My boyfriend and I had a great time here 3 nights ago. We had good service and the braised lamb shank was heaven… We enjoyed good wine, too. Great recommendations from our server. We will definitely be back!

I don’t like to do this to such a nice looking place but I can only say the cappuccino was good. But I had tomato basil, it was cold. I had to return it to warm it, then it was bland not seasoned at all. I had to all salt and pepper. Basic spices. My guests had to return their fries because it were cold. It’s too competitive in the food industry to not quality check your food BEFORE you serve it. On the bright side, the people were nice but still took a bit long to serve refills of tea etc… The good thing is… It’s a great location.

Service — Consistently bad. Full or empty, it appears that no one who works the front of the house has ever worked as a server before. Often multiple employees are engaged in conversations amongst themselves or engrossed in a conversation with a customer while ignoring all other customers. The place is only 40 sq/ft — it’s not that hard to stay vigilant/responsive. Food — Best burger in Houston. Seriously, the best. The one-star rating is my attempt to get the manager/owner to fix the service. Price — Unacceptably high given the consistently poor service.

The location is perfect. Beautiful set up and so convenient. There are lots of shops around so it’s the perfect lunch spot. I wish I could say the same about the service and food. I ordered the Cornell pizza since this was my first visit. I figured you can’t go wrong with pizza. It was bland to say the least. The presentation however was great. Very pretty dish. The dough was good, the sauce was plain and needed salt. The chicken wasn’t seasoned well. The only thing that saved it was the pepperoni. My friend got the chicken sandwich with fries. The fries were good, the sandwich was meh… I would probably give it a 3 star, but the service was virtually nonexistent. To be fair, they were super packed. We sat in the outdoor patio and it was beautiful. However, they took at least 30 – 40 minutes to bring us our food. I asked for lemons for my tea and went through 2 cups before they remembered my lemons. Although the menu is a bit pricy, there are some cheaper options. I spent a total of $ 17.00 including tip. If I do return, it will be to try the brunch menu.

What a cute lil wine bar hidden on the backside of Highland Village. Outdoor covered patio and friendly waitstaff make this a solid choice if you’re looking for a laid back atmosphere to enjoy your meal with a splash of wine. I came here in work out clothes and sort-of disheveled hair… Got served like a princess! The kale salad is HUGE. I didn’t finish it – and I usually finish everything! The salmon is cooked well too. Their bathroom is a wee bit claustrophobic, but clean nonetheless. Apparently their brunch is the go-to thing here, so I’m looking forward to that(soon)!

I was so thirsty. So I decided to give Drexel a try. Overall nice atmosphere. The workers are fairly friendly. But they are pricey. I paid $ 5.41(I didn’t know how much it was beforehand) for a blended vanilla frappé. Lets just say I should have walked down the street to Starbucks. I don’t know if I am use to Starbucks that I don’t like anything else or what. But the Drexel frappé lacked taste. Therefore, it was not good. But if you like the taste of coffee you may like it. I might have known I wouldn’t like it. I came here a time before and had blueberry quinoa pancakes. Absolutley not good! Those were really an acquired taste that I didn’t require. The stars are for their service that I liked.

Came here for dinner one night while in town. It was a nice day to sit outside in Houston, which is rare. The service was good, we didn’t have a designated server, it seemed like, but we got a lot of help from all the servers. We got the Fried Mac and Cheese and it was really good, we asked for a side of marinara sauce to dip our mac and cheese in and it was really good. The order was big enough for us to share. We also ordered the Pistachio Pie and the Sweet Caroline. The pizza was a little over done for our liking, it seemed a little dry. The server was really nice about it and got us a little more sauce and that definitely completed it. The chef came out to talk to us and he was super nice as well. We also got the Nutella Pot de Crème. It was very tasty as well. I would come back after this experience because everyone was so nice and helpful. I would highly recommend Drexel House to anyone in this area.

Don’t think to come to this place on a Sunday brunch! You will be starting your day as stressed as the people working there. The service sadly enough was awful! I took the waiter to bring a couple of waters soo long and I saw how my coffee went from being so hot and yummy to be cold and gross by the bar waiting to be deliver to me. The waiter pretty much gave us 1 minute to decide on our food and from that point on it was just a stressful and anxious just seen these people keeping this together.

