This is the best brisket I have ever had, it was phenomenal. That is the one positive thing I can say for my experience. I arrived 5 minutes before opening because I had heard once they sold out of something, it was gone. Upon arrival there was a note on the door saying they would be opening 30 minutes late due to a catering function. Ok, I waited. Once they did open there was a long list of things that weren’t ready and weren’t going to be ready for an hour… why open then? It’s ok, I really wanted to try the food and I told my family this is what I was bringing for helping me move. I ordered one of the large meals that sampled the ribs, chicken and pulled pork with two sides. Oh that’s right, the baked beans were good too. I also added a side order of the brisket. It was pricey meal, but I figured you get what you pay for. An hour and a half later they finally got my meal together. Check your food before you leave, because I was in such a rush after waiting so long, I left and didn’t realize until I got home that they forgot the pulled pork. I tried calling… over and over and over and over as I drove back. No one picks up the phone at this place. Once I finally did get through I explain what happened and the girl tells me to come back and get it. Ok. I’m pretty tired and miffed at this point because it really feels like more trouble than it’s worth and when I arrive back they tell me ‘oh we’re out of pulled pork’. WHAT?! I almost lost my mind when a girl walked up and said she had saved the last of it for me… what she had saved was a little Styrofoam cup of it, hardly what I felt I had paid for. I wasn’t offered any kind of compensation like extra food, a discount on my next order, hell I didn’t even get an apology! To top it all off, the little pulled pork I did get was dry, as were the ribs which were also tough. I am trying to be understanding of what may have been a bad day for them but the customer service was so bad I don’t have a desire to go back. Mission BBQ on Skibo has good prices, tasty ribs, moist pulled pork and OUTSTANDING customer service. Sure the Brisket isn’t AS good as fatbacks but I’d rather spend my money there.

We were told when we walked in that the wait times for food were running long, we were fine waiting especially knowing upfront about the wait. The place is a total disaster on the inside and we made the mistake of dining in as opposed to taking our food to go. The soda machine was broken and nasty and there was a cooler full of sodas with a do not touch sign. When we finally got our food we were told it would be a few more minutes for the kids grilled cheese. really? We could not think of a discernible reason a grilled cheese, which was actually a hamburger bun flipped around to make it look like regular bread, would take an extra 3 minutes except for the staff forgot to make it. The adult food was good but probably would have been better if we weren’t left imagining the conditions in the kitchen after seeing the dining room.

What can I say? This is to me hands down the best brisket period. I will keep eating it everywhere and I will let y’all know if I ever find any better. I don’t expect to. I have watched Corey on PitMasters, and been a customer since it was a wagon parked around Fayetteville. I have move East cost to West Coast in the past two years and I’ll tell you true nothing compares to his BBQ.

Foods old, place is dirty and the older women at counter is a grouch. Can’t call ahead because the lady says they don’t answer the phone.

Best Barbeque around. They know how to cook Barbeque the right way(Hickory+Charcoals+Sweet sauce= True Barbeque). The pulled pork sandwich and burger is killer. I highly recommend you give them a try if in area.

Yet again tried to eat at Fatbacks Walk in to order the music a bit loud Go to place our order and the counter girl snaps and yells I can’t hear you with a very ugly tone Most would have been a bit nicer and showed the customer a little respect But not here This is just the attitude as they don’t care whether you eat there or don’t eat there You would even think that the owner wouldn’t buggies pick up bread at the front door so that maybe his customers could be there Blatantly absolutely no respect don’t recommend anybody going to this food place If this is the respect they show their customers imagine the respect they show your food.

I don’t eat pork, but they had an awesome TURKEYLEG… loved it very meaty and just the right amount of bbq sauce. My son had a Carolina hamburger. enjoyed every bite. Great place Will return for more.

I wanted to try this place out for the first time. Unfortunately, as I was walking in to order, the cashier said they were closed. According to their hours online, they close at 8 pm on Saturdays. I asked about their hours today and the cashier mumbled something about closing early. As we were leaving, I saw one of the employees setting up cold bottled drinks on a table… I was really looking forward to trying the food, but am really disappointed about the short service we got. I mean really, it would have taken 10 minutes to get our Togo order, but they turned us and four other customers away.

So yummy! Ribs and the pulled pork are my favorite. I would get there early though as they only serve food till they run out. Definitely worth stopping by!

