This is such a great little place for brunch on Sunday. The potato pancakes with Groovy Gravy are insanely good. I practically licked the plate. I wasn’t thrilled with the cheesy grits but I’m really picky about grits. The coffee was really smooth. Our waitress was polite and charming. The prices are very reasonable. They now take credit cards! I’ll be back for more!

Stop for breakfast looking forward to local fresh ingredients. Lemon poppy seed pancakes with berry jam were great as well as the blueberry banana pancakes. Disappointed there were only bananas for fresh fruit even though there is a sign on the bill board about this weekends strawberry festival. Seems to me a fresh local café would be all over that. Meaning fresh strawberries would be on menu and simply available as is. Dried out Home fries were a huge miss. Better to leave them off menu altogether. Liked the atmostsphere but room for improvement on food.

Such an amazing hidden gem! Home cooked vegan and vegetarian meals with locally derived veggies, meats, eggs and grains! What more could you ask for! And they just started taking credit and debit cards! Wait can be very long during peak hours but usually less crowded in the summer when students are gone! I’ve had the lemon poppyseed pancakes and the Go Ask Alyce wrap with a side salad. Both were phenomenal!

Couldn’t decide on pancake choices so waitress suggested getting the lemon, coconut and blueberry junior sampler. The Lemon poppy was favorite! Great atmosphere and friendly and attentive service.

My server was fantastic. She worked with me for everyone to get what they wanted. Was able to get the three pancakes with one being dairy free for my daughter. Added seasonal mixed veggies to my breakfast bagel. Coffee on the ready. Very happy with this funky little place!

Amazing breakfast. The blue monkey pancakes are my go-to item, but the entire menu is delicious! People watching is interesting as well.

Wound up here twice during our visit to the area. We enjoyed it both times. Good, locally-sourced food. Note: while it has mostly vegetarian & vegan options, there are options for the omnivores in the group. The time I went for breakfast I had the Blue Monkey pancakes and they were just right. When I went for lunch, the chicken burrito was excellent. It’s funny how, at a regular restaurant, meat entrees are much meatier. If you order a chicken burrito somewhere else, it is chicken with other stuff. Here, it was a tasty burrito that happened to have chicken in it. Light & lovely!

Can’t say enough about this little gem. Got in right away and the servers were hustling to get everyone fed quickly. The food was amazing, one of the best breakfasts we’ve had. Cool art on the walls, great coffee too!

Driving through Harrisonburg we decided to stop here for lunch. Best choice ever! The sweet potato burger was amazing and the salad dressings my mom and I got for side salads were so good. Nothing tasted greasy or buttery. It is worker owned which I also love. I had to take off a star simply because the floors were very dirty. They needed to do a deep clean in the whole place, but good food is good food.

Little Grill, how I love thee. Unsuspecting, you are. If I could, I would carry you around in my back pocket.

And in conclusion… This place is great. Love the history, dating back to the 40’s and the fact that it’s employee owned, like most businesses should be. The food and service is great. The tofu scramble was perfect, and my mom loved the potato boat. The only thing I disliked was the soysauge. I’ve had much, much better faux saiusage. It had almost no seasoning to it, which is what can make faux sausage as good or better than the real thing. It also had a pretty bad texture. It was like eating a bland, dense, ill prepared hotcake. Mostly it was void of any kind of moisture. There are plenty of ingredients that could make this thing not the dryest thing on earth. It seemed like the first time I tried to make a veggie burger from scratch. Please work on that, because faux sausage can be magnificent, and can make a breakfast great. Honestly, I’d switch to using a packaged faux sausage, redo the recipe, and then reintroduce it when it’s good. I can’t see how anyone could give a thumbs up to that thing. Anyway, other than the cow pattie soysauge, everything was top notch.

Im a vegetarian, Im picky, Im huge on nutrition and when we eat out it has to be somewhere that offers alternatives. I was hesitant to go here but this place is simply amazing! Surpassed all expectations. The quality of their ingredients is on point. I love finding local businesses that have poured their heart into their product and provide excellent service! LGC has my support 1,000%. You leave with complete satisfaction and not feeling bogged down with grease and butter etc. I asked for no cheese on my veggie omelet and they took $ 1.00 off the price. You can taste the authenticity of the ingredients, even their ketchup! Ill be going back to try their lunch menu soon! Also, cash or check only! Please do yourself a solid and go here. You will like it, trust me!

A worker owned and operated restaurant cranking out scratch made food using locally sourced ingredients? Yes please… times a million. The wife and I… and the baby(yep, that’s new) were on our way back to NY from Atlanta and literally decided to stay over in Harrisonburg because of this place(and one other). We are supper glad we did because the food is amazing. Everything we ordered was perfect and you can really taste the freshness of the food as well as the love that goes into making it. Even the coffee was out of this world. Plan to get there early as the place fills up quickly but make sure if you are in the area you stop by. It’s so nice to see a place like this thriving, I know if I head back that way I will definitely be back!

E V E R Y T H I N G is delicious. Ingredients are fresh, most locally produced. The taste is good because the cooking is right. The taste is flavored because there’s just what’s enough grease. A MUSTSTOP for anyone going thru Harrisonburg, VA. Apple cider & Oats, local buckwheat, kicker sandwich, plain yogurt, English muffin, greek omelet, organic tea and coffee, great root beer. We got a fantastic time. Everything is homemade.

The reviews for this place on Unilocal is what brought me here. In town for business, I wanted to grab something filling but not something that will make me feel horrible a hour later. Sounded like this place fit the bill. The place is a democratic managed workplace, meaning that all of workers have a stake or «ownership» in the place. Neat idea! It is also primarily vegan and vegetarian. CASHORCHECKONLY. Also, there are some resident flies that share your airspace, but they don’t bother you. Had to park on the street, but there was space no problem. There are about 15 tables in the place. I can imagine there being a possible wait on the weekends when it’s busy. Was asked to grab a seat anywhere. Got a coffee(of course) and decided to try their Breakfast Grinder, which was scrambled eggs, Munster cheese, burger, cream cheese, mushrooms and onions, on a wheat roll. I don’t like shrooms or onions, so I got it without. The coffee is real good. Also served with natural sugar. It was out in about 10 mins. As I expected, it was CHEESY! Love that. Was a grain based burger… Which is something I have never had before. But it tasted great! Everything is local(meat, eggs, bread) which anyone can get behind. Coffee, grinder, and a vegan cookie came to $ 13.00 total. Well worth the money. If I find myself back in the area, I will be back.

I think I’m still full from my brunch yesterday at 11 am. Wow. This meal was truly an experience. Having gone to school for four years right next to Little Grille, and having never gone once, I felt like part of my soul was missing. I was right. I wish I could rewind time and go every weekend while in college. The food is GREAT. I love that you know that everything is local and you can see where it comes from. Humanely raised chickens and other meat also makes me very happy. I got the whole wheat blue monkey short stack of pancakes– delicious. Others in my group raved about their omelettes and breakfast meals. Everyone seemed to enjoy their fair trade coffee too. The environment is child of woodstock meets farmer meets college kid meets whatever– it’s a really mixed feel but it’s a great time. Expect to be practically in two conversations at once– your tables and the table next to you(maybe more if you’re in a really small spot). But everyone there is friendly so dont worry. Prices are great. Everything is great. Only minor downfall(still worth five stars) is their cash only policy. It’s understandable because they want to stay local and grass roots-ish, but it’s a #firstworldproblem for the rest of us. So just remember that before going.
