I used to work here for years which has no bearing on my review. I’m a big Unilocaler and I think it’s extremely important for establishments to know what they are doing right/wrong. I bring my family in here from time to time but I must say the service has gone from bad to worst! I recently came in with my four nieces and nephews for kids make your own pizzas. There were only two people working the entire floor!!! There were about seven tables of customers(3 – 6 tops) and only one server and one bartender working! It took forevvvvveeerrrrrrr to get our orders in and keep in mind I’m with four cranky and hungry kids! The restaurant was short staffed as usual and the dining room was very dirty… looks like tables weren’t wiped down and floor hadn’t been swept in a couple of days. Very disappointing to see this place go downhill after all these years!

I don’t know why there are not more people here. The food is good. Well priced. I guess it’s geared towards kids, but I would come without kids if you are hungry. Service… Well… That needs to be worked on… But you ain’t coming here for the service. You all should really come and try it… The pasta that sits on top of a pizza crust is great.

We stopped to eat here after looking at apartments in the area. We had the bbq chicken pizza that one of the local leasing agents recommended. I am giving three starts because the food didn’t taste like death but it wasn’t exactly high quality either. You could tell the chicken was poor quality pre-cooked chicken. They have our kid a free ballon which was a nice touch. However, we live right down the sidewalk and I would rather drive to Ledo’s. Maybe the present is their strongest point but the place was nice.

Unable to rate the food due to the service. Ordered online for a quick pickup. The online item«White chicken chili» is no longer available. Asked the hostess if she tried to call to tell me the order could not be placed and she said«yes». I had no missed calls. She lied. It took so long to reverse the transaction that I ran out of lunch time. I can understand the item not being available, but not the lying. Ridiculous. Severe disappointment, I would not recommend this establishment because of the way they treat their new customers. No ethics.

Ravioli appetizer was great! The Calzone was ok, maybe a different selection of toppings would’ve helped.

Very bad customer service! Tried this place for the first time on someone’s recommendation, ordered their european combo pizza. While the pizza tasted good, the crust was so soggy that the box was wet, the pizza slice couldn’t hold it’s shape, we had to fold it and eat! We live a couple of blocks away from the place so it wasn’t like it had travelled a lot and even then it should not be that way! And when we spend $ 45 on 2 pizzas they better be worth it. We called them back after a couple of hours to give a feedback, not expecting any complimentary food, but the response that they gave is what made me write this review. On telling them about the whole experience, the lady said the European pizza comes with a lot of toppings and if we wanted a crispy«thin crust pizza» we should have informed them while ordering! Are you kidding me? If you don’t know how to make a thin crust pizza don’t offer it! She also very impolitely asked what I wanted them to do. We definitely don’t want their pizza even if it is free! There are chains that serve pizza better than this at one third of their price!

If you have allergies to gluten I highly recommend this place to be your pizza spot. Their gluten free pizza tastes like real pizza and it’s worth the price you’re paying. I tried a sandwich from their and it was delicious! It was big and it came with a lot of fries. The décor is very fun, has a 1970s look to it with tie dye, colorful walls, old school signs and toys, has a few tvs, and a bar area. This is also a great spot for parties! Parking is limited so I highly recommend carpooling.

The food was delicious! The pizza amazing and a generous size! I got the lunch special, $ 6.99 for a steak and cheese and fries. It was great the bread was perfectly toasted. The prices are very reasonable for the huge portions. Very kid friendly. I didn’t give them 5 stars because the bathroom needed to be cleaned, it made me almost sick!

I have come here multiple times. The crew is friendly, pizza is amazing, and it is always fun to hear my step dad talk about George himself when he knew him in the Alexandria location.

Haven’t eaten at a Generous George’s since they were on Duke St in Alexandria, VA and also in Springfield. Used to be really good back then, so when I saw the deal for this one and I was in the area, I decided to give them a try. The wings we ordered were called«Spicy Ranch» which was ranch mixed with Buffalo sauce. The flavor was really good, but the wings weren’t meaty enough and some were over fried/cooked. Pizza was tasty, but topping prices were odd, like charging more for jalapeño peppers than what they charge for other basic toppings… made little sense. Pizza had plenty of fresh topping and the crust tasted good too, but the end of the crust was way too large, meaning the pizza toppings didn’t go all the way to the edge or within an inch of the edge. Service was very friendly and nice. Service was great. The restaurant is set up for families and kids, based on all the balloons, party room atmosphere, etc.

I have never had a bad meal here, and the drinks are amazing! The atmosphere caters to kids and families, so if you don’t want screaming kids don’t come here between 4pm and 8pm during the week, or noon to 6pm on weekends lol. Perfect for group parties! Try the Taco Pizza!

I was not impressed. The dough was too thick, not enough sauce, and the meats were bland. When the group i was with left, they handed me some leftovers, which I politely took. However when I was alone, I threw the leftovers in the garbage. It wasnt necessarily bad… but it definitely wasnt good. Ive had better frozen pizza.