We checked this place out for the first time yesterday after a lady at my usual nail salon recommended it — we were looking for a nice patio to have drinks on. I’m completely hooked now! They have lovely, unique menu selections and great Happy Hour drink specials! The food was tasty and the atmosphere relaxing/cozy. Our server, Barrett, was very knowledgeable and made great recommendations. We met the manager, Alan, while there. He was very accommodating and enthusiastic about his restaurant. I highly recommend this spot! We will be returning(soon)! Truly a hidden gem worth finding!

I’ve wanted to try this place for awhile because the location is so good being in the middle of Highland Village. We decided to check it out for a nightcap after dinner. Good thing we decided not to eat there because they were out of their Friday special and completely out of pizzas. My boyfriend wanted a draft beer but their refrigerator for their legs were broken so anything coming draft wouldn’t be cold. After being told that after hearing they were out of food, we thought, «What next? We haven’t even hear anything good yet!» Ended with him getting a canned Karbach and me getting a latte. The latte was actually very good but warm. I suspect they don’t make it that hot because of the glass they serve. They don’t serve it in a mug! It was $ 3 for the latte and $ 4 for the beer. Might go back but probably not.

Three points 1. The prosciutto sandwich was overcooked, greasy, and the prosciutto was chewier than bubblegum. And the salad that came with it looked like it had been left in the fridge for a few weeks. 2. The servers were non existent and impossible to get ahold of. 3. You pay too much.

Two words: Prosciutto. Buratta. OMG so amazing. But aside from that absolute masterpiece, the Drexel house had many other qualities that led me to a five star review. –They serve brunch on weekdays. So I like champagne on a Thursday morning, who are you to judge? –The atmosphere is delightful. I chose inside over outside because I can’t resist a gorgeous marble bar, but the whole restaurant has a bright and open feel. –The service was impeccable. Both the server and bartender were extremely friendly and I’m waging a guess that some kind of manager was around too. He seemed very involved in making sure every aspect of the restaurant was top notch. Involved but not bossy, I can appreciate that(my boss sucks). Next time I’m in town I’m looking forward to seeing what an evening here is like, but if you’re looking for a fresh brunch spot I think this is the place :)

This is a nice lunchtime spot for me. I frequently order for takeout, but have also dined in before. I’ve heard from others that service is spotty, but it’s always been fine for me. I’m starting to be a regular though, so maybe they know my face now. Anyways, here’s a rundown of the things I’ve had: — Margherita pizza: good stuff, can’t go wrong, nice sauce and fresh basil, crust is amazing. — Sweet Caroline pizza: this is just pure goodness. Sweet, salty, and just enough texture. I can’t wear something nice when I eat it because I’ve gotten truffle oil on myself, but it’s worth it! — BLFGT: bacon, lettuce, and fried green tomato. I like that the yummy bacon is chopped so that it doesn’t get pulled out of the sandwich when you bite in. This wasn’t one of my faves though, they’re a little heavy handed on the aioli. — Prosciutto and burrata panini: yum! Who wouldn’t enjoy this combo? Hot and melty, love it! — Kale salad: I had a few bites if my friend’s salad, an overall solid pick, huge portion. For me, this is a good pick. It’s one of the few restaurants in highland village that isn’t a chain. Try it for yourself though. You’re sure to find something you’ll like.

I was checking other reviews of this place before I went, and there were some pretty negative reviews, however, I had quite a good experience when I went. I went for dinner, instead of the brunch, which most people seem to have gone to, and the place was relatively quiet and empty, so the waiters were really attentive and very cordial. The only downside about the service I would have to say is that it did seem a little discombobulated when they weren’t sure if the other waiter had taken our order yet or not. However, the overall service was great. The food came out really quickly; the waiters seemed very knowledgeable on the menu, and the waiters, especially Dylan, were super friendly and very social as well. We got the fried mac and cheese as an appetizer, and I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was definitely pleasantly surprised. Apparently the mac and cheese is made as a casserole and then breaded and deep fried. The size portions were pretty decent, and the breading was done really well. The truffle oil added a nice touch to it as well. We also tried the charred octopus, which is something you don’t always see. The charring on it was nice, nothing overcooked, and it had some really nice flavors. It came with a squid ink sauce, which was a bit salty in my opinion. The braised lamb shank was really good; very Mediterranean feel to it. The gnocchi that it came with tasted good, but some of the gnocchis were a bit undercooked. Some of the peas were also a bit undercooked as well, but the lamb itself was very moist and bursting with flavors. Overall, I really enjoyed the portion sizes because they were large enough to make you full, but not too large to where you can’t finish and feel overstuffed. The atmosphere was very chill and a great place to go for a dinner and hang out. The whole neighborhood was really nice too. I definitely want to go back and try their brunch though.

