Sometimes it’s the best BBQ, sometimes it’s dry and the ribs are small. I like to go on Sat. it seems to be the best. One critic said, «the best BBQ comes from behind bullet proof glass» and I believe it. I still think Bludso’s is way better. Of course it’s in Compton behind bullet proof glass too!

Very good little hole in the wall place! Customers service was great and we didnt have a long wait time. Food was good as well. A lot of smoky flavor and the meat just fell off the bone. We took are food to go but there are some picnic tables outside if you wish to eat there! Only reason why it gets 4 stars is for the people outside begging for money. I dont have a problem with thay its when they follow you to the car thats not cool.

No bones about it… Jay Bee’s is a dive, but the GOODKIND because the ribs are worth it. Unfortunately that’s all we ate this time around [will definitely be back to try more]. Meaty, saucy/sloppy, and delish — we split a full slab and had 3 left. Not impressed with the sides — cole slaw & potato salad. I wanted the mac & cheese, but they were out of it. Prices are very reasonable — a good $ 5-$ 10 less(for a slab) than a more traditional sit-down BBQ place, probably because you order at the window. There’s 4 picnic tables, and I thought parking was relatively easy.

So it was a quiet night in while visiting my elderly parents in Ca. No Internet and basic cable, I was falling asleep, for the 3rd time today. Did I mention they are old! As I was flipping through their limited basic channels, I found Food channel… yesssssss! !! As I watched Tripple D’s, Guy Fietti’s summer spectacular BBQ episode, I started getting hungry. Then lo and behold a tripple D BBQ within 6 miles from me! Whaaaaat??? And so I loaded up the address on my GPS and off I went… soooooooooeey, here piggy piggy(pig call) Just like it was featured on TV, but smaller. I ordered a large beef dinner and a 2 combo meat. HOLY pork butt Piglett, it’s good. TIP: Skip the macaroni, potato and Cole slaw and double up on the baked beans. The bldg itself is small. The counter is adorned with wall to wall plexiglass. Another Tip: Place your order and go outside, wait to be called. The counter area gets crowded with more than 2 people. 4 stars only because of the coleslaw – warm and too much black pepper, salad was just meehhh. To be fair, will come back to try more of their Menu items

Ran into this place as we were driving home. It’s small and a little hole in the wall bbq spot. We ordered the family combo came with slab of ribs and two 16 oz sides. The macaroni salad was delicious. And the ribs were real good except they missed the sauce on the bottom ribs it was just added on top. Overall I thought it was good and price was not bad at all and it was enough for 4 people.

Second worst BBQ spot I ever been too. I ordered the rib tips and i received bones with fat wrapped around them drenched in BBQ sauce. I heard a lot of hype about this place and I was dissatisfied. I should of just went to Wingstop

Inconsistent quality at jaybees– Sometimes the brisket is pretty damned tough– on those days, I stick it in the fridge and forget about it for a few days, and it gets tender after aging– The service is generally pretty rude– On a good day, the food’s terrific, but I just wont drive outta my way for that kinda gamble, and being treated like crap–

I can understand people being a bit put off by the no nonsense service here, but what matters is the food. And only the food. And the food here is absolutely DELICIOUS! The pork shoulder BBQ sandwich with medium level sauce is incredible. That sauce has just the perfect amount of heat to give it a little kick, I was groaning with delight as I consumed it! Don’t pay attention to people who get hung up on issues unrelated to the food. They’re mostly unhappy individuals who love to have something to complain about.

Best BBQ ever. I’ve seriously driven around trying different bbq joints, and this is by far the best. No, I’m not rating it on their coleslaw… their mash potatoes is decent. Their baked beans is their best side. You can’t go wrong with their meat combos. They don’t hold back on their BBQ sauce either. I tend to stick with mild since I like to enjoy the taste rather than burn my mouth, but they have a range… and their hot sauce is pretty hot. The company I work for, moved buildings further away, but my coworker and I still manage to make our way down on a slow work day. So worth it. I recommend their two meat combination plates. Definitely worth the price, and they seem to be better than the sandwiches.

Food is great, the staff is extremely rude and dismissive. I guess you can act that way, if the foods so good? P. S. Don’t call before 11:00, even though they answer, the won’t take your order… or be courteous!!!

