Used to love cracker barrel but something has changed. Had the chicken pot pie but was expecting it to be better. I ordered dumplings on the side and for 2 lunches it was over 30.00. Now that is crazy

7:30 pm. Out of the daily special. Out of meatloaf. Couldn’t get a refill on my sweet tea. Ended up ordering country fried steak. Took an hour to get my food. Worst service of any Cracker Barrel I’ve ever been to. Had to edit this review. The manager made it right.

I have been to a number of Cracker Barrels before and they are, most of the time, fine and pretty much what you would expect. However; they have recently added low-calorie, healthy menu options called«Wholesome Fixins» and they were completely amazing! I was so impressed with how many options they had and the taste and presentation of them! Also, our service was very quick and polite from everyone we encountered and the store/restaurant was very clean :) We will definitely be returning!

Went on a Sunday and waited 10 minutes to be seated. Service was friendly and polite. We got free refills by our attentive waiter, even when place was packed. Roast beef was ok and the Sundays Home Chicken was nice and crispy outside and tender inside. Portion was big and we took half home. Liked the corn muffins but not the biscuits. Bathrooms were very clean. Prices were reasonable. Will definitely return.

This cracker barrel is not as good as the typical one. I received my food less than warm. The salid was brought after my main food items.

Why are people reviewing a Cracker Barrel? It’s a Cracker Barrel! You get here exactly what you would get at any other CB. You were expecting something different from this one? Why? People, people, people… save your words for restaurants that actually need the reviews. I’m not looking for guidance on a country chain restaurant next to the Ramada Inn. Been there, done that. Good grief. Tell me something I don’t already know.

Order the special on the menu«2 fried chicken breast with 2 sides» it was so bomb! definitely was a great meal to start the day off. The fried chicken at cracker barrel is so good, it’s very crispy on the outside but the chicken on the inside is soft and peels easily. The two sides i got were mac and cheese and mash potatoes. I’m not a fan of the mash potatoes here cause it was very dried both times I’ve been to cracker barrel. The mac and cheese was decent, not enough cheese for my taste but it isn’t too heavy. Overall take. BRING A SWEATER if your going to eat here during the summer, they blast the A\C like no other! we sat for about 45 minutes with a party of four and all of us were freezing! LOL. But yeah the food was good! awesome way to start your Sunday!

Okay it’s a Cracker Barrel I get it and yes there are a hundred other places to go in Harrisonburg VA. but we were heading home from NC and just wanted to stay close to the interstate. I went with the Grandpa(something or other) breakfast platter and it was okay I mean it’s CB. I wish I could remember the waiter’s name because he is the one that gives this review the forth star. Got the order in and the food out in a timely manner and kept the tea glasses FULL! So if you are traveling down I-81 through Harrisonburg VA and want to do an e-z on and off and your okay with CB stop in.

Had a pleasant experience from our waitress Michele. We are New Yorkers passing through on a road trip and was surprised at the welcoming service we received. Michele took great care of us! We will be back!!!

I mean it’s a Cracker Barrel. Does it really need to be reviewed? CB is like Subway in that it’s the ultimate quasi-cheap road food that if you’re in the correct area of the country seems to be everywhere. Am I saying that the food is good? No, because if you’re not doing breakfast the food other than that is very hit/miss in terms of quality but if you’re in rural central Virginia what are your choices? Another Hardee’s? Another BK? Another Golden Corral? The food was typical CB quality: The burgers are frozen, the grilled cheese is burnt, the rice is flavorless and the chicken portion is very small. On the good side the biscuits were buttery smooth, the quality of the chicken was superb and the dumplings were very… dumpling-y. Our server was sweet as pie buuuuuuuuut I probably met the most miserable person in the world at the hostess station(«D»). More or less no greeting and literally flipped the menus on the table from a few feet away while turning on her heel to slink back to the front stand. Breakfast or not CB is not five star unless you’ve had your taste buds or brains removed at birth. The entire chain screams perfect three star mediocrity on a good day with a slippery slope only going down from there.

One of the poorer Cracker Barrel experiences we had last summer. Incredibly poor service from the hostess to the wait staff. Been to dozens of Cracker Barrels up and down the east coast and this is by far the worst managed.

What can you say about a Cracker Barrel that someone who goes there doesn’t already know? The food was just what we wanted. The coffee was plentiful and hot. We visited this location today –Thanksgiving 2014 before setting out to travel 5 hours to our family in NC. MELANIE our server was so gracious and friendly… she was working the Holiday til 1 pm and planned dinner with her family at 3. She was sweet and we appreciated her attentive service!!!

Mmmmm! Stopped in here while in H-burg for JMU’s homecoming last weekend but I’ve eaten here a few times while in town in the past. I’ve never had a very long wait — the parking lot is large — it’s located very close to an interstate exit. Had excellent service the other day — I ordered the grilled chicken veggie salad which had grilled chicken(of course), corn salad, cucumber salad, a bed of greens, eggs, and a few other veggies in it. It was very good and I didn’t feel very bad about eating it. I love their breakfasts too — my favorite are the blueberry pancakes with blueberry syrup — solo yummy. Or the country fried chicken breakfast with biscuits and some of their breakfast sides. Mmmmmm!

This place really us 3 ½ stars. Ordered the pecan crusted catfish and hubby ordered the grill haddock. Both were tender and moist. Tbh, I had low expectations. I’m glad we were wrong. Our waitress Savanah is a doll. She constantly made sure we were fine with everything. If something was amiss, she’d take care of it. The apple pie ala mode wasn’t great though. Soggy crust. Oh well, overall very good experience.

Server Demi was so hospitable. Reuben had American cheese, and wasn’t grilled. Everyone else enjoyed food.

A perfectly good Cracker Barrel along the Interstate with all the usuals. Same store, same menu, same food, same prices, same service, same everything. It could have been anywhere.

This is far from fine dining, but I had never been to a Cracker Barrel before and I gotta say it was very good. The chicken was very tasty and the waitress was kind enough to give us some free biscuits(and I really love biscuits!).

Indifferent, inattentive service and mediocre food, at best. Every few years my family gives CB a try while on the road(this time off I-81 en route to Knoxville), and every few years we have an experience such as this, which keeps us away for another 3 – 4 years. At this rate, the kids will be teenagers and this will all be moot — then, perhaps, I won’t mind paying $ 2.19 for my kid’s cup of milk.
