Energetic Mondays! I have been to The Lighthouse Café on Monday evenings four times over the past two months. Attending the Free Bachata Class, followed with a Free Salsa Class! They have an excellent live band and DJ with a nice staff and energetic people. Nice atmosphere for Beginners through Advanced Latin Dancers I had a good time each visit. My favorite words are free and no cover, so its even more enjoyable.

Fun place to see a live band. The food was a bit pricey but the portions were large. We shared the nachos. It’s a casual atmosphere. There were people in shorts. The crowd was mixed from young to old. Diverse with a mixture of plenty of races.

Nice bar and fun lively place with good music and pitchers of beer. For being in a busy location near the pier the service was prompt and I never had a wait for drinks or seating. I ma not sure about the food but for a divey bar and beer it is solid.

Apparently if you are young and cute enough, you can make arrangements to be let in the back door to «feed the meter.» That’s not the«rule» though. And really, why would those who have not yet paid their cover, be allowed entry over those who have?

I have had lots of good experiences here. However, this time was a bit absurd. I understand capacity situations, but there is no real policy in effect here, most obviously. It seems the rule is, «no one gets past me… unless they have a good story.» And if your story is good enough, they’ll sneak you in the back door. There needs to be a clear policy, and one that allows customers who have already paid a cover to enter before those who have not.

I used to always pass by this place and head straight for the more in your face spots on the pier, but my friends and decided to check out lighthouse this weekend and had a blast! There was a cover band, and they tore it up! Live music, great service(thanks Victoria!!), and delicious drinks… can’t beat it! Give this place a chance. Seriously underrated.

went to this place over the weekend to enjoy the beautiful weather by the beach. I had mentioned to my boyfriend i wanted to attend a bar where they played live music. He mentioned the lighthouse would have a live band playing. Indeed, there was a vocalist singing and she was amazing! she sang every request people were asking for and even sang one of my request. Long story short, we were there to have a few drinks and enjoy the live music. Little did we know this night would turn out into a nightmare. At the end of the night, we were ready to call it a night when I received my tab was over $ 250.00. SERIOUSLY??? $ 250 for 2 people? so, I tried to dispute the charge and let them know i wasn’t going to pay the amount they were charging because these idiots were charging me for something i obviously didn’t order. I ended up being charged for a ridicules amount. People, please be careful when coming here, also don’t pay with your card or else you will be charged for something you didn’t order. Based on past reviews, it seems as this isn’t the first time they’ve done this. Very dishonest people!

I went here with a friend of mine to listen to live music. Walking in, we expected to pay a cover, but was surprised that we had made it early enough to get in free. Otherwise, the cover is just $ 5.00…certainly better than the minimum $ 25 you pay in L.A. When we walked in, all seats were taken and the bar was kind of full. We squeezed into a spot at the bar, as the band started warming up. My friend ordered a rum and coke and guess what your girl ordered… water! Haha! I’m not a big drinker and alcohol turns to pure sugar in your system and I’m trying to control this waistline, so water does a body good! We stayed for a few hours and listened the band play a lot of 80s tunes, especially movie soundtracks. We heard everything from Prince and Journey to Led Zeppelin and songs from St. Elmos Fire! They were really good and people were seriously rocking out! As the night moved on, it got super full in there and I really liked that people were on the dance floor. It was so tight that even if you didn’t know how to dance, you need not worry… no one could clearly see you, anyway. I liked that they had 3 bartenders stationed… one at each end and one in the middle. That cut down on people causing gridlock on one side. There were three cocktail waitresses who were really moving and I saw that some people ordered food. Their food looked really good, we just didn’t order any because there was no way to easily eat standing at the bar. Eventually, the rear bar opened up and we sat back there. That was a perfect angle to the whole room and we were out of the way of all the dancers and tipsy people doing their thing around the main bar. There was security in there and she was stationed in the back by the restrooms, which I thought was cool, because we all know that bitches will fight in the restroom! It was a fun night. I can’t wait to go back, again. I definitely want to go for the reggae. I heard it’s really good!

