So i gave up coffee years ago BUT this is the ONLY place you can get a mexican mocha and while visiting Denver I had one every day and could totally have had a second cup. I love this place!

The gals here are soooo sweet! The best is the Mexican mochas and mexican hot chocolates. I tried a sample of the almond poppyseed muffins and they are so fresh! A must try place!!!

This quaint location was a great way to start a day off. I had the 44 special which consisted of 3 slices of crisp bacon, 2 slices of brioche French toast topped with dices strawberry’s and powdered sugar and scrambled eggs with a side of syrup and green Chile. The food came out fast and delicious. Great place to come for a peaceful relaxing breakfast. They have so much more to try on there menu. Definitely will becoming back for lunch.

I found a Groupon for this location and decided to try them out. I had their special called the 44. It was brioche french toast with diced strawberries, 2 scrambled eggs and 3 strips of bacon. The price for the food was very reasonable for the amount you received. While looking at their menu I saw a variety of other delicious sounding lunch foods, that Im sure will bring me back.

This place is local, quiet, and serves good food with great coffee! The girls that run it/serve are quiet but very friendly. You can use their free wifi to work. It’s a nice place to get coffee to go, have a business meeting or work there for a few hours. I like their turkey pesto sand which and breakfast sandwiches! Just needs a patio bigger then the few tables.

Great little family neighborhood deli/restaurant. We love the tea, coffee, and atmosphere. They will custom make any sandwich for you. The 44 breakfast is simple but amazing. Wish this area had more locations like this instead of all the chains coming in… check it out!

I love coffee here, it fresh and tasty, they also have some nice muffins and croissants. The staff are mostly pleasant and friendly. The bar has a big downside that you can easily find available seats. if you have laptops, this is a perfect place for you to work, it pretty quiet here.

At a time on a Sunday morning when most of the brunch/breakfast spots on Tennyson are jammed, Café 44 is doing a brisk businesses but with seats available for those that want them. There is a mix of jazz and pop standards playing, and outlets at the bar along the window if you need a place to bring your laptop. The food is decent and very reasonably priced, although I’d say the toast options are a better deal than the breakfast sandwich. Nothing is going to knock your socks off, but it won’t leave you sad you spent you’re money either. I can’t say about the coffee, but the tea is loose leaf and decent. You get a small personal pot with about 2 ½ mugs worth in it. It’s not the place to go and gush over the trendy food. It’s where people in the neighborhood, from retired couples to middle aged to moms and kids come to sit, eat, and enjoy the morning. And on a fall or winter day the sun comes putting in the windows.

Cute little café. Great sandwiches, breakfast & lattes. Chicken pesto sandwich is very good! Fried Egg toast only $ 3.50 and Delish for breakfast!

Notes before I start: Gluten-free options(lots of them), street parking(get there early)! Okay, which is how I would describe the food and although I would come back here to eat the food again it wouldn’t be my first choice. I had the smothered burrito, standard sized and it was okay for the most part(kind of bland needed a lot of chalula sauce) but the place was dark and eerie feeling and the wait staff just didn’t seem all that happy to be there.

The mexican coffee was pretty good. I had never had it and will try it again. The smothered breakfast burrito was a different story. Very bland, no seasoning, raw potoates and the green chilli was like water with no flavor at all. Very disappointing and not a good experience. Giving it one star because it is required to submit the review.

Service was fine, but the coffee tasted like bank coffee and the breakfast burrito was woefully flavorless. Troy’s review: meh. Conner’s review: sandwich was average. Drink N/A Cory’s review: where’s my green chile in my green chile burrito OKB review: coffee was warm I guess.

