Like others, I would’ve never stopped in for a meal had I not read the Unilocal reviews. The waitstaff was extremely helpful and the food was very good. I had one of the largest hamburgers I’ve had in a long while there, and I highly recommend it, especially if you’re really hungry!

Great service. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the food. I ordered the Cajun Chicken Sandwich and it was very salty and it was all I tasted. I didn’t like the portions of the sides either. I expected a nice handful of fries or veggies when I only received a carrot and celery the size of my pinky.

I’m so glad that I read the reviews because I NEVER would have walked in the door otherwise. The place looks really dark and outdated from the outside. Honestly, it’s a bit dim inside, too, but that is a part of the Friar theme. We were seated and waited on immediately. The food is really well priced, and just fantastic. I was eating with two picky teens who don’t like much, and they were really impressed with the menu and the food. The cheeseburgers, onion rings and fries were excellent. The best part is that 5 of us ate for under $ 50. Don’t let the underwhelming exterior fool you. Inside you will find fantastic and affordable food, and waitstaff dressed like monks.

We stopped here for lunch on the way back to Milwaukee from Appleton. After looking over the menu I was super excited to get a sandwich. They have really taken the Friar/monastery theme all the way. The décor is fun, but the restaurant is dark(as I assume monasteries are). The waitresses wear monk robes with rope belts. On the day we stopped two of the waitresses had on elaborate hats, which we found out later was for the Kentucky Derby. Fun. Our waitress was very friendly. I ordered the french onion soup and a roasted turkey on onion cheddar role sandwich. The soup was OK. After reading the reviews I was truly hoping that Friar’s tucks didn’t just throw some croutons on the soup and melt the cheese in a microwave like so many places do. Well that seems to be what they do. The onion cheddar roll was a little dry, but the sandwich was OK overall. Sandwiches don’t come with chips, but with a vegetable garnish with ranch dressing. The kale on both our plates was wilted and stuck to the plate. My husband, however, enjoyed his food quite a bit. He ordered the crab alfredo soup and the Friar Tuck club. The bowl of soup was heaping. Really closer to a casserole than a soup because it was so thick with lots of chunks of imitation crab. His sandwich was huge and he said it was good. I wanted to try the dutch apple crumble cheesecake, but after providing our to go boxes the waitress dropped the check and didn’t ask if we wanted anything else. Oh well. I didn’t need the extra calories anyway. I would stop here or another Friar Tuck’s again. My husband’s experience was much better than mine and I think I may have better luck ordering something else.

Food is great and reasonably priced. Staff is always friendly and courteous. If your looking for a place to grab a drink, some food and have a conversation. All at resonable prices. This is the place to go.

A nice place, but very dark, Friar Tucks is a great pit stop in Fon Du Lac. Prices are very reasonable, portions are nice and the staff is sufficient. One word of warning, the friar tuck hints at being a hamburger. It is NOT, rather it appears to be filled with a Salisbury steak patty!(Like from a frozen dinner). Stay away from that particular dish. The other meals were very good.

Your typical supper club style bar. VERYDARK! Food is atypical of the usual supper clubs of the era. I’m pretty sure they have the same waitresses working there since the place opened.

We stopped in for dinner after stopping in Fon Du Lac WI and a recommendation. Our server Christine was very passionate about the beer drink and food. She exudes a ton if personality. We ordered the Ruben and prime rib sandwiches upon Christine’s recommendation. The prime rib sandwich was delicious. Best I ever had. My husband loved it and he is not usually a fan if prime rib. Since we are traveling she even offered to go cups of whatever we wanted. 2 thumbs up here!

Stopped here for drinks, warning when you walk in on a sunny day you will be blinded by darkness. This is the darkest I have ever seen. It’s a bar /restaurant with a mix of young and older people. I look at the tapper when my eyes adjusted and saw spotted cow, yes that will do. They asked if I wanted to see a menu but I left my flash light in the car and said no. They were all friendly. This is a friar theme place with some woman wearing I guess friar out fits. The spotted cow came with a frosted glass and so did everyone else, I like a fresh frosted glass with each beer. Food was going out but I was just having drinks. Next time I will try the food. This was a kind of cool place to hang out.

Now. I’m a teenager, but I tip very well 25−35%. And the service was so shitty here that I didn’t even leave one. The waitress never came back to the table. And she gave me the wrong order so I had to wait around a full hour to get my correct food. None the less I was furious. I will never go back.

