Not happy. To start with Parking was a problem. Papad was give to start with and it was good. We ordered biryani and they delivered it quickly. Raita(yogurt side dish) was tasting very sour as it became old. I ordered Veg Biryani and its spoiled. I guess it was made couple of days back and presence of uncooked cucumber/squash made it taste and smell bad. Quantity did not justify $ 16 tag. My friend had chucked biryani and he did not like it too. We went there by looking at Unilocal reviews but the reviews are misleading. DONOTHAVE veg biryani because I believe very less people order it. If the owner is reading this message and I would suggest to take veg biryani out of the menu

I’ve ordered delivery from here several times and love their food. The naan and curries are fab.

Best Indian food I’ve had in so long! I ordered chili shrimp and there were so many jumbo shrimp I had to bring some home. This place is worth every penny. The service was fantastic which was a great match with the delicious food. This will definitely be one of my go to restaurants.

Deserted on busy Friday night. Filthy menu, dirty floors. Overpriced food. It’s a shame because its on a very busy street in lower Greenville. Food was descent at best but not worth the price. I think they could do better for having such a prime location.

Guys, I’m addicted! I knew this place was golden when my man mentioned a «next time». Absolutely loved the butter masala, with all its creaminess and the naan was the perfect texture. Definitely sticking with the garlic naan because it was amazing. The staff were very kind and the restaurant itself was very clean and nicely presented. I wanted to come back the next day!

Excellent food and service. It was my girl’s first time eating authentic Indian food, and she absolutely loved her order of Shahi Paneer. My Chicken Biryani was on point with the perfect level of spice. Be sure to check Shivas out for your Indian food fix!

I was blown away with the food here! I am a huge Indian food lover, so I had high expectations and they were exceeded. In all, my table ordered the Assorted Appetizer Platter, Korma, Eggplant Peanut Curry, Tikka Masala and Vindalooi. Our food came with rice and garlic naan. The flavors in every dish were well developed and perfectly paired. The bread was nicely charred and had the perfect amount of garlic. The only thing I did not try was the Assorted Appetizer Platter because all the vegetables were deep fried and that does not appeal to me. I had the Eggplant Peanut Curry and requested to have my Eggplant sauté in a minimal amount of oil instead of being lightly fried and they happily fulfilled this request. In general the staff was accomadting and attentive but not overly so to where it was intrusive. As for the atmosphere, the inside is okay, nice, but not special. However the patio is a great place to sit in the evening and people watch while enjoying your delicious food. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will be returning in the near future!

Let me start off by saying, Shivas is the best Indian restaurant I have found in Dallas. The ambiance is traditional and welcoming, and the food is fantastic. Rice is brought for the table and you can also order various types of naan – the garlic naan is especially tasty. You can adjust the spiciness of your food as well. I have been here many times now, and I remember the very first time I came the service was a bit slow. I’m so glad I returned for the food though, because in all my subsequent visits, the staff has been increasingly attentive. The service has always been great since, and you can tell the management responds well to feedback. Shivas has become a regular spot for me, and I would recommend it to anyone who loves Indian food or wants to sample a new cuisine. 5 stars!

Love this place. The food is great, the service is warm, friendly and caring and it’s a fun location. I like to sit outside when the weather is nice. Inside is nice as well. It’s owned by an Indian family so it’s authentic!

Great place for Indian food. We had the lamb samosas, which is not common in most Indian restaurants. We also had chicken korma which was amazing. This is definitely going to be are spot when we crave Indian food. The owner was a real nice guy too…

The food tasted very good. However, the service was very slow. I ordered lamb and was brought chicken and couldn’t return it because nobody came back by to check on us. There is nothing special about the interior. I probably won’t go back. Sadly had to deduct a star as my boyfriend got sick within an hour of eating and hasn’t left the bathroom since. I feel especially bad as he ate his food and then my food(since they brought me the wrong meal). I really wanted to like this place, but nope! Sorry. Never going back now.

