had French toast. The portions are large, the atmosphere is nice; if you sit upstairs you can see mirror lake. If we had any complaints it would be that the service was a tad slow and unresponsive. We would go again for sure!

It’s usually not a good sign when you enter a restaurant during lunch and the place is half empty. Overall rating mediocre service was bad and slow, entrées were brought before soups were ready. half of the people got served the other half sitting without their food.

We came here a few times already. Nice for breakfast, good for dinner. A lot of seatings with a great view on the lake. Warm and cozy ambience, good service. Food is a little bit on the simple side for my taste. That’s the only reason why I gave 4 stars.

Very much in doubt between three and four stars. The food is very mediocre, but the service was both times more than excellent. Since we come to restaurants to eat dinner we had the latter prefer. So three stars. Both evenings were very quiet and we asked for a table at the bar area. Helped very prompt and friendly. The menu is very ordinary but suffcient. We had a salad and a burger the first night. Burger was oke, salad was way too cold. Like freezing. Tomatoes right from a very cold fridge are not only uneatable, it’s also not right. Tomatoes belang outside the fridge. The second night we already had a big cheese platter at the Brewery so not that hungry. We ordered the dumplings or gyoza with a light peanut sauce. The only thing that was correct was the peanut sauce. The rest didn’t even come close to the name. It was more liked fried pastry filled with sausage. Very, very, dissappointing. And please excuse any grammar and spelling mistakes. English is not my first language and my Apple device keeps correcting English words into ‘proper Dutch’, my first language.