Seemingly a great place to cheat on your spouse. Good food – bar food – but probably the darkest restaurant I have ever been in. You could get away with all sorts of things in that lack of light. Really reasonable prices. Dinner for three with drinks – $ 42.

large portions, Everything was tasty, not at all bad prices, The place was half full but the service was spot on and very quick. I’ve eaten at Friar Tucks in Fond du Lac probably 10 times in the past 20 years, and I will return again.

I miss Friar Tuck’s! I haven’t been to Fond du Lac in quite some time, and I regularly think about hopping on a plane just to get some cheese nuggets and carrot cake. Food is so good, and so affordable. What more can you ask for? The interior is dark(no windows) and the wait to be seated gets long, fast. I do agree with a previous review — be careful if there is snow on the ground because the parking lot becomes a skating rink.

If you want a burger or a sandwich in Fond du Lac, find someplace else. The food quality is on par with with the rest of the geriatric-inspired menus at Oasis, Faros, Schreinders and Sebastian’s. Low quality food, relatively nice employees, and, of course, a bar to forget that you’re eating in Fond du Lac. Is that why its so dark in here? There’s a part of me that really wants to like Friar’s. I have family that enjoys this place, so I occasionally(and begrudgingly) join them. The waitstaff is friendly enough, but I just can’t get over the poor quality of the food. It’s like the people in the kitchen have no sense of taste. How can a burger be bland, have bland cheese on it, get no flavor from bacon, and then have bland barbecue sauce with it? I can’t fathom it. Flavor is not hard to achieve, but apparently they don’t get it. Maybe when the employees won the lottery, they should have spent less on their flashy diamonds(really, they flaunt it), and given the owners some money to bring in someone who knows how to cook. But that’s Fond du Lac for you: uninspired and bland. But hey, if you just want sustenance and your gruel isn’t cutting it, then Friar’s might be a step up.

Price, service & atmosphere are 5* — only the food quality gets 4* in my opinion. It’s fine, but menu & quality could be improved.

GREATSERVICE but fast food quality food in a sit down restaurant. Granted, the prices are similar to fast food but not what I expected. ORDERED: Appetizer breaded mushrooms — $ 2.95, Hamburger — $ 4.50 TASTED: The mushrooms were okay and arrived quickly after ordering. The hamburger was very small and dwarfed by a giant white tasteless bun. It had a side of lifeless vegetables with ranch dip. The little piece of celery I had begged me to put it out of its misery. It was white and lifeless. These are the little attention to details that I look for. THE place was packed and we even had a fifteen minute wait to be seated. The décor is really dark and the waitress monk uniforms are amusing. The prices are cheap and Wisconsin craft beers flow from the taps. Cheap prices. Best burger in Fond Du Lac as some say? Are there just not many choices?

Probably one of the best lunch places in FdL, and I’ve been to damn near every other one. Some highlights from their smallish menu: +Chili. Lordy lordy, their chili is fantastic. It’s the best I’ve had that wasn’t made by someone in a chili cookoff. It blows every soup the have right out of the water. +Chicken club on a croissant. The croissant is soft and buttery and the chicken is so juicy, grab a couple extra napkins. +Any of the burgers. Huge, juicy, lots of topping choices, and served on fresh baked bread. Primo. +Friar’s Club and Sherwood Forest. Don’t let the goofy names fool you, these sammiches are the real deal. Tons of meat, great bread, cheese and toppings. A meal in themselves. It gets quite busy at lunch, so get there early.

Awesome Sandwiches! Burgers are amazing — bread is freshly baked in their own bakery… Consistently the best sandwich in FDL.

Bring your sunglasses. Ask the wait staff where you can find a uniform like there’s to wear every halloween. Then ask them how much of their lottery winnings did they spend. its at this point you should ask for a menu. dont drink too many of the free refills, and prepare to be stuffed to the max as the food is usually very filling. the fries are huge and there isnt much on the menu that isnt good. there are enougfh tv’s to watch your favorite nasacr race or packer/viking game… oh yeah, there are no windows, you have just entered a cave. when you leave please put on said sunglasses because the sunlight will blast you and you will be blind for a few moments… unless its winter then you’ll bust your ass because they dont salt the parking lot very well. overall its probably the best cheap eats in Fondy. ha, i said eats.
