We come for the fried chicken and always the fried chicken! I love to get the 8 Tub &Trim for around $ 13. Eight pieces, hush puppies, and two sides, it’s a great deal. We usually use the drive through, and one thing that makes this place unique is the customer service. It is so consistently borderline bad, it’s hilarious. Seriously, service is quick and they always get the order right, but every single person at the window has acted as if we had just insulted them. With this degree of disdain that they’re poorly masking. I still give give five stars because the fried chicken is the best in these parts and they really do crack me up with the service. I think it’s part of their training… please, don’t ever change.

I got the family pack of bbq. It was $ 15. It came with bbq, slaw and hush puppies. The bbq had way too much vinegar. The slaw was runny and hush puppies were burnt on the outside and raw inside. They won’t be getting my business again. I will go next door to the Cook out. Their bbq and slaw is way better and cheaper too.

«Down home kind of hole in the wall» is a perfect way to describe this place(nods to Melinda B), and I absolutely love it. BBQ restaurants absolutely must have that essential dive-y atmosphere to work properly, and the Hut does not disappoint here. But the food is where the rubber hits the road, and the Hut was on point. The ‘Q was tender, flavorful and melt-in-your-mouth, with just the right seasoning to tickle the taste buds. The sides rounded out my meal perfectly, and the sweet tea was sweet, the way God meant for tea to be.

If you’re in the mood for southern BBQ this is a good choice. The neighborhood is kinda sketchy but I’ve seen worse. I suggest bringing a friend lol. It’s pretty busy around lunch time too. Just take a few extra minutes and prepare for a wait.

I am just visiting after being away from The Carolinas for years and I wanted some Carolina BBQ. Obviously this place is a down home kind of hole in the wall, so the atmosphere is nothing fancy but the food(meat) was good! The fried chicken and BBQ was really. The hushpuppies and sweet tea were good too, but the potato salad and collard greens weren’t all that great. The breading on the chicken was very different from the norm and gave the chicken a great flavor. The people working there lacked enthusiasm, but they weren’t rude or anything and provided quick and polite service.

The barbecue is alright, though not outstanding. It’s appropriately moist and has a decent pork flavor with no smoke detectable. They offered straight cider vinegar and a darker vinegar as sauces. A hotter sauce would have been nice. The sides were pretty good and the hushpuppies were actually very good. Not a bad place, but nothing I would get excited about. If we were in the area and wanted decent ‘cue at a reasonable price, we would go here, but it’s not a place we would make a special trip to.

We always stop at the Bar B Que Hut on Owen Dr. on our way to my parents house for Thanksgiving. The Q here is great, eastern NC style, but the Bar B Que Hut’s is a tad more peppery than some eastern NC barbeque. The ‘cue sandwich with slaw is great, as is the often overlooked fried chicken, maybe the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. But I’m such a fan of the ‘cue I don’t order it as much. Though it’s owned by a Greek-American this place is a great southern joint. Not fancy, but with excellent barbeque, chicken, great slaw, and little batches of plainly served and displayed — yet heavenly — cups of ‘nana pudding. As others have noted, sometimes the women at the register can be a little off, but remember they are in Fayetteville! Bar-B-Que Hut is one of the few things I miss about my home town.

I live in Kansas City and love the bbq here but I set out on a quest 2 years ago to consume the 4 pinnacle regions of BarBQue. KC, Memphis, Texas, & Carolina. Carolina completes my quest and The Bar-B-Que hut is Carolina restaurant to complete it. Boy was I not let down! Pulled Carolina pork soaked in a vinegar bbq sauce was amazing. I don’t think I can ever eat pulled pork any different. Awesome place and great staff!

I came to Fayetteville in 2008 and asked the hotel staff were to get good authentic barbeque and they recommended the Bar-B-Que Hut. I wasn’t disappointed. The barbeque was genuine eastern NC style tender and vinegary. The sweet tea was just the way my grandmother used to make, sweet enough to rot your teeth out. The hushpuppies were perfect, slightly sweet perfect texture and moist. Today I returned to Fayetteville for the first time since and immediately went back to the Barbeque Hut. In addition to the pork barbeque I tried the fried chicken and the baked beans in addition to the cole slaw I remembered so well. Again, this place took me back to my grandmother’s cooking, not greasy or dry, the chicken was perfect. You can’t get anymore perfect barbeque, and the sweet tea is as good as I remember. As for the negative reviews… this is a hole in the wall neighborhood place. The best barbeque always comes from places like this, it’s no frills. You can get a Large Barbeque plate for under 7 dollars and there are free refills on the sweet tea. Coming from New York this place is a fantastic deal.