The mixed reviews I’ve read are prompting me to re-examine my next visit with as harsh a light as I can summon, but I’ve already been coming to this shop since for many years, since before the remodel and merging with Charlies. I live in the neighborhood and also pass that intersection frequently both driving and biking. to address the coffee: I’ve never had a bad coffee or espresso drink here, nor had drinks not made to proper barrista specs, nor anything not to my liking. I consider myself a bit of a coffee snob when I can afford it, but I don’t hold everyone to the same standards. I don’t care much for what’s served by Starbucks or most other national chains. I’m fond of Coda coffee, but I don’t mind Dazbog, and I like a lot of other local small roasters and coffee shops. I don’t recall whose coffee Café 44 uses, but I’ve never objected to the roast or flavor. to address their food: I’ve never had anything I objected to or was disappointed by, but then I’ve never expected terribly haute cuisine because of the price point they’re playing at, in this neighborhood, they’re cheap. to address their service: I’ve never had to wait more than a few minutes, but somehow I seem to have consistently missed the periods when they’re busy. Staff don’t always ladle on a sacharine sweet greeting if they are temporarily harried, but no one has ever been unfriendly, unprofessional, or discourteous. Usually I –do– get a smile tho. I take strong notice of customer service, I’m rather old-fashioned that way. Café 44 are a small shop, with a small staff as is usual with small, single, locally-own shops, so I take that into account. If I’m in a hurry and a shop has more business than they can handle, I move on down the road… So, my experience has been positive, but because of some of the howlingly negative reviews, I’ll try hard to give them a thorough re-examination next time I’m there, which is coming up soon anyway… PS: never had a dirty or sticky table, and I would have mentioned it immediately, or just asked for a damp rag if they were busy and wiped it myself, becuz, well, that’s the way I am in a shop in my ‘hood that I want to support /see succeed. Haven’t had to that I can recall, in the past ten years…

A mixed bag, but overall I’d come back. I had the 44 special, French toast w/sliced strawberries, eggs, meat, chili(green). I also ordered piñon coffee, and the hummus plate for a later lunch. The coffee was a nice change from the usual. I didn’t add cream nor sugar, which is unusual for me. I’d come back just for that. Breakfast was tasty-but. The French toast was crispy on the outside and soft not-soggy on the inside. Perfect. They aren’t generous with the strawberries, but it worked. The sausage was a really tasty and not-greasy sage-based patty, which worked well with the piñon coffee and green chili. Chili had little flavor but it did have that nice kick at the end, and I surprised myself by finishing it. My over-easy eggs were greasy and delivered over-medium. So, tasty but with a few more buts than I’d have liked. It’s a weird combination of quality and corner-cutting. Real butter, but fake«maple» syrup. Pray that one little napkin will do you — but the napkin, wrapped around your fork, is closed with a custom sticker. That hummus plate is huge! I haven’t tried it, but if it’s at all good it’s worth splitting with a friend. I used a Groupon, and it was easy and drama-free. I’ll come back even without a Groupon, but may try other things.

The hubby and I came here with a groupon. We shared a breakfast burrito, breakfast tacos, and a cappuccino. The burrito was great! Perfect portions of eggs and potatoes in there. For the breakfast tacos we wanted no meat, so they added some tomatoes for us. They were so yummy! The salsa on the side was much hotter than I like, so I just added a tiny bit, but the flavor was excellent. Our cappuccino was beautiful and so delicious! We tried a sample of the brownie and had to get one to go. Great place for a casual coffee and breakfast.

Perfect brunch on a sunny day!

One star based solely on coffee. The service wasn’t too great either. Ordered two take-out lattes and waited 10 min while the staff served others that ordered after us. Coffee was definitely not up to snuff with so many other great places around — left me wishing I got a Starbucks. We will update when we try the food…

My husband and I live in the hood and decided to try this place out since we didn’t give Taza a shot. We came in for breakfast, we weren’t greeted so we seated ourselves. Three minutes later, a lady asked if we were waiting for anyone(at our table of two…) Clearly that was our cue to order at the register. After she took our order, we tipped her in hopes of better service. She didn’t bother to come back and check on us after she dropped off our food and on top of all this, we had to bus our own tables. We will not be returning, we will share this experience with our neighbors and suggest they go to The Noshery up on Lowell instead.

I’m craving a Taza sandwich all the time. It appears like a coffee shop but has amazing sandwiches. Taza is usually quiet and with free wifi there are commonly people working quietly on computers. I get the pesto chicken sandwich or the mateo. The bread is great, the chicken is quality grilled meat. Full of flavor. I get it togo and only takes a minute. Sooo good.
