Staff is great, food is great –BUT– the restaurant stinks! They’re aware of it, and mentioned it’s and on/off smell; stinks like SEWER… That kills every good vibe you could have while eating. Management: fix this immediately!

This is the location in Gardena, on Redondo Beach Boulevard below UCI College, in the same lot with Staples, Ross, Goodwill. Plenty of parking as well as plenty of room inside, lots of tables and chairs to sit down. in addition to the tables and chairs they also have higher tables with bar stools. It’s a newer location with a contemporary setting. There was only one cook while I was there, I hope when the college let’s out they have more cooks or they must get really backed up. I ordered Island Fire Chicken, tasted sweet & spicy on a bed of cabbage, with the combo a scoop of rice and macaroni. I also ordered the Coconut Pudding to go, when I got to the car I noticed she had forgot to put it in the bag — it seemed that she knew I had forgotten it… when she saw me coming back in she turned around reached for it and just gave it to me…“So much for good customer service.” Never the less the food was pretty good!

Had the A1 teriyaki plate which was a lot of food. The dish looks appetizing and colorful. My chicken was salty though. Overall, the food was okay, nothing great. Don’t see myself going back.

I hadn’t had Hawaiian bbq from here in a long time and I was craving it today. I went to this location and it was a bit off, I remember it tasting so much better in previous occasions. Also, I’m pretty sure this is what upset my stomach! And this particular location smells so bad. Literally, like a clogged up toilet! Ehhhh!

Came here with some friends, as one of them had won a free lunch for everyone(woohoo!). I tried the Kalbi plate and ate *everything*. The macaroni salad needs a little more flavoring – but I was very happy with the Kalbi – it wasn’t overcooked, was perfectly seasoned and. just. perfect. The cabbage was also not overcooked and complimented all that meat on my plate. Wait, I did leave a little bit of rice. I was really full. I had never been to an Ono Hawaiian BBQ before. but after this trip, I am definitely a fan! If you love Kalbi, try theirs, they will not disappoint :0

Food is great but the service is rather slow. Every time I order a small bowl it seems to take longer than anyone else’s order.

My second time here and I won’t be back. Ordered the mini chicken breast plate and it was rubbery! The macaroni salad is bland. Nothing special here.

Came here for dinner, this is located in the center with Ross and UEI college you can see the center off the 110 fwy and Redondo Beach Bl. This is the same place as the one in Compton near Best Buy. It’s similar to L&L, this place is popular for the Hawaiian BBQ chicken. I got the Island White Fish & Hawaiian BBQ Chicken plate which included 2 scoops of rice and a scoop of mac salad they serve it with 2 pieces of fish and about 3 to 4 slabs of chicken so this is pretty filling. I do like the Hawaiian BBQ Chicken here over L&L. I’ll be back for more.

This Ono location is usually the type of place I give three stars and say it’s hard to review because it is so standard. The food is good, but not great. I really can’t describe the quality of the food because it’s within the range you would get at a typical Hawaiian place. This location is new and it is clean and spacious. The customer area is multiple times larger than the L&L up the street. If you are in that complex already, such as being a student at the vocational school, then it is convenient because you won’t have to leave the parking lot. However, if you have no business being in that complex, it’s near a busy intersection, and it’s hard toget in and out of during rush hour. So, depending on your situation, the location can be a plus or a minus. Normally, I don’t deduct for quantity, but the amount of food you get here seems less than its peers, and also higher priced. Less food and higher price only goes together when the food quality justifies it. The food here is good, but not enough to warrant both less amount and higher prices.

