The best fast food in Fondy. Slider style burgers. Seasoned Fries. Chili. Cheeseburgers. Broccoli Cheese Soup. Onion Rings… are all fantastic. I’d take Tuckers over a McDs or Burger King any day.

A Fondy fixture for more than fifty years! The famous drive-in opened in 1963, but the roots go back even further, to a meat cutter who earned a navy Purple Heart when his destroyer was torpedoed in WWII. He brought the navy’s chili recipe with him and opened a restaurant in Fond du Lac when he came home. Tucker’s was opened in 1963 and took its name from a family nickname. Rudy’s chili is still a Fondy favorite. For years, it was known as Tuckers Toofers because the burgers were two for a quarter. Well, of course, those days are long gone, but Tuckers Hamburgers continues on with two locations in Fond du Lac. I always try to arrange my trips to Upnorth so either going up or down, I hit Fondy around meal time. While the south side location doesn’t lend itself to off and on Hwy 41 anymore(since WisDOT killed the 175 exit) the location on Johnson Street isn’t far enough off US41 to make it too inconvenient. The Tucker Topper is my burger of choice but it’s far more food than I’m capable of eating. However, the Tucker Junior is just about right! I haven’t tried the chili myself but everyone I know raves about it. Maybe next time I’m in Fondy, I’ll give it a try!

The home style burger? It is really greasy — in a GOOD way! You know, the mushy bun, squishy cheese feeling? Yeah– That one– Comes will a nice ¼ lb fresh ~not frozen~ beef patty, and GRILLED onions– Yummo! Seasoned fries were OK, but nothing you can’t get anywhere else– but come here for the BURGER– not the fries
