I am currently staying at this terrible hotel while in the area for business. When I checked in last night at 12:30am I was assigned to two separate rooms that were occupied. I entered both rooms to find unsuspecting parties inside of rooms 339&228. This could have been very dangerous for myself and the folks occupying these rooms. Next, I was given the key card for room 137 that is a hot tub suite on the first floor. I was pleasantly surprised to find the room wasn’t occupied when I entered but the room has a stitch of mold/humidity. This morning I woke up at 7:00am to take a shower… There was not a drop of hot water to be had. As I walked out for the day I expressed my displeasure to the front desk. The woman assured me the problem would be addressed before I returned in the afternoon. 3pm. I walk back into my room ready for my shower. I find out that there is ZERO hot water once again. Walk down to the front desk were the young lady there told me she would send maintenance to the room. Not that I was surprised, but maintenance never shows I then head back to the lobby to speak with the manger of this hotel whom arrived at 4pm. She did apologize and offered to move me up to room 232. After arriving at 232 I attempted to take a shower for the 4th time… STILLZEROHOTWATER!!! I call down stairs… the manager tells me they are waiting on a pump for the water heater and that she was sorry but would adjust my rate… Which the company I work for so that does nothing for me or the water situation in the hotel. I am here with 15 other co workers who have all experienced the hot water issue as well as being assigned to occupied rooms. If you don’t mind taking ice cold showers, walking into occupied rooms at midnight, and many majestic walks to the front desk, then this is the place for you!!!

I booked this hotel back in March for the simple reason that it is very near the Kansas Speedway. The rooms were already pretty pricey, but at least I got a room! Fast forward 7 months and we finally arrived here. This area is outside of KC but has its own little area around it called Village West. It is about a mile from the track but also walking distance to restaurants, bars, and even an outlet mall. Check in was easy and they were very friendly. They told us we got a good rate for the child’s suite. I didn’t particularly request that, but it turns out that it was GREAT. This room had a big king bed, a pull out couch bed, and bunk beds for kids. There was a kitchen area with a table, fridge, and microwave. No actual dishes or stove or anything that would make it an actual kitchen but at least you could keep your beer cold. Oh and there was a height measuring chart! They told us the bunk beds had a weight limit but then I was like… wait…is she saying we are too fat. Hahaha I jest. This place does have a large lobby with a fireplace and a TV and breakfast in the AM. It also is a good place to have an impromptu party with some dudes you just met. Since you are in the lobby, no one complains about noise. There’s a pool and hot tub near the lobby but may I suggest not walking around in your towel in the lobby unless you want us to take pics of you and post them online. All of the people working there were great. Check in lady was festive, told us that some of the race team’s crews were staying there(already saw ‘em), and called a shuttle to take us to the casino. The next day another staff member directed us to a good sports bar up the street a bit. So they rock and they are used to dealing with race fans. Overall a great stay and I would definitely stay here again if coming back to the race!

I came in town Oct 10 – 12 to see the US soccer team play in a World Cup qualifier at Sporting Park, and stayed here knowing it was just a five minute walk to the stadium. I like the room, hot water when I needed it, TV worked great, comfy bed. Minifridge in room. Complimentary breakfast. All above my expectations, but not 5 stars by itself. The top rating is achieved thanks to the staff — every interaction with the reception and other staff couldn’t have been better. They saved me a trip to the drug store for a couple toiletry items I forgot and were really welcoming. And when I had a plane late in the day, they watched my bag after check out so I didn’t need to lug it around the place(Of course I tipped when I came to pick it up, but there was no hesitation when I made the request). One remark about that area(Legends/Village West) is that it was not developed with pedestrians in mind. If you come to this area, you’ll probably want to have a car. I enjoyed all the walking — it helped burn off some of the alcohol calories I consumed in the evenings — but I suspect that most wouldn’t want to do that. Well located for Sporting KC, speedway, and Royals events, and to the Legends mall.

This Holiday Inn is clean and has nice staff as well as a complimentary breakfast. It does fall on the pricier end for a Holiday Inn but its close access to the freeway and other amenities seem to compensate for that. However, all of the non-smoking rooms and floors have recently been smoked in. For anyone dealing with allergies or asthma this is a serious concern and therefore I cannot recommend this location for that reason.