The restaurant is newly opened, very spacey and clean. Compared to L&L down the street I’ve been going to for years, Ono Hawaiian is slightly more expensive indeed. But I like to change it up where I eat a bit and since it’s closer to my house, I think it pretty much equates to gas value. Anyways! Based on the only on the three menu items I buy from both stores, here is what I think has the better food. Ono Hawaiian: — Teriyaki Chicken — Spam Musubi L&L: — Chicken Katsu Their rice and macaroni salad is very similar and their lettuce is large instead of diced. The teriyaki sauce in Ono Hawaiian is more thick and sweeter(and hot) than L&L, which is great! But yeah, I do agree the the portions here in Ono Hawaiian is much less than the L&L down the street based on the Chicken Katsu I ordered from here(portion of Teriyaki Chicken was the same as L&L though). But hey, my hunger is satisfied and I’m not overeating so I guess that’s a good thing. But forreals, their mini plates will definitely only feed one person in Ono Hawaiian while the mini in L&L would probably feed two.

Came here twice and have decided I don’t think I’m coming back here again… Let me begin by saying it’s a very clean spot and well kept and the service isn’t slow… With that being said, I feel like the meat they give you is noticeable less than L&L’s. I ordered the chicken katsu mini meal the first time and wasn’t satisfied with the amount of chicken katsu they gave. I returned a second time a while later and got the regular chicken katsu instead. The amount of chicken katsu STILL felt underwhelming compared to a regular at L&L’s so whatever. HOWEVER, as I started eating my meal, I noticed I was tasting a soggy texture. At first, I dismissed it thinking it was the rice being too wet. As i continued on with my lunch, I realized that this weird nasty texture had no place being in my lunch. I did a little investigating and found that the breading on the chicken katsu wasn’t fully cooked! WTFHOWDOYOUNOTCOOKTHATFULLY. THATCOMPLETELYRUINEDTHEWHOLEMEAL. Alas, I was kind and let the workers know that the breading wasn’t cooked all the way and they offered to fix it but I had no time for that since I didn’t want to wait some more. I mean, what did they expect? Me to drag out my lunch so they could rectify an error they made?! So very disappointed. I’ve never been to a joint where the chicken katsu is not fully cooked. Rookie mistake Ono, rookie mistake.

Had the hawaiian bbq chicken with a fresh mixed salad. Chicken was ok salad was horrible, I left still hungry. Next time I want hawaiian food I’ll drive to LL’s down the street.

I ordered the a Hawaiian BBQ plate but wanted to switch out the chicken for kalua pork. I work at a Japanese restaurant myself, so DIDNOT want any Teri chicken. Lady at counter already talked to the chefs to have it done for me which I thought was Awesome! She just needed to figure out how to add the charge. Another person who seemed be in charge goes on to tell me that they can’t do so simply because she didn’t know how to charge for it… Pretty disappointing because I had no problem at all paying extra what so ever. I was all ready to leave whatever money I was going to use to pay for my pork in their tip jar hoping they managed to do it for me anyway, but nope… Disappointed. Step up your customer service Ono!

Ono’s is Ono’s. I think they’re above average in comparison to most other fast food Hawaiian BBQ spots(cough) L&L. I’m just glad they finally put one near me.

The Island Fire Chicken is delicious. It had a sweet, fire kick! Very juicy and tender; meshes well with macaroni and rice provided with meal. Facility was clean. Customer service was fine.

Good Hawaiian-style food. The portions are large, the food is quite tasty and not as greasy as L&L. It’s a good value for the money. Staff are friendly and the service is excellent.

We were throwing a 5 yr old and 2 year old a luau co-birthday party this weekend and wanted to cater in Ono Hawaiian BBQ for the event. It was held in Manhattan Beach so I needed a close location since we had to pick up the catering. The party started at 10AM and we needed the food early. We initially called the Culver City location but they would not accommodate us because they do not open until 11 on Sunday and would still need to make the food and by then it would be too late. We then called the new Gardena location and spoke to Sophie(the manager) and told her about our situation. We were catering to 50+ people and needed to be able to pick up the food around 10:30AM. She was awesome! She staffed early to make the food and was happy to accommodate our pick up time. We had more than enough food and she included everything we needed, the plates, napkins, silverware and sauces were all there. The food was hot and delicious! Several people asked where we got the food because it was so good. I would highly recommend this place to anyone whether you are just eating for yourself or catering an event. Huge success!!!