Indian people/People who like authentic and/or spicy food — This is not the place to go if you are looking for good Keema naan(so very dry and hardly any meet) or spicy dishes. My mom and I make better dishes at home. I love spicy dishes and their Vindaloo chicken curry(ordered at 10⁄10) is more like a 6 or 7 in my book. All — Overall the service is good and friendly and the location is great. It’s a good place to go to get your sudden indian food fix. Their garlic naan is pretty tasty and fluffy.

So i have to start that this use to be my go to Indian place in the uptown/greenville area. I started going there about 6 months back and while the prices were a bit high the food was great so i didnt mind paying extra. Fast forward to now and its not even close to the same. They use to give ample pieces of chicken for their tika masalla dish and now has less then 10 pieces. I feel like every time i order the quality goes down. The owners and staff are very nice but i guess this tends to happen once a place gets somewhat established. This last time i ordered i actually made a note to make sure to have enough chicken, not only was there not enough but the chicken was burnt, the nan was so dry that it literally fell apart. this was all take out, if i was dining in i would have sent it all back. I have added some pics. Its too bad that they didnt keep things the same.

This is the best Indian food I have ever found, not only in Dallas, but anywhere Period. This family’s food is an upscale and decadent celebration of flavors and spices that is very hard to find. I once dined here with a seasoned lover of Indian cuisine who remarked upon his first bite, «Oooh, wow, this food is made with love.» You’ll find black table clothes with white linens, the most polite service, and I’ve frequently heard them happily answer the questions of newcomers with recommendations. I highly recommend the Chicken Coconut Masala. You won’t taste coconut, but you will find an incredibly flavorful masala unlike any other, guaranteed to make your taste buds happy. I have found nothing like it anywhere.

Mediocre tandoor chicken– at best. My friends and I were some of the only people in the restaurant yet the meal lasted over 2 hours because of the horrendous service. Never coming here again because the staff is lazy and incompetent. We had to get up and actually ask for the bill after waiting so long for someone to even check on us. The only good part was the naan.

Last night, a Friday night, my boyfriend and I went to Shivas around 8 and were seated right away, which is uncommon for good restaurants on Lower Greenville! The atmosphere consisted of Bollywood videos and the smell of Indian spices in the air. None of the decorations really made sense or matched; two completely different light fixtures, a random assortment of wall items… But who cares about décor when the food is so excellent?! We enjoyed the complimentary papa bread and dipping sauces for starters. We shared 2 dishes, and I cannot remember the names but one was a kind of coconut lamb masala dish and the other was a waiter recommendation and I think it was made with cashews(lamb also) SOGOOD! I think you can choose your meat for all the dishes: beef, lamb, chicken… The service was wonderful as well. I would love to return to Shiva’s and try even more delicious dishes!

This will be my new Indian spot when I am in Dallas. Even though it’s located on Greenville Ave where there’s lots of bars, this is a family friendly place. I was a bit concerned when I walked in and there were no customers but I was greeted by two nice men. This place quickly filled up so I suggest making a reservation on busy nights. One of the men that greeted us on our way in was also our waiter. I ordered the tikka masala because that’s my favorite and the waiter recommended us another dish he assured us we would like. All of the food was great. I brought a date that never had Indian food however, he left this place with a new found love. The serving portions filled us up and the prices reflected the food. All of the servers we came in contact with were friendly and our waiter packed us some fresh rice to go with out left-overs. Will be back!

The friendliness of the host and the awareness of being the only customers there were the only reasons for me not to walk out from this very dark and dingy dining room! Glad I didn’t — Loved the harmony of spices in their rogan josh with lamb; delicate fold of cheese into the creamy spinach in their saag paneer; impressed with their not-at-all greasy delicious garlic naan and poori! Then, unfortunately, at first bite, their tandoori chicken was saucy and moist, yet biting further, the chicken was not fully cooked! All in all, the taste of India cuisine is there! Will take-out next time and hopefully add another star or two for their rightly deserved dishes! Cheers!