It kind of pains me to write this review, because I really don’t like bashing local places. But Generous George’s is just not good. Décor: it’s bizarre. It sort of feels like a children’s hospital in there, because the décor is really kid focused, but it just feels kind of sad. Service: I have eaten here probably 4 times(since I live across the street), and I’ve waited at the hostess stand for up to 15 minutes for someone to come up and seat me. And it isn’t as though everyone is running around not noticing. I’ve made eye contact with managers, servers, cooks in the kitchen and still nothing. Also, this place is NEVER busy. I think the most tables I’ve ever seen in use are 8, and it can still take 25 minutes to get your food. That being said, I’m giving this place 2 stars(instead of 1) because when you do finally get a server, they will be very pleasant. Food: It’s average at best. Nothing stands out. The pizza isn’t terrible, but I would never call it «good» either. Everything is just sort of «meh». Except the homemade chips. Those are not good. Price: It’s only overpriced because the food isn’t good enough to cost that much. I will gladly pay $ 40 – 50 for two sodas, two entrees and a tip. But I expect it to be a better experience for the money. Note: I’m racking my brain trying to figure out how this place is still in business and the only thing I can figure is that it’s because it is the only restaurant in this development. If another restaurant opened, Generous George’s would be closed in minutes.

So, I went here on Halloween night and it was pretty much empty except for the bar. We walked in and were seated very quickly. However, it took quite a while for the waiter to take our order. Plus, the waiter seemed very laid back and didn’t look like she cared about her job. After we placed our order, we asked for some sugar and she never brought it. The food took forever. We waited a little less than an hour for only 2 pizzas. There was no one in the restaurant! Why was the service so slow?! I really wasn’t happy but boy, the food knocked it out of the park. We had the BBQ Chicken Pizza and the European Combo Pizza. It was delicious and it was enormous. The restaurant had a cool, diner, vibe and had random things sticking on the walls and ceilings. There’s a nice little arcade for the kids with a couple claw machines, pinball machines, driving simulators, and a coin pusher(haven’t seen one of those in a long while). The bathroom was one of the worst I’ve seen so far. It was almost comparable to Walmart. It smelled horrid. Anyway, good food, awful service, nice vibe, terrible bathrooms, a little less than average experience.

Average food, kid friendly place … This place was a convenient distance from the hotel we were staying. The pizza and the paste we ordered was OK but nothing really stood out. Service was fine as they were not busy when we were there.

***3.5*** It seems that because I’m an avid Unilocaler, I find myself wanting to try different places whenever there is a decision to go to eat. So once again it was one of those days where the decision was to eat out for dinner. So I suggested to my wife that we should try out this place since I had it bookmarked for quite some time. Once we arrived, I noticed that the front outside décor tricked me slightly to believe that this place would have a restaurant style feel to it inside but when my wife and I entered the décor/layout was more like a CiCi’s pizza blended with an old school diner. The reason for the CiCi’s comparison is because they have a small arcade/game section for kids to play and the old school diner reference is because of how the chairs and tables look. It seems we came on a good day because the place wasn’t packed, so we were greeted and seated immediately. Our waiter was cool and patient as well as the other staff(if our waiter was off doing something the other staff members didn’t mind covering for him). He allowed us time to look over the menu and after about 10 – 15 minutes my wife and I were ready. We ended up ordering two personal pan pizzas for us to share: 1.) BBQ Chicken Pizza(waiter stated that it is a customer favorite) 2.) The Georgie Combo Pizza He also came back with our drinks after we ordered which come in a mini pitcher size cup. Which I thought was awesome, because that way I wouldn’t have to hunt down my server as often for refills. Overall my wife and were quite satisfied. I absolutely enjoyed both pizzas but I did feel like although the Georgie Combo Pizza comes with a lot of ingredients it didn’t quite resinate with me after one slice(I felt like the mass amount of ingredients just took away from the pizza) but it was still quite tasty. However, the BBQ chicken pizza I absolutely enjoyed. My wife on the other hand liked the Georgie Combo Pizza and felt that the BBQ chicken pizza wasn’t really a pizza but she did think it was tasty. Now my overall rating is more like a three and a half star but like the name of this establishment I am feeling a bit«Generous» so I gave them a .5 star bump.

We were on a business trip staying at the Hyatt and found this place. The pitchers you see are your drinks! We couldn’t believe it. Definitely would visit again. Atmosphere is a family atmosphere for sure, so it’s casual and gets loud. I thought it was a chuck-e-cheese when we 1st walked in. LOL But I would go back if I were in the are and in the mood for Italian.

Is this the best pizza in the world? Um, nope. Perhaps the best pizza in the DC area? Um, probably not. But it’s pretty darn good. You need to understand, last time I ate at Generous George, it was the 80s and it was on King Street in Alexandria. When it closed down, I was so sad. Long before any specialty pizza place, this place rocked. An art deco environment with tacky junk all over the place and they were the first joint that really loaded up with their toppings! Sometimes too much is, well, too much. But Generous George knows how to do too much correctly. This place is the only branch left. I was doing the Park N Fly at the nearby Westin at Dulles Airport and Unilocaled to find me a place to eat. And wala, much to my surprise, this place came up. Yes, it can’t match the original restaurant on King, but the pizza came out as exactly as I remembered. Strange location some it is in the middle of a very quiet condo complex and parking on street is very limited but an ample parking lot is nearby. Give this place a try. And by the way, the word generous is appropriate. Come in hungry.