I want to love this place but it will not let me. That food is quite good, the service is fragmented, jittery and overall well meaning, but still tragic. There is «running man» the server who must run/jog from inside to outside. He is nice but doesn’t look at his tables to see what they need. He openly states what is bad on the menu but then says some people love it. The others are okay but not attentive. Wine pours are very inconsistent for the 6 or 9 oz Try to order oil and vinegar on the side, you won’t get it or it will be a long time.

While not my favorite, I think I would come here often if I lived nearby and could walk here easily. Even though it’s located in Highland Village, Drexel House is small and feels like a neighborhood spot. Food was good: my friend enjoyed the baguette and lox and really liked how they added dill to the smoked salmon. The granola, greek yogurt and honey was a nice, healthy option, though the almond croissant was the opposite: so not healthy and very good. I wish there were a few more healthy options on the menu for breakfast/lunch. Service was just OK: while nice, they seemed a bit disjointed, especially considering that it was early, and not many people were there. It took a while to get our check because they seemed to charge our bill to the wrong card at first.

We visit lots of places in Houston this place is hidden but great! Good atmosphere not too loud you can actually hear yourself and the person your with… I recommend it, I have also heard amazing things about this place for brunch ! Enjoy ! Everyone was friendly the host kept making sure we were okay along with our waiter and another waitress that was manning the inside or should I say womanning. Everyone works as a team my fiancé drinks a lot of water so it was never empty. From moment of arrival, friendly wait staff, good seating options… I am picky so I got to choose, once a table I wanted was available …(in front of the misters outside) they let us know and we switched. Had the Rosé(champagne) and my fiancé had a lawnmower(beer) we ordered the calamari to share it had a little spice to it but the best parts were the dipping sauces one was like a vinaigrette and the other like a creamy guacamole ! Yum yum ! It’s hard to find a good wait staff anymore in Houston so I will definitely be back !!!

Nice wine selection, even beer selection, however, they should be aware of some things. Our waiter, Chris’s face was in his tablet from the moment he greeted us as we sat down. He had 0 knowledge of the menu, we asked what one of their meat selections was and he said, «i believe it’s thinly sliced?». Isn’t all prosciutto thinly sliced? Also, he clearly hasn’t been trained adequately in using the tablet because it took him about 2 minutes to locate the type of beer one of us ordered. Also… Messing up check was a nice touch, know your items and know their prices. It’s your job. Let’s get to the food: we ordered heirloom tomato caprese and a 6 selection meat and cheese board. The caprese was beautifully plated, but the basil leaves were browned and not fresh. The tomatoes were also not even ripe, they were hard to cut with even a knife. Next, the meat and cheeses: providing us with«crumbs» of ham, not thin slices, and the literal rind of blue cheese. I won’t be spending whatever amount it was for this 6 selection cheese board again. I’m just upset that they ruined such a simplistic idea of delicious charcuterie and served us what seemed like packaged hams and Walmart quality cheeses. I was excited to dine here at Drexel house, but with the ignorance and lack of attention to the quality of food they serve their guests, it’s not worth your time. Skip it. Seriously, save yourself the annoyance.

How have I not seen this place? Probably the same reason you haven’t, it’s kind of hidden in the highland village shopping center. Finally got to try this place on a random thursday night. Very cute. Very small. Very nice patio. This place will be perfect once it gets warm. They dont take resos unless you have a big party. Kind of like a benji’s casual but with table service. Menu is awesome. They have conpletely separate menus for dinner and lunch. Which don’t cross over. I was kinda bummed bc I really wanted their burger. Everything we had was delicious. I’m sure everything they offer is. Can’t wait to go back for breakfast. Highly recommend the pizzas. They are smaller so one per person. Beer and wine only.
