I’ve been going to Masala Woks with my family for many years now at various locations. Typically I can count on decent naan and flavorful tikka. Even just a few months ago this Masala Wok lived up to that. However, I recently came here a couple weeks ago and they have completely changed their ‘naan’(I’m not sure you can even call it that now). If you can imagine the taste of softish saltine crackers that’s basically what it was. Also the flavor from the tikka and butter curries was off, like there was too much sugar and very little salt. I also decided to try vindaloo w/shrimp which was just a disaster. It was like a soup with a bunch of cheap hard mini shrimps in it. I have no idea what is going on this location, maybe they are trying to cut down costs? Whatever it is I’m definitely not coming here again.

I really enjoy Indian and Thai cuisines, but usually that takes more time than I normal have especially for lunch. So Masala Wok is good option when time is a factor. I’ve definitely have eaten more Indian dishes here than Asian one, but so far both have been rather solid. You walk in and there’s a huge menu board on the wall with pictures, so it’s easy to read and see what they have for you. The restaurant is bright, open, and clean where you order up first and grab a table and they will bring the meal to you. Indian and Asian dishes aren’t the easiest to make and keep consistent, but so far I really haven’t had a bad dish. Do they compare to a larger traditional Indian or Asian restaurants? No. But I don’t expect them too. But they do serve good authentic tasting fast-food. I’ve found a few truly good dishes that I tend to order more often than others. My favorite and seems to be the most consistent on the menu for me is the Lamb Curry. Spicy, yes, but it’s not hot, just to be hot. It actually has genuinely good layers of flavor. It is by far my favorite thing on the menu. A couple of my other Indian favorites; Chicken 65 has been a worthy one for me, moist chicken with big flavor. Lamb Goan Vindaloo is another robust dish that is good and hardy. I love the Naan & Garlic Naan breads; they are a most try. On the Asian side of things; Chicken Green Curry a little spice, but the coconut smooths things out and creates good flavor. Mongolian Chicken is pretty good too, again, it’s been pretty reliable for me. Usually the Spring Rolls are pretty good, but there has been a miss or two. Wrapping up, if you’re looking for some good and quick Indian or Asian cuisine, this Masala Wok probably has something for you.

Imagine the taste, flavor and texture of a couple of cups of rancid cooking oil after they have been dumped from a McDonald’s fryer. Add tiny bits of unknown and heavily burned bits of matter that might have been anything from broccoli to rat droppings. Heat it all to scorching levels in a microwave and serve with month old rice. Ladies and Gentlemen, if this sounds good to you, you are ready to indulge in the culinary delights of Masala Wok. But you will have to go without me. I will be the lady allowing people to poke my eyes out before I ever set foot in that hell hole again.

Awesome place for comfort food. The paneer wrap is awesome oozing with taste and paneer is well cooked and marinated. Malai Kofta, Schzewan rice are delicious. Never crowded, staff is well trained and ambience is good. Will definitely be back.

If you’ve ever eaten at an authentic Indian restaurant and are expecting anything close to that, change your expectations. The food isn’t terrible, but it isn’t where you go if you’re craving Indian. The samosas had a weird soapy taste, so I wouldn’t recommend those. The naan was kind of hard(maybe had been sitting too long?). Chloe masala was bland.

As you would expect from any restaurant that serves thai food and Indian food. Portions were great, Naan was excellent, and service was fast. Very good«fast» tasty food.

I loved this place… Since last June I’ve had their lamb curry, basmati rice… But last night the lamb curry was very salty. Couldn’t even taste any flavors and the rice… Well it was terrible and not basmati. It was like steam table rice. Awful. Is there a new cook? If so, I will never go back. I’m sorry to lose a good place. Also on their website there is no place to contact the owner so I have to leave a bad review. The raita was still good… naan is still only ok. I pay extra for garlic and they only put a little bit. Very disappointing, I hope they get back to normal this place was good!

Had lunch togo today and I selected the Lamb Tikka Masala. I usually order the curry lamb, but wanted to try something new. The Naan used to be included in the meal, but there’s a charge now. I was disappointed with the Naan because it was flat, chewy, and overcooked. Where is the Naan of before? Soft, fluffy and perfectly cooked? The tomato sauce was nice and creamy. But the lamb was a tad salty. The rice was a good consistency.

I just picked up and I’m very disappointed. I ordered chicken 65 which is normally not saucy but not dry either and this is about as dry as it gets. The flavor profile is very one dimensional. I was really sad because I love the variety of their menu. Maybe I didn’t order the right thing but it will definitely deter me from going back.

Great place to stop in for a quick lunch. I had the chicken tikka masala and basmati rice. It was just as good as the same dish at a more expensive restaurant. I paid to add veggies to the dish, but it didn’t appear as though very many veggies were added. However, I was able to make two portions out of it so I can’t complain. The service was quick, the prices were reasonable, and the location was clean. Check it out when you are on the go in Preston Center.

The hours are wrong on Unilocal, they close at 10pm!!! My bf and I arrive at 10:03pm the doors are open, the sign is on, there are seated guests, Unilocal confirms they are open till 11pm on Friday Oct. 24th. which is why we traveled from Plano to this specific location. After browsing the menu and making our choices, we are told they are closed and that Unilocal is wrong about the closing time, they close at 10pm. Call before you show up to avoid wasting time.

