3.5 stars — rounded up to 4 because of the great customer service. I was visiting my parents for the day and decided to try out this Bonchon in Fredericksburg. I have had Bonchon many times before in northern VA(NOVA) at the original locations. I have to say that I’m disappointed in the size of the wings, they were definitely a lot smaller than the Bonchon in NOVA. With that being said, the crispiness and flavor of wings were very good. They were extremely crunchy with every bite. The fries were awesome and on par with the other Bonchon I have been to. The service was great, our waiter Matthew, was very nice and attentive. He frequently checked up on us and water was never below half. Overall, it was a great dine in experience. The only thing I had a concern with was the size of the wings. Definitely did not live up to the Bonchon standard.

Back for a third time with my daughter. Disappointed there was no childrens menu items. Had to order a regular fry for my 3 yr old who ate a handful. Also received a kids cup of juice which they charged me $ 3.25 for. Chickens still good but will probably do takeout from here on out. Service was still great.

Great Food! Our server was excellent and the atmosphere was wonderful. I would have been happier with more comfortable chairs but they offer booths as well. The prices were a little higher than I think they should be but the food was very authentic. My husband spent 2 years in Hokido Japan as a missionary and he said he hasn’t had Asian food this good since he was in Japan! I had the Chicken Katsu, it was a little dry but the flavor made up for that. Make sure you try this place at least once. We will definitely be going back!

Very tasty! I had the Bolgogi sliders. Delicious! Right balance of meat, cucumber and sauce. My husband and daughter had the ½ and ½ tenders. Half Soy Garlic and the other half Spicy. I didn’t try to Spicy but I had the Soy Garlic and they were delicious too. I hate dry chicken and these were definitely not that! I looked over and the next table and they had drumsticks. They looked huge. All around, the food was tasty and I would come back. By the way, if you’re on a budget and a diet, two people could eat the small serving of chicken tenders. It was pricey for fast food but I would still recommend it if you’re looking for some good fast food Korean.

If you’re interested in overly fried(everything), overly priced tiny portions, this is your place! Visited while on the road because of the misleading reviews. Their bowl dishes are as shallow as can be and their portions are bite size going for $ 10+. It’s easy to tell it is a matter of being cheap with their food and still charging what you’d be charged for a dish at a full on restaurant. We were extremely disappointed and even though we are never big eaters, we had paid upwards of thirty dollars for two small appetizer sized meals. We had to walk to the Noodle & Co. restaurant down the street to have an actual dinner.

Simply said… heaven on a drumstick! Everything was fantastic! You have to wait for perfection, so order an appetizer while you wait for the chicken and don’t go in a hurry. It’s so worth the wait! Call ahead works well, however!

Went here on the way down to Virginia Beach to pick up some wings on the way. I called hours before, and there was still a wait. Bonchon wings are always worth the wait though! Their seasoned fries are also pretty good for an on the road snack. :)

Wasn’t expecting the inner consistency of the Takoyaki. Potstickers(spicy and soy garlic), and bulgogi sliders are amazing. The wings are probably some of the best in the area. Make sure you get them half and half.

Great place, the seating area is a bit small and the prices are a little high or the fast(ish) food that you’ll be getting. But all in all, we were impressed by the friendly wait staff that gave us good recommendations and warnings about some of the food that some people may not have expected. I was excited for the salmon ball and was not let down in the least. It was a hefty portion of what amounted to the innards of a california sushi roll, wrapped in seared salmon, drenched in spicy mayo and eel sauce. We also got a beef dish that had a great flavor, as well as a portion on the wings. We were warned that the spicy wing sauce was a 10… I’m good at handling spicy foods for the most part but no champ. I can safely say that the spice was more like a 6 or 7 based on whatever nonexistent scale you chose. The amazing thing about the chicken, however, is the texture. It was fantastically crispy and smooth, almost like a double deep-fried tempura coating. And if you’re looking for a good deal for the price, get the 7 wings 3 drumstick combo. The drumsticks have a ton of meat on them, and the combo costs only $ 1 more than the 10 wing combo with much less meat. All in all, we will be going back and trying out some of the other dishes. However, we’ll probably resort to take out due to the dining area’s miniature footprint.

Second time visiting & I absolutely love this place. It’s hard to find authentic-ish Korean food places in this area of the country & they are pretty spot on. It looks like majority of their current business is take out orders & they have everything installed for when their liquor license is approved. Let me tell you their chicken will pair well with beer. Super friendly staff that still remembers me visiting the first time. I really hope they don’t lose that vibe & this place is an absolute 5 star must!!! Kimchi is fresh made & delish so bring all of your Korean cravings & give it a try.

Best service, very attentive. Love leaving these guys large tips. Food is good I love the TV’s. I go to Bonchon about once a week, I would go more often if they had WiFi. I eat alone at times and I like to tap into resturants WiFi. I love how they now offer fried rice with the lunch Special. They really listend to the customers by making that change.

Decided to stop in for a take out lunch. I love JapChae! It is my go to comfort food. I am just sorry to say is was a total loss for my taste buds as well as my wallet. It had no flavor. I felt like I was eating a frozen dinner heated up in the microwave. The only difference is the frozen dinner has more flavor. I will say be positive and that is the employees are very nice. I will not be back here because honestly, the thought of eating here again makes me ill.