Nope, not going to do it again, it seems that The Lighthouse did a bit of a bait and switch. They had cheap ass beer on tap in 20 oz plastic cups. Waitress said. $ 10 for all we can drink beer… 2 of is heard it and actually discussed it, but hey it’s cheap beer not Naja’s quality beer… So I proceeded to have 3 Pacifico’s, the wife had 2 Blue Moon’s and 1 friend had 3 Coors lights and another had 2 coors lights… Turns out it was $ 10 a beer. Really…(I can truly purchase a 12-pack of Pacifico for $ 10.99, and coors gets me an 18-pack for $ 12) It was cheap ass bear, bad cheap ass bear at that… From now on I will remember this and just head to a quality beer spot… We had something that was called Irish tacos… It was basically Nachos made with tater tots… I’m not kidding and the fries. Well they were underwhelming as well. I’ve been here to many times to count and I usually pay good money for a tito’s and soda… But man never have I spent $ 10 on a cheap beer… Really this wasn’t and isn’t a deal!

Happy hour ends at 9 and I asked 8:59 for two more drinks for my friend and I. He said it’s over. I showed him the current time and he just turned to ignore me. Super rude guy with a gross mustache and backwards baseball cap.

Drinks were awesome. The waitress was a nightmare. She acted as if everything we asked for it ordered was a huge hassle. She stated that the kitchen and bar was overwhelmed. She would no longer be taking orders. Clearly this lady was the one overwhelmed. Will not be returning.

I came here last week with friends, as well as my service dog. Upon entrance I told security he was a service dog. I was then asked for documentation, which to my knowledge is not allowed by law. After providing it, I was told he had to be left outside on the other side of the fence. Granted I wanted to be outside, but my service animal was not allowed on my side. Very disappointed and embarrassed because I’ve always felt welcomed. I did not want to make a big deal about it but they need to familiarize themselves with the laws. The Americans with Disabilities Act(ADA) allows for Service Animal owners to be taken at their word and you are limited to only two questions — and only if it isn’t obvious that the animal is a Service Animal. You may not demand proof that the animal has been certified, trained or licensed .

I came here for a Reggae day. I will say that the bar is cool overall. Service was ok but a little slow. I think they’re a little understaffed on days when they have events. Ladies Warning: tons of hungry men in these event days, please beware ! Would I go back? I say yes. I like live music and the music is cool.

First time here! And I’ll be back! I’ve heard of this place but always walked right by. It’s been here forever and is known for their great live music. I believe it was a Sunday and there was a Reggae band. A really really great Reggae band. I lucked out and got table in the corner. I wasn’t going any where for a bit. All types of people. Everyone was very cool. People here are mostly local regulars who definitely knows where it’s at. I ordered a beer and chicken wings. The wings were decent. I love the fact that The Lighthouse is here and has been for so many years. There’s a few people I have in mind who live love the vibe here. Good times here for sure.

I’ve been to the Lighthouse numerous times for the reggae on Sundays from 4−8p. This last time I can only give the stars to the great reggae cover band who did a phenomenal job and had people on their feet the entire time. On the other hand, the food and drinks left a whole lot to be desired. My group ordered the chicken tenders, garlic fries, and the sliders. The fries were so crunchy, but not in a good way. I couldn’t taste any flavor from the fries because they were basically burnt and hard. The tenders were ok. They tasted like frozen food tenders you find in the grocery aisle. The sliders were just not flavorful. The bread used wasn’t a bun but regular white bread with a ground beef patty. I had never seen this before. The drink we ordered called the«Miles Davis» is a rum based drink. It comes in a large glass cup. All I tasted was pure sugar. No alcohol whatsoever. This drink was huge and I didn’t even get a slight buzz from it. The drink wasn’t bad per say but I wouldn’t order it again. I would suggest not ordering food here. It is obviously not their specialty. However, I do recommend coming for the reggae on Sundays. Crowd leans towards older sprinkled with some younger folks.

It’s a nice, open bar to hang with your friends. The drinks are a little pricey, as they are at most of the local bars, but it’s still a great place to hang out if you want to have fun with your friends and avoid the«bro» crowd that tends to takeover the area. My friends and I love coming in for Sunday night karaōke!
