Used to go here all the time in college! The bagels and sandwiches are fantastic. Get the burger on the donut. No regrets

South High street location: Didn’t toast bagels, was originally given the wrong order, and found hair in cream cheese. Staying loyal the market street location from now on.

This is the best local deli. Simple menu and quality food. The everything bagel is amazing. They don’t have espresso or Frappé’s, but they have what you need and keep the place clean and friendly. Try the hazelnut roast coffee with a bagel bite.

We’ve been coming here for years on our journeys up and down I-81. Excellent breakfast place, real NY style bagels. For the bagel lover, you KNOW how hard it is to find those. Prices are good, food even better. I watch my carbs and get a scoop of egg salad and my husband gets a bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel. For a delicious treat, get a cinnamon bagel bite, sinfully good and only a 1⁄3 of a bagel! A little goes a long way. This is a place we look forward to visiting and plan where we stay accordingly. Not much good to eat for the weary traveler on I-81 from that point west…

Man oh man, how I miss Mr. J’s. Sure, there are a bunch of good bagel places around Northern VA, but none of them quite meet the mark that Mr. J’s has set in my heart. Shall I explain why? First up, egg everything bagels. What? I literally have yet to see this type of bagel anywhere else. Secondly, the prices. Ohhhh man, I often find myself leaving a bagel shop up in these parts $ 10 poorer, but at Mr. J’s you can get a sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast bagel sammy WITH homefries for like $ 4. Oh, how sweet it is. If you’re ever in Harrisonburg for a visit, or a JMU student that has yet to experience the magic, I suggest you hightail it over there pronto. So say we all.

Been to the other Mr J’s location and was very impressed. This location seriously needs an overhaul in attitude, management, and cleanliness. Mr. J need to visit here. The food was cold, service was poor, and the restaurant is filthy. Nobody is cleaning. They are just standing around and nobody is here but my wife and I. I’m not impressed. The 2 stars is because I like the other location. This location deserves 1 star at best. Not impressed

Being from New York/New Jersey, I know a good bagel place when I see it, so I know what I’m talking about when I say these are very good bagels for a rural Virginia college town. They are always very fresh; and the service is prompt. You’ll get a healthy portion of lox and cream cheese(if you order that), on your bagel. Also, unlimited refills on drinks! Definitely worth the $ 3 for the bagel and drink(extremely fair). The other location on E. Market St. is good but it doesn’t have nearly as much seating as this location, so I’d definitely come here first to look for seating before going there. But get there early! The line starts to fill up at close to 10 am(considering in NJ it can start to get long earlier, like around 9), you don’t want to miss this!