I hate to give such a bad review here but today’s visit was absolutely ridiculous! We were then second order at 1130am and waited 1.5 hours for our food which was in correctly typed into the computer. Every order came out before ours. Then, when we received our order it was missing the meat on the sandwich(I mean who would really order a grilled cheese here) and all our aides were completely wrong. They then took another 40 plus minutes to remake our food. When we then got our food for a second time we were shocked again that the meat was not tender at all. We have liked fat backs in the past but sadly enough we will no longer be visiting their store!

Best cornbread and pulled pork I’ve had! This place is a must stop if you are anywhere in the vicinity. Even the fries are great. The ribs look fantastic. Just the smell of the place makes you want to sit down and eat

I have had the pleasure of eating Fatbacks award winning ribs and pulled pork. I experienced his food first when he was in the shack at the Advance Auto. Nothing to complain about except that he ran out of food quick. He couldn’t smoke the food fast enough. When he moved into his restaurant, I was able to actually sit down and enjoy his food. The smoked brisket, chicken, baby back ribs, and pulled pork are all excellent choices. I am and will continue to be a loyal customer. You have your choice of sauces, vinegar or sweet. They are both his own creation and they fit well with his delicious food. When you order, they will ask you if you want sweet or vinegar, to which you can choose to not have either or have it on the side. The ribs are my favorite, hands down. Stop by and try, you will be back. Being on BBQ Pitmasters has only increased his passion for«smokin»!!!

The pork burger is where it’s at! I don’t understand why this place has as many bad reviews as it does. They only make a certain amount to make sure it is fresh daily. If you want to complain about that then go there earlier in the day. This is definitely my favorite bbq place in the area.

Excellent bbq joint… very friendly staff and clean restaurant. We tried the ribs, brisket and chicken. The ribs and chicken were perfectly cooked… tender and falling off the bone. The brisket was very meaty and wasn’t too fatty. The sweet tea was the perfect accompaniment to the delicious bbq. They even opened up the smoker while we were there so we got to see where the magic happens. If you want some award-winning bbq, come by this place!

We used to stop at Fatbacks now and then for a sandwich when they worked out of the trailer at the auto parts store so I was so excited when they opened the restaurant — even more so since it was only 2 – 3 miles from my house. But it turned out to be very disappointing. Since they opened, we’ve been there about 6 times. Not once did we leave truly happy. The order would be wrong(wrong sauce, wrong side, something…) or in one case my brisket was almost entirely fat. The potato salad, cole slaw and corn bread are just pitiful. For the price you pay, you want some homemade food. The portions are very very small for the price as well. I remember, while living in Texas, going to bbq places for lunch with $ 10 and leaving with a full belly and a to-go box. You won’t find that here. It’s a darn shame. I actually wouldn’t mind paying $ 20 for a big ol’ plate of brisket with some GOOD homemade sides.

BBQ Pit masters is where I learned about this place. When I ate there they were will still serving out of a trailer. They had a location scoped out for their business but were not close to moving in. My goal was to try their award winning ribs. But while there I also tried the pork baked beans and potato salad. Unfortunately for me it was hot day and no place to eat other than my car. There was too much food to make this a good experience. The pork… it was covered in sauce, NOT how I like it. Give me the sauce on the side and I’ll decide if I want to use it and how much I use. The sauce over powered the meat so I really couldn’t tell you how good the meat was. I do like wet ribs. So here we were ok. I guess hit them on a good day because the ribs were very good and well worth my detoured trip to try them out. I’d say they lived up to the expectations I had after watching them in the competition on TV. Yes the review is late compared to when I ate there. But I am trying to capture places that might not be able to visit again because travel doesn’t take to that area often. July 18, 2012

I saw Fatback’s featured on Food Network several months ago and was excited to give the award winning BBQ a try. I am from NC and thought that I would be getting NCBBQ but it was definitely not what I expected. My husband I I both ordered the pulled pork dinner plates. While the pork was tender it was flavorless except for the sweet sauce covering it. I was hoping for a vinegar based BBQ. Our sides were not that great and must have been prepackaged. I was hoping the food would be better but this just wasn’t my thing.

I prefer sliced brisket over chopped, but it was tasty The pulled pork was decent, but I can make better. The ribs were good, and not too mushy. I would have liked if they had sauce options available at the table. Sometimes competition is hard to translate to a crowd.