I’ve been coming here for about 10 years now when the first one was in Irving and I have not had one problem with a meal it’s an awesome substitute for Indian food when you can’t get your hands on the real thing, there is no problems with this Restaurant because it’s always a safe bet.

Good option in the area for lunch or dinner. I was craving something new and chose Indian food for the day. My taste buds are satisfied and my bell is full. Also my mind is at ease with the $ 2.00 beer special. Great way to end a work week.

Service was pretty good but man was the food not. Indian food is supposed to be cooked in steps, not throw all the ingredients in a pot and cook it like stew. Vegetables wound up too crunchy and did not absorb any flavors or impart any because they weren’t cooked down first. The chicken tikka masala had a one-note tomatoey vinegar taste and the vindaloo lacked any punch even when I asked for it to be spicy. Just disappointing.

I was hoping for more since foodie friends had good stuff to say about it. Service was fast and polite, place clean and practically-designed. Indian styled-salad was delicious and fresh a mango lazy drink was quite refreshing as well. Indian food was OK but sort of dry. I was not expecting Berwick Street(London) or Kalachandjis(NYC) quality but my craving for Korma was not satisfied in this place. Tandoori was fine. For non-Indian food try other Asian restaurants.

We had a Groupon and decided to give this place a try. I was pleasantly surprised although there are things to like and dislike. On the positive side, they have special prices on imported and domestic beers every day – $ 2, which is quite a deal. I ordered the chicken curry and the wife got lamb curry. Both curries were quite good, surprisingly good in fact. There was good heat and the curry had a very deep flavor. Both were a tad salty, but the her lamb and my chicken were very tender and good quality. The rice was also cooked just right and the portions are on the generous side. On the negative side, the samosas were pretty lame, not much flavor and they tasted old or something. The dough was not crisp. Perhaps the biggest disappointment was the naan bread. It was far from the real deal, instead it tasted like phyllo and was thin and flaky(!) Very odd. I don’t know where a previous reviewer got the idea that food is served on styrofoam, we had perfectly good sturdy plastic. Prices are very reasonable considering how much food you get. Overall, I think 3.5 stars is fair.

The food here is good for a chain. It’s as good at what it does as Pei Wei. Prices are good, and you can even get beer for $ 2 and a bottle of wine for $ 10. The food wasn’t the best we’ve ever had, but it was good, fast, fresh tasting, and spicy. Staff was nice, and service was fast. My hubby says the fried rice was one of the best he’s had. The korma was good, but I’d get it with the paneer next time(as opposed to shrimp). If you need a tasty, inexpensive spot, Masala Wok is for you!

Went here on a groupon and my boyfriend and I really enjoyed it. We got the korma masala, which was delicious, an order of the naan and the pad thai. We weren’t crazy about the pad thai, but we did eat it all. The atmospehre reminded me of a pei wei where you order up front and they bring it to you. Not exactly romantic or cozy inside, but fine for a quick bite to eat. Also, portion sizes are great. Parking is also a plus as there’s a garage right next door. We loved the fact that they had this insane drink special going on for $ 10 for a bottle of wine. We’ll be back for sure!

Our first time at this location in University Park as its only been a year since they opened. We ordered takeout. We were very pleased with the portion sizes as one dish is enough for two people. We ordered Samosas, paneer butter masala, chole masala, and a mango lassi. The food came with rice and naan and was very good with the perfect amount of spices. Great food at a reasonable price. One of the better places to get Indian fusion food. Only wish they offered more vegetarian options. Also would be nice to redeem Groupons for online ordering. Will definitely be back again.

What’s this? An Indian(and Chinese) restaurant around the corner from my job? YESPLEASE! So Masala Wok took over the space where Texas de Brazil express use to reside. I was slightly upset that Texas de Brazil express is gone, I’m happy that Masala Wok is open because 1) I love Indian food and 2) they have longer hours(TDB closed at like 2⁄3 in the afternoon). My first visit I tried the chicken and spinach masala… Oh. Em. Gee. First off, the portions are very generous. I had enough for 2 lunches, #WIN! But on top of that, the flavor! Definitely authentic spices and recipes being used… it was SO good! They also have regular naan and garlic naan… guess who had the garlic naan? Yep, ME! Gold star for the garlic… mmmmmm! On my second visit I tried the chicken tikka kabobs. As if they couldn’t get any better… they had me at kabob! With the addition of the sauce and the basmati rice, this is easily going to be one of my favorite go-to entrees. It was soooo good! I also ordered the chicken lollipops, which wasn’t what I was expecting(don’t ask what I was expecting) but it was like a chicken drumette with the meat pulled off the bone, but the bone was still there… and then fried. Yeah, I can’t explain it – it was okay, again, not what I was expecting, but still good… if that makes any sense. This will definitely be my go-to-place in the area when I’m in need of a quick lunch/dinner. Absolutely love it, hopefully I’ll get a chance to try the Chinese side of the menu, but, I love Indian spices and food, so it probably won’t be anytime soon!