This bbq place is good but not great and let me tell you it’s hood. The lady who is normally at the container can come off being rude, however I never had a problem with her but don’t let her friends come in because she will ignore the customers. Now on to the food. The sides are just okay nothing to write home about. I love there pork sandwich it’s full of meat with coleslaw on top… It’s expensive and will fill you up. The prices are not bad and you can get your food pretty fast here. If you are a smoke flavored bbq person than you are better off going to bludso’s because they smoke there meat a little to much for me. The ribs here are tender I have had the pork and the beef, the beef normally have a lot of meat on them.

This place isn’t worth one star. The lady who takes your order is a self-hating racist. If you’re white, you’ll get lovely service with a smile, everyone else has to order in a hurry and know what they want… She doesn’t have time for your questions, so you either know what you want, or she’ll make you feel stupid. There are two picnic tables outside where you can sit, «enjoy» your food and watch the freight trucks and crackheads roll by. The food is okay, but the entire experience will leave you feeling unwelcome. Guy Fieri really let me down on this one. If you want good barbecue, go to Bludsoe’s. That wait is ridiculous i fyou don’t call ahead, but you won’t have to deal with unacceptable service from some old aunt Thomasine

The best BBQ in town! You can choose the sauce spicy level. We brought our food to a brewery nearby and the people at our bench were calling dibs on left overs. It was sweet and delicious especially the beans. They added shredded pork which took it over the top! You can’t go wrong with anything choices there.

Ever since Hole in the Wall Deli shut down I’ve been searching for a suitable replacement that has good BBQ at a reasonable price. Towards this end I tried Jay Bee’s a couple of days ago as it seemed to have reasonably good reviews on Unilocal.Jay Bee’s is like a tiny rundown shack on the side of the road with exactly 3 parking spots in front and a couple of open air community benches on the side to enjoy your meal. At 11:30 a.m. on a weekend there was a line about 6 – 7 people deep so it does seem to be pretty popular, however they do a pretty good job of moving the line quickly so I was up in a couple of minutes. I generally start with beef ribs at any new BBQ place that I visit so I decided to get a large order of beef ribs($ 13.50) which includes 4 ribs and two sides. For the sides I went with baked beans and mac and cheese. The chatty elderly lady behind the register tried to make small talk while running my card but as I’m not too good at it, the interaction felt a bit awkward, but you can’t fault someone for trying. My order was ready in a couple of minutes after paying so no issues on the ordering front. Taste wise the ribs seemed to be cut a bit tight so they did not have too much meat on the bone but they were not the undernourished ribs that I’ve had at other places. The ribs had a decent smoke ring which suggested that the technique was right. The meat felt a bit dry so these were not the best that I’ve had but enjoyable none the less. The hot-sweet sauce was also very good and the ribs were nicely coated with the sauce. The baked beans were terrific — sweet and perfectly cooked. One of the best that I’ve had. I also liked the mac and cheese which had a very clean home made taste to it. The ribs also came with a slice of supermarket quality bread that was not buttered or toasted so was Meh. Pricewise it was about the average that you would pay for beef ribs($ 3.50 per rib) so even though it was more expensive than Hole in the Wall Deli it was comparable to other BBQ places. Overall I felt that this was good not great more like a 3.5 stars place so I’ll be generous and round that up to 4. I plan to return and try their beef brisket and links in due course at which time I will update my review accordingly.

This place has the best BBQ sauce. I think I still prefer Bludso’s because overall I think they provide better side dishes, but JayBee definitely trumps everyone on their sauce. There were times where I just wanted to go buy the sauce in bulk so I can slather it all over everything I eat at home. The last time I was there I ordered the chopped beef and pulled pork sandwich. Both were good, but the portions were small. Next time instead of ordering a combo, I’ll just have single meat plate and see if there’s a different in size between them. This is my second favorite place to get BBQ locally. Bludso’s first then JayBee’s.

This is hands down the best BBQ in Southern California. Order the BBQ pork sandwich. It doesn’t get any better them this. Now to the nitty gritty. This place is a bit«edgy». They take your order from behind bullet proof glass, it’s in «the hood» and the place is way past due for a remodel. But I live life on the edge. Man up and get you some.
