SMS reply from TC: sorry babe. it’s lunch, going to new ghetto rib in Compton.
SMS from lovely SO: If u bump music that loud ur gonna atract [sic] attention, be careful.
TC thinks to himself: they LOVE me in the ghetto. Shit, I should take off the pink tie /​blazer before they beat my ass for being a pansy.
Interlude:
Ms. Virginia Montgomery has owned Winfreys for 8 years. Winfreys itself been around for 30 years. You think after 30 years they’d know how to pump out some rockin’ Q? Not so much. First thing I see: no bulletproof glass (ahhh shucks! It’s not dangerous here???), cash only, rib tips and hot links combo??? Can we get a hallelujah??? Ribs and hot links o my! $ 5.50 got me a pound of jaw cracklin’ rib tips and spicy hot links!
Cept the hot links weren’t so «hot». The stuffing was a fine ground hence had the mealy texture I hate, while the ribs tips, tho completely caramelized and burnt crispy — yummy! — had zilch smoke. Why? Cheap on the wood chips? I mean…
And so it goes on the long march towards Good Q in The Hood. This is the only perk I get for working in Compton, 90 220.
