Tanner’s Bar & Grill

I don’t drink, so I’m going to give a review on the food. A few of us went in when they had Taco day. The waitress recommended them and we were not disappointed. They were really good!!! The waitress was also very polite.

Love this place! The food is great and the service is always friendly. I’ve never had a bad experience here. If you like nachos, they have the best around!

What really puts me off is the same jackasses that ruined going to the old tanners still hang out at the new location. You can’t even go out to the deck without one of those assholes bothering you. Bald head guy, pony tailed redneck kid and inebriated Mexican guy. Stay clear from on this place …:

I don’t know why all the bad press for this place (other than that most of the reviews seem to be one-​and-​done Unilocalers). We headed over for some chicken lips and the Royals game on a random weeknight. It wasn’t too busy (and maybe that’s the catch), so we were seated and waited on pretty quickly.
Food was as tasty as all of the other Tanner’s we’ve been to in town. Drinks were just as average. Staff was friendly and unobtrusive. The game was on most of the TVs in the bar area with the audio on, and the small crowd was cheering along. It was pretty warm out, so no one was outside, but they do have a pretty large patio. Inside was cool, but the air was just a little funky (stray humidity in the a/​c or woodwork somewhere)– not offensively so, though.
A true Unilocal A-​OK 3+ star rating.

Tonight was the fourth time at Tanner’s and it will be the last. There was only one other occupied table when we were seated, a group of 12. It took our waitress over ten minutes to take our order. Our food, four burgers, took over 45 minutes to be delivered. After delivering the food, the waitress did not come back except to deliver the bill. Burgers were just average. Fries are crinkle cut and absolutely tasteless, not even any salt.

Worst service EVER! I’m very disappointed. Came here for the royals game and literally didn’t get a drink for 35+ minutes. Unbelievable. Make adjustments accordingly please. You’re a sports bar!!!

Disappointed. I keep going back to give it another try and just get mad all over again. This will be my last time visiting. The tables and menus are sticky and the smell of the building is overwhelming. The best parts of the meal were the mushroom appetizer and house salad. The loaded baked potato was cold. Yuck. The wings are regular huge wings and we thought they were small chopped wings. So needless to say, my kid didn’t eat them because they were too big. Ugh. Wasted $ 10.00. This place has gone down hill and should have stayed at the old location across the street. Wish it was better but it’s not. Last chance.

The food was absolutely horrible. I ordered the sliders and a friend if mine ordered the prime rib sandwich. My sliders were not seasoned at all and kinda tasted rotten. The prime rib was ordered medium rare but came out mooing! Pretty disappointing since I’ve been to Tanner’s plenty of times on the Kansas side and never had a problem.
If you’re looking for late night food, drive next door to Applebee’s for ½ price appetizers after 9pm. Much better deal and better quality of food.

Tanner’s moved from 6024 NE Antioch and is NOW at 6221 N Chestnut Ave Gladstone, MO. It’s been there for a while now. The location use to be Tommy’s and for a short time Susie Q’s. I’m still undecided if I like the atmosphere at the new location but it’s easier to get to and see from the road.

I was anticipating the new location, but am puzzled of what happened.
The old location had great people and quick service. Now I don’t recognize anyone and have been twice, only to wait an hour each time for food. Not good.
Still, hoping for the best. And if/​when it happens, I’ll rewrite this review. :)

I came to Tanners with a group of 5 after they moved from across the street. Not sure what happened, different managers maybe but it was horrible. We walked in and went straight to the bar and sat at a tall table. Right when we sat down the table was sticky and my GFs arm stuck to the table. Server walked by our table twice then finally came by 5 minutes later. I asked what the drink special was and she said «I don’t know I just started today» after waiting 10 minutes for our first drinks we had to ask for menus. Again I asked about food specials and she just stared at me then walked away. After ordering our food we waited 25 minutes for our food to arrive. When they delivered our food all of our drinks were empty they even delivered the wrong food to my GF. Nothing good to say about the food, we compared it to underground pool hall food. After we were done eating our second round of drinks were delivered 5 minutes after that our messed up food was delivered no one touched cuz it looked so bad. No sorrys no comps no manager no training. Only good thing about the place was the patio but good luck getting a drink…

Giving them a poor rating for their new location, which is basically across the street and north a block — in the building for what used to be a few other restaurants which seemed to all fail fairly quickly.
The previous location in the back of the shopping center never disappointed. Food was always great and service wasn’t so bad. It’s too bad that they’ve let it slip so much at the new place.
Been to this new place twice — the first, we waited 45 minutes for our food. The second, we were seated in the back and sat for 15 minutes without seeing a waitress. We decided that we’d just cut our losses and leave right away, rather that sticking around for more disappointment again.
It’s really too bad — Tanner’s food is really pretty darn good and we will probably still go to the other locations. This KC north location however is now off the list. Not only is the service a problem, but the restaurant still looks extremely… unfinished. Surprised that a well-​known KC franchise like this is allowing a stain on their reputation.

This maybe one if the most comfortable places to sit and shoot the shit with a friend and a Ranger. I can honestly say that I have never had a bad experience here.
The lighting is comfortable. The staff is friendly and non-​hovering (perfect if you’re wanting just a «chill» night). There’s darts and pool — there used to be two pool tables in the back, but they moved one out to make room for more dart boards (bad, Tanner’s!) — and jukebox with a, let’s say ‘eclectic’ music selection. But honestly, who goes to a bar for the music that’s not coming from a live band?
The food is pretty good too. Nothing fancy or groundbreaking our pretentious. Just good bar food. I suggest the chicken lips (charred and buffalo-​ed, please!) and the french fries on the appetizer menu. I don’t remember what their really called but they’re hot and good and covered in all things delicious that no one should ever eat… nacho cheese… sour cream… there’s more but I shan’t tempt you.
Give this place a try. It’s not always hopping, but it’s always a good time.

Plenty of tv’s that show multiple games, friendly staff and they even have outside seating. Haven’t gotten a chance to try the food yet, but the beer ice cold. You can also sit where you want, so that’s a plus in my eyes.

Great Burgers, a billion TVs, fun waitresses and BTenders. They even have some decent micro beer, not just Bud, etc.

Good food, reasonable drink prices. I really only had one complaint and that was that the bartender was leaving empty drinks and thirst customers so she could go out front and smoke. If it were my bar the staff would definitely not be allowed to smoke on shift and especially not by the front door…

I am giving Tanner’s 5 stars but mostly for sentimental reasons. This used to be our hangout when I lived in Kansas City so I’ve spent many nights here. They have quite a few bar games (Golden Tee, Bowling, Shuffleboard, etc) and they always seem to be changing these out for some reason. At one time they had Pop-​a-​shot and skeeball. The drink prices are good and they always have some sort of good special. The food is bar food, but is very good. You have to try the jalapeño cheese balls. They have other similar items like mini corn dogs, loaded tater tots, fried mac-​n-​cheese that are good as well, but obviously not good for you. If you are hungry for a full meal try the Caribbean jerk chicken sandwich.
Gladstone allows smoking in bars so it will most likely be a little smokey. Other than that Tanner’s is great.
