Down home small café. Be prepared to share tables. Smokers are welcome and abundant. Food is adequate and dollar wise is plenty for the price. Very busy during lunch!

Food was decent. Liked the pan cakes tho. Tasted like there’s some birthday cake batter in it.

I can’t think of many things that beat an authentic diner and Ma and Pa’s is the definition of an authentic diner right down to the chicken fried steak and eggs breakfast, the meatloaf special at lunch(only on select days) and the home made baked pieces of pie for dessert. Now that I have your attention, I want to let you know what I really like about Ma & Pa’s… it’s the human touch. My first time in the owner or manager remarked that she hadn’t seen me before and started chatting me up. At my next visits she recognized me and not only welcomed me back, but asked what I’ve been up to and how my day had been. I’ve since then made further visits and the conversation hasn’t faltered a bit. Believe me, the food is great, but at the same time it’s nice to feel welcome and not many are better at this than Ma & Pa’s. One very small note, Ma & Pa’s is technically Claycomo, which allows smoking inside of the restaurant. I don’t want to make a big fuss of it, but the restaurant does allow it, so if you have issues with smoke for whatever reason, please be aware.

Just walked out of Ma and Pa’s Kettle. There was no sign indicating whether to seat yourself or wait. We stood by the front door with a table right in front of us being waited on. Waitress ignored us. She left and came back… to tell someone at the table something. We interrupted to ask about seating. «We’ll be with you in a minute.» No eye contact. We discussed among ourselves sitting at a booth with a rag on it. Waitress said«we’ll clean it in a minute.» Again, no eye contact, as she leaned in close to tell a customer something. We walked out. If it took 5 minutes to seat us, lord know how it would have taken her to serve us. Also, we could not see a restroom facility that wouldn’t require going behind the counter into the kitchen. We try to «eat local,» but sometimes get burned by places that seem to cater specifically to regulars and provide poor service to others. Ma and Pa’s Kettle seemed that type of place.

Great little place for breakfast! The service is good, especially since every time I visit, every table is full.

Excellent food, great service from the owner. Breakfast as it was meant to be! A great hidden treasure. Biscuits and gravy don’t get any better than Ma’s!

I have no complaints about Ma & Pa Kettles! I was reffered here by an older couple that I absolutely love. They raved about how awesome this place was so I had to try. After a late night(me for me anyways) out at a concert I thought we would go out for breakfast since I didn’t feel like cooking.(Yes, lazy mom day) So, we made the drive to the claycomo area. This restaurant sits in a small strip mall. When you walk in you are over whelmed with how small the place is; it literally has about 11 tables. There is barely enough room to walk through the aisle but don’t let that discourage you! Immediately after finding a place to sit a waitress was at our table asking what we would like to drink. Our drinks were brought to us & another waitress came to take our orders. This service was not only fast but super friendly & with a smile. What I like the best is that yhe waitress advised me that my Belgian waffle was a frozen waffle & not homemade like other items. She also advised me that If I didn’t like it she would get me something else! Wow, can’t believe that. I still ordered it & it wouldn’t have been that bad had it been hot but I ate it any way. The bacon was nice & crisp & the eggs were real eggs. I tasted my daughter s breakfast bowl and it was good. The gravy didn’t have a lot of sausage in it but the biscuit was really good. The hash browns was pretty good as well. I was shocked that my daughter & I liked a mixed up concoction such as this. My hubby had the chicken fried steak & sausage with hash browns & eggs. He claims that it was all ok. He was drooling over someone’s ham steak that came out as well as wishing that he had got the dail special of steak & potatoes but we didn’t see those items until after we placed our orders. Overall, the restaurant has an awesome small time feel with mediocre food served by excellent wait staff with a smile. When you have the best customer service it makes up for any where that you fall short & that is what earns this restaurant a 4 star review for me. Btw, I will go back & try a dinner item in the future.

I’m only giving this place 4, solely on the occasional visits I’ve made since living here. Service is great, food is great. Only open for bfast & lunch. Close to me, & inexpensive menu items.

great homey atmosphere most of the people are regulars. this test has either way to take care of you, and the food is just like Mom’s at home.

I would like to correct the previous review. You can, as I discovered, still smoke in this place. I didn’t think such places still existed, but they do. I walked in and was shocked to see people smoking indoors. I expected to be disgusted, but found that I was actually made rather nostalgic by the admittedly nasty yet somehow endearing secondhand cloud of carcinogens. This is what restaurants smelled like when I was growing up! Anyway, the food is pretty solid. Down home comfort food that seems mostly homemade, breakfast all day, and a crowd of local regulars who had no problem sharing a communal table and friendly conversation with an outsider from«the city». I was offered a cigarette by more than one person(no, thanks) and had my lunch inadvertently paid for by an elderly gentleman that the waitress mistakenly assumed was my grandfather(I corrected the situation and paid for my own lunch). And they do take cards.

Oh, nostalgia. I spent many weekday mornings I should have been in the classrooms of Liberty High instead drinking coffee and eating the delicious omelets, biscuits and cinnamon rolls at Ma and Pa’s. The service is always friendly and it seems that there’s a sizable group of regulars. The food is priced super reasonably and portions are huge. Down-home décor, vinyl booths, and probably still an occasional waft of cigarette smoke, though you can’t smoke inside anymore. Not 5 stars because the location is somewhat out of the way, and last i checked they don’t take cards. It’s been too long Ma and Pa… hope to see you soon.
