Simply love their walnut chicken. They are just down the street so I usually get take out. The food is very hot and delicious.

My experience last night with a take-out order was horrible. The wonton soup had the most bland broth I’ve ever consumed, along with only 6 Barbie sized wontons. The Mongolian beef barely had any beef and most of the onions weren’t cooked nearly enough. The Szechuan chicken was seasoned well but the actual pieces of meat were questionable. 3⁄5 bites I took of the meat had hard pieces in them! I couldn’t eat any more of the dish after that, I was completely grossed out. I’ll give two stars for the large portions and how quickly the food was ready.

Have been going to hunans for over 10 years. I can’t remember any bad experiences. Food is great. Prices are good I would go as far as saying it’s the best oriental food in Eureka overall. Must try triple delight and prawns in chile brown sauce(not on menu but they’ll make it for you).

Really the best Chinese chicken salad in town. This place is always quick — and reasonably priced. There may be some valid criticism that many of the sauces taste alike, but my family loves their brocolli beef and kung pao chicken. The place is clean — and well located in Henderson Center. Almost always plenty of seating available and the staff is friendly.

Very disappointing. The only flavor that came from all the dishes was salt. The service is very poor, we waited 15 minutes just to get a menu and there was only another table with four people.

Always amazing! Been coming here for 15+ years. Great family owned authentic Chinese food– take out and dine in is fast, and quality always yummy. Definitely recommend to friends/family!

The food was not horrible but I have definitely had better. Especially for $ 50!!! They were quick on delivery. I was upset that i ordered the fried won tons and rather than a fried won ton with all the yummy stuff on the inside I got 12 flat fried pieces of… well nothing. Go figure since they were only about $ 2 for 12. The chicken with broccoli was mainly broccoli with a few, literally only a few pieces of chicken. And the beef with broccoli that I ordered somehow came with onions instead. Like I said given it was not completely disgusting… it could have been better for the price.

Disappointing change. This used to be my favorite Chinese restaurant, but the last time, the food had definitely gone way down hill. In particular, the hot and sour soup was so bad. This used to be my favorite thing about going, but this time, it was so bland it could almost have been egg drop soup. I feel like a part of me has died, as this really was one of my favorite spots for years. Shame.

If I could give it 0 stars I would. I used to get takeout from Hunan a lot and thought the reviews were just odd incidents. But, I have learned that it is under new ownership and it is now terrible. The wonton soup was the worst I have ever eaten. It tasted like hot water. And they no longer put pork in their wonton soup. The beef and broccoli should be called broccoli with very little beef, since there is very little beef. Avoid this place you will only be disappointed.

This place can be so good when they want to be. And then one day you go in there and you get something completely different, random and it is not that good. They’ve got a decent atmosphere great hours, considering it’s in Eureka, but they’re so inconsistent. And that is unfortunate because when they do it right it’s really, really good!

Hunan in Arcata is amazing. However the one in Eureka was terrible. My Husband thought the chicken tasted off and my food was sat in a pile of sauce that looked more like gelatin… gross. However, the crab puffs and hot & sour soup were good. I will be sticking with the Arcata location from now on.

Szechwan Beef is the best I have ever had probably. Crispy and spicy and sometimes getting it extra crispy and spicy is nice to up the heat. Have been coming here for it since early 2000’s. Never a bad meal.

BLAH!!! I think I’m going to go visit the China buffett and this horrible taste out of my mouth I ordered tea they brought me the brisk sweetened powder in water … uh hello this is a Chinese restaurant you are suppose to have good tea. Second the hot and sour soup was hot and sour puke… it had no taste or flavor I had to dump white pepper and chili paste in it I came here 3 or so months ago and the food was good … but Idk what happened. The waitress was nice that was the only positive. Seriously people do not waste your money here! Go anywhere else lius, gonesa hunan plaza north town … hell the Chinese place in the mall is better than this

Don’t waste your money. Ordered take out king poa chicken, crab cheese puffs, and wonton soup. The kung poa chicken was filled over halfway with barely cooked, roughly chopped carrots, some whole peanuts, and a thin flavorless sauce with a sadly small portion of chicken. Crab cheese puffs were mostly fried wonton with little stuffing. Wonton soup had watery broth and was just plain. Don’t order take out from here. I won’t be going back.

Horrible. I ordered the shrimp with cashews in brown sauce. Didn’t say what veggetables came with it but I was expecting an assortment and it was just carrots… not only that but they were not even cooked and the whole container was carrots. and 4 shrimp. Boyfriend got the mosho beef also only had 5 pieces of shriveled up beef and the rest was cabbage. The sizzling soup we ordered not only had one piece of shrimp one piece of what I think was chicken and one single mushroom, but it wad tasteless. Like water. Will never go back here again

I like Hunan. They are consistent. Consistently good. All the dishes are well seasoned with generous proportions. Many vegetarian options and some unique things like sizzling plate dishes. Like their egg rolls, rice dishes and many spicy offerings. Friendly staff at the Henderson center. A local staple.

This is the only place in Humboldt that has decent Chinese Chicken Salad; other places don’t compare. Also, the only waitress that I ever see working there is really sweet and always remembers my name when I come in. That being said, the salad is the only thing I order because everything else is drenched in a weird, dark sauce. They literally put it on everything. It’s pretty hard to like anything else if it’s all coated in a sauce I don’t like. The inside needs to be redecorated, the upholstery is coming apart in the booths, you can tell no work has been done to the inside since it opened about 25 years ago.