I have been waiting for this place to open since I moved to the area in May. I have tried this chain in New York and Fairfax so I knew what to expect and the new location definitely delivered. I do remember the chain being a little bit on the pricey end, but the portions they give are enough to fill you up and leave you with leftovers. The skin is always fried perfectly: crunchy but not oily and the meat is moist. The pickled radish that comes with the half and half combo is a great palate cleanser. Personally, I prefer the soy sauce chicken since I can’t handle the spicy one. The flavors sound simple but they are addicting. Note: My boyfriend ordered take out for this branch hence I can’t really comment on their staff but I imagine they are equally amazing For my second visit, I decided to try some of their other entrees other than their infamous chicken… which turned out to be a mistake. The salmon avocado ball was a good appetizer but wasn’t anything special. It reminded me of something you can order at a typical sushi restaurant. The bulgogi is a sizzling plate of marinated rib eye beef with mixed vegetables. The meat was either not rib eye or it was of really poor quality. The sauce was special and the vegetables were just… well something you could probably whip up at home. I do not recommend ordering this dish, it will ruin your idea of bulgogi, which is actually a really delicious dish if prepared correctly. Word of advice: when going to bonchon stick their specialty — the chicken

The soy garlic sauce is addicting, that’s why I still go to Bonchon despite some outrageous prices. This location is tiny compared to other ones in the general DMV area — you can barely fit in a group of 4 on a weekday lunch. Also, I think 4 massive TVs in such a tiny space is ridiculous. The prices though… I know they vary by a couple dollars depending on location, but come on, $ 7.95 for the puny lunch combo of a side and 2 wings, 2 drumsticks?

We had the chicken wings two ways, spicy and soy/garlic. Crunchy and juicy but very sweet. Good service, food came out fast and hot. Had the salmon ball, really good. I saw some dishes other people were having that looked good so I guess I’ll have to go back and try other menue items.

I didn’t know what to expect when I walked in but based on what I have heard, I was pretty excited to try. I ordered the medium combo half and half which is wings and drum sticks with both flavors(soy garlic and spicy). When I first thought of wings and drumsticks I figured they were all standard wing size… o no I was wrong the drumsticks were huge! The soy garlic were my favorite and the spicy wow made my eyes water and mouth burn. I wasn’t expecting the heat that they had. The flavor was awesome but the heat was too much for me(I have attempted twice now to eat these and yeah bad decision haha). All the chicken was extremely crispy which I love and they were still crispy when reheated. I will and have continued coming back here! My mouth is watering as I am typing…

For anyone who loves Fried Chicken, this is the Korean version of it! They usually offer two main sauces: Soy Garlic or Spicy. Whenever ordering you can choose between one or the other or they even offer an option to mix and match flavors. To get the best bang for your buck, order WINGSONLY. My personal favorite is the Spicy; however, some of my friends have claimed that it was too spicy for them and that they prefer soy garlic. The sauces aren’t adventurous at all but taste Korean enough to let people from all cultures enjoy them. They do offer a variety of sides and appetizers including their Parmesan Fries! Yumm. drolling just thinking about it now. They do upcharge of rice. Highly recommend.

Figured I’d give this place a try and see what the big deal was. Their chicken is delicious. I kind of like it better than chicfila. My mom got the chicken strips — half spicy and half soy ginger. I didn’t think the spicy was too spicy but my mom almost had a cow so I’m not sure. Both were delicious though. The soy ginger had a better taste, in my opinion. I ordered the tofu bibimbap and it was so freakin good. I love love love the fried egg on top and the chili paste. Yum. Next time I want to try the japchae. Yummmmm. Service was pretty sucky but the food was good so I would definitely come back. :)

Apparently the place just opened a few days ago. We were seated quickly, despite the restaurant being pretty full. It may have just been our luck, as after we were seated it seemed like people had a short wait(as a line was forming). The staff was extremely friendly. Service was a little slow, but they just opened so I’m sure they will get it figured out. The food was OK. I had the Japchae with chicken. The noodles were done well but the chicken was a little overcooked it seemed. My wife had the House Fried rice w/Bulgogi. She seemed to enjoy it. I think I would give the place another shot, but it will be a while. For the type of restaurant it is, I believe it is a little too pricey for the food quality. We had two moderately portioned entrees, 1 soda, and edamame(because they were out of potstickers) for just over $ 40.00. I would compare this place to noodles and company, and I believe we would have spent about $ 10 – 15 less going there for similar dishes and portions. Give it a try, but I can’t say I’m highly recommending this restaurant today.

Bonchon came to Fredericksburg just a few days ago, so I thought I would take the opportunity to visit during the«soft opening. The restaurant is small and clean. The new staff were friends and helpful, but still learning. I appreciate their diligent effort. For openers, since they had sold out of potstickers, I tried the Shrimp Shumai. The Fried Shrimp Dumplings, crunchy on the outside and moist inside, were drizzled with honey dijon. They were okay, with a very mild flavor, but will not be one of my personal favorites. I ordered a small combo with half garlic-soy and half spicy. I was warned that the spice I 8 of 10 in hotness. The chicken was super crunchy and very moist inside. The sauces were excellent. Both had a sweet flavor an a touch of saltiness. The spicy was just that. I like the half and half option for sweet and spicy. The pickled radish was crunchy and sweet, a great pallet cleanser. The chicken fried rice tasted fresh and not too oily. Overall, I was very pleased and look forward to returning.