I’ve been to the Bragg Blvd location twice and wasn’t impressed at all, but after doing a little research on NC bbq, I decided to try it again in case my lack of knowledge caused me to miss something. The salty lady at the counter had a bit of an attitude, but wasn’t rude. Kinda adds character to the place if you want to be positive about it. Got the large bbq plate with chicken. The bbq… I realized I wasn’t missing anything the other two times I tried it. I just didn’t think it was good at all. Pork is rather flavorless… there’s the sweet tasting vinegar and pepper, which I could see but not really taste. There were some harder textured outer bits. But… it just tastes like it’s missing something… or a lot. Eh… Fried chicken… was pretty darn good. Nice and crisp and salty. The breast was moist and tender. Hush puppies… nice corn taste… texture would’ve been better if it was straight out of the fryer. Slaw was finely chopped and refreshing. Potato salad was potato salad. Sweet tea was decent. I’m still not impressed and I think I’m done with this place. Even though it’s not NC style, I’ve had much better pulled pork at Smokey Bones…

A pass at first glance but well worth stop! I was in town on business and this place was walking distance for lunch. There are apparently two locations, one is right near FTCC. The day I went they had the pork chop plate special, but I’d heard the fried chicken was good as well… so I got both. It was artery clogging Heaven! The fried pork chops were so tender and the grease was definitely not old or burnt and the pork chops didn’t taste like chicken and vice versa, so not sure what they’re doing back there but it’s spot on. The large plates come with two sides, hush puppies and that day they had collard greens as one of the sides. The chicken snack was two pieces of chicken and a few hush puppies. They were out of carbonation that day so I opted out of their pepsi products. All in all it’s a great, inexpensive bite to eat if you aren’t trying to be health conscious.

I think the first thing you have to know if you want bbq is what kind you want. There are two types of bbq native to NC. Eastern is mostly Vinegar. Lexington(I think that’s the name) is vinegar and a tomato type sauce. I think they use a different cut of meat too. I grew up around this area and really only ever had Eastern NC bbq, so I prefer it. So, the reviews that talk about it being too much vinegar or no bbq just don’t realize there’s more than one type of NC bbq. If you like the vinegar bbq, then you’ll love this. I’m not even a huge bbq fan, but I love this! I probably shouldn’t give it 4 stars because it is a little run down after all these years. I used to go there as a kiddo, and it’s about the same! The food itself deserves the stars, so I’m going to keep it. I hope you’ll at least give it a try!

I don’t know what the other reviewers are expecting when they come here. It’s Eastern Carolina style BBQ, which is pulled pork with vinegary sauce. You’re not gonna get brisket here(although they did have ribs when I went in today, which surprised me). And all good BBQ that I’ve had ALWAYS comes from some crazy-looking shack. I LOVE this stuff. I don’t really get any hint of smoke at all, but I just want the pork and the vinegar anyway. If I want smoky I’ll smoke and pull it myself. Nothing’s better than a soft burger bun stuffed with vinegar and pork so sloppy it falls apart midway through. With some coleslaw and fries and HUSHPUPPIES of course! Dang, if you get them fresh those hushpuppies are the best thing there. The sweet tea is good too. I prefer this location because it’s close to where I live, but my sister likes the other location. Either way, this is the first place I hit whenever I come back here. Large plate with slaw, pups and fries and a sweet tea please! And banana pudding if I’m still hungry after all that dinner.

First of all… WHATBBQ??? There wasn’t any BBQ! However, the BEST fried chicken. The outer fried skin was so crispy and good. I don’t know how the previous person that wrote a review could compare it to KFC! It was so much better. The coleslaw, baked beans, potato salad, and hush puppies were great. The reason it got only 3 stars is because of the pork. Way too over powering on the vinegar… and once again… where’s the BBQ???

The pulled pork sandwich was plain, the slaw… not worth the time. The fried chicken was quite good… really fresh, a light crispy dredge on the outside gave the chicken a great fry. I probably wouldn’t go there again, but if I was forced to, I’d get the chicken.

After my buddy chose a bad BBQ place last time, I read great reviews about the Barbeque Hut on yahoo and the one location on Bragg Blvd here on Unilocal. But when we arrived to see the shack of a place it was in, and the empty parking lot, we questioned whether we had the right place or not. We went inside to give it the benefit of the doubt. Inside, it’s rundown, or just a hole-in-the-wall type place, although I thought this was a chain restaurant since there are multiple locations. It reminded me of my Grandma’s chinese take-out restaurant. The menu board was one of those old cheap kind where you place each lettter, and some of them were of different color because they ran out of a particular letter. This place just straight out costs too much. We were hoping to find some good, genuine North Carolina BBQ, but the food was not up to par. We paid around $ 8 for a drink and a styrofoam plate with one fried chicken breast, some pulled pork that had too much vinegar and not any typical bar-b-que sauce, some hush puppies(bite-sized fried cornbread) and 2 scoops of our choice of side dishes. We could have gotten a bucket of KFC for half the price. That was the first and last time we’d be there.
